Chapter 528: Chapter 528 Infiltrating the Distribution Center

The dark blue of hyperspace gave way as the intrepid exited out into normal space.

Avery kept a close eye on the main viewscreen as it magnified to get a better look at their destination.

They had just reached the Kolvosa System which was around a three-day journey into the Zatis Consortium from the Dramid Alliance Border.

This made it not too close so that the location could be easily attacked, but not too far so that the Odium Syndicate could still conduct its operations in a timely manner.

Their current location was in a section of space that was overseen by the Haedrio Corporation. An up-and-coming business in the Consortium that focuses on cosmetics and accessories.

It was pretty innocuous so far as companies went, but that was really all just another front.

While Cerise had been unable to collect any hard proof, there was plenty of circumstantial evidence that the Haedrio Corporation was really just a pawn working for the Odium Syndicate’s boss.

The distribution center that they were headed to was near the edge of the system, but it was not hidden in any way.

As far as any public records showed, it was just a storage facility for certain makeup, soaps, and similar items.

A lot of the place’s business was legitimate, though naturally there was an entire section of the station designated for the Odium Syndicate’s use.

"There’re sixteen other vessels currently picking up goods or waiting. That’s more than we we’re expecting." Kasandra said, her lips twisted into a frown.

"Yeah, but it still shouldn’t be a problem. Unless any of them have some crazy good sensors, we should still be able to slip by."

They were already prepared to deal with the station’s security measures, but one variable that they could not entirely account for was the other ships.

Most vessels would not be able to detect their infiltration. Still, there was always a chance that one of the cargo vessels was outfitted with especially high-end sensors for some reason or another.

"Unless one of them has undergone special upgrades we should be fine. I just checked the models of each of the other ships and none of their standard issue sensors should be able to locate our pod."

Avery turned towards the short man furiously tapping away at his tablet who had just spoken.

He was Jervasio, one of the top engineers among Grito’s team. frёeωebɳovel.com

Until he had been assigned to this mission, Avery had hardly interacted with the man before.

Jervasio had some very distinct features and was the only member of his species onboard the Intrepid.

He stood only about four feet tall and had a thin layer of black fur over his entire body.

His two hands each had seven dexterous fingers, while his feet were long and thin with only two toes split right down the middle.

Perhaps the man’s most interesting characteristics though were his lack of eyes and long prehensile tail.

"I suppose that will have to be enough of an assurance. Everything is already set up, so we shouldn’t miss our chance." Kasandra replied.

After a few formalities with the station manger in his persona as Ferdinand Karas, Avery secured one of the docking ports for the Intrepid.

"Let’s head out and meet up with Havanna now. We’ll only have around forty minutes to act while the cargo is being transferred over." Avery said, getting up from the captain’s chair and leaving the bridge to Ezra.

Soon the three of them had made their way to the section of the Intrepid where the majority of the escape pods were held.

They were typically only meant for absolute emergencies, but this time one that had been extensively modified by Grito and his best mechanics was going to serve as their vehicle for infiltration.

It would be small enough to avoid notice and had been outfitted with several stealth capabilities along with hardware and software that would allow it to bypass the distribution center’s outer security measures. So long as everything went according to plan of course.

Havanna was already waiting outside of the pod’s entrance, having loaded most of their gear into it already.

"I can’t believe you convinced me to join you on this."

She shook her head and caused her dark hair to sway from side to side. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

With her left index and middle fingers, she pushed up her large circular glass and gave Avery a pleading look.

"Oh, but you told me a couple weeks ago that you’ve been getting bored with the ship’s routine duties and training." Kasandra said, wearing a mischievous smirk.

"Yeah, but this is not what I had in mind. I was hoping to get to shoot something."

Havanna jostled the large rifle on her back for emphasis. She was ultimately a sharpshooter, so there had not been much work for her to do as of late.

"Sorry, but we’re going to need to avoid fighting at all costs here. But we’re still going to need your talents. I’ve gathered all of us this time because we’ve got the best senses among the entire crew. Kasandra has her ears, Jervasio has his nose, and you’ve got your eyes."

"And what is it that you have, our illustrious leader?" Havanna asked with a hint of sarcasm.

Avery just smiled in response. He was not going to be revealing the specifics of his psionic abilities to just anyone. The only ones that he had told so far were the core members of his team.

"Let’s go. Our window of opportunity for this isn’t going to stay open for long."

Avery led the way into the pod and strapped himself in one of the four seats.

The space was pretty cramped because of how much equipment was stuffed inside, but luckily both Jervasio and Havanna were not very large and could fit into tight spaces.

"We’ve received the go ahead to launch. Everyone brace yourselves, there will be a bit of pressure once we’re shot out into space." Kasandra said as she initialized the pod’s discharge procedure.

Ten second later, there was a slight whooshing sound as the modified escape pod was hurtled out of the Intrepid.
