Chapter 1051: Chapter 727: Showing Off Love [30] What Title Should I Use [Second Update]
"We just left the hospital. How about this, you go wait for me at the restaurant, we’ll head over right away. I happen to have something I want to talk to you about."
The originally relaxed Nora Scott suddenly sharpened her gaze. "Chapman, what happened?"
"He got a little banged up, nothing serious." The Hall Master lowered his voice a bit. "We’ll talk when we get back."
Nora lightly knitted her brows.
She hummed in reply and hung up.
She told the driver the name of the restaurant, then told Pedro Langley about Henry Chapman going to the hospital.
"If he’s being discharged right away, it probably isn’t anything major." Pedro listened and gave a casual assessment, not worried about Henry Chapman’s condition at all.
Nora shot him a sidelong look.
She said, "He’s an actor."
"So?"
"A single cut is a loss."
Pedro: "..." You sure treat him like some treasure.
But then, Pedro suddenly understood why Nora had always inexplicably "shielded" Henry Chapman.
—Probably in her heart, Henry Chapman was an artist in showbiz, a precious gem that couldn’t afford even the tiniest bit of damage.
Anyway, in Nora’s mind, Henry Chapman was a luxury item. Thinking of it that way, Pedro suddenly didn’t feel sour anymore—he even started hoping Henry Chapman would come out completely unscathed.
*
The restaurant.
The restaurant owner Nora had sponsored back then was the Hall Master of Walk-the-World Martial Arts Academy.
Because they’d filmed a show here last night, under the influence of the celebrity effect, today the restaurant was packed, with a line stretching like a dragon. People were coming and going, and it even indirectly boosted business for the whole street.
When the driver turned onto this street, Nora already had a bad feeling.
Later, when she saw the crowd queued up at the entrance, she realized what was going on a beat too late, then sensibly stayed in the car.
The driver was utterly baffled and turned his head to ask, "Hall Master, are we still going in?"
"No."
Nora decided on the spot.
If she went into the restaurant now, she probably wouldn’t get out before tonight was over.
Pedro said, "Let’s go."
Nora hummed in assent and gave the driver another address.
Meanwhile—
On the other side, the Hall Master, who had never bothered to ask about how the restaurant and Martial Arts Hall were doing, had no idea business was booming like never before. When he and Henry Chapman arrived at the restaurant entrance and saw the street packed with people, they just stared at each other.
He never would’ve thought that one day, he wouldn’t even be able to get into his own restaurant.
Just then, Nora called, asking the two of them to meet somewhere else. They could only agree.
Another hour later, the four of them finally met up at a small eatery.
To be safe, Nora picked a place owned by someone she knew and booked a private room. They slipped in away from the crowd to avoid any accidents.
When Henry Chapman and the Hall Master arrived, Nora and Pedro had already ordered. The waiter had just stepped out.
"Where are you hurt?"
Nora carefully scrutinized Henry Chapman for a moment but couldn’t see anything wrong.
—He looked exactly the same as when he left, maybe his hair was a bit messier at most.
—Oh, there was a band-aid on the pinky of his left hand.
"His hand." The Hall Master rushed to say.
"Just that little pinky?" Nora took a sip of tea to calm herself, then nodded in a mock-serious tone. "Yeah, definitely worth a trip to the hospital. Any longer and it would’ve healed on its own."
And there she goes roasting him again.
"..." The Hall Master paused for a second, then took the initiative to pull out a chair for Henry Chapman and pointed at Henry’s left forearm. "There’s a cut here. It’s not deep; it’s already been bandaged."
Nora looked genuinely surprised. "One slash, and it somehow dodged the jacket and went straight for the flesh?"
Henry Chapman’s face was expressionless. "I wasn’t wearing a jacket at the time."
"Oh."
Nora responded, feeling that now things made sense.
At this moment, Pedro slid a cup of tea he’d poured over to Henry Chapman and asked, "What happened?"
"You must be Langley, right? Nice to meet you."
Only now did the Hall Master notice Pedro’s presence and he hurriedly greeted him.
"Nice to meet you."
"Let me explain," the Hall Master sat down next to them and began recounting what had happened. "This afternoon, after we finished looking at the Martial Arts Hall and Martial Arts School, we were planning to head back..."
On the way back, the Hall Master recommended a local specialty to Henry Chapman.
Henry wanted to buy it, but given how much attention he drew, and with fans who’d come to gawk at Nora all over town, he couldn’t just wander around.
So the Hall Master pulled the car up in front of the shop and had Henry wait in the car.
Who could’ve guessed that when the Hall Master came back with the goods, Henry was gone. His phone wouldn’t connect either. The Hall Master asked passersby and then finally found Henry in a small alley.
By the time he got there, the person fighting Henry had already left, leaving only a little girl standing timidly to the side.
Henry was injured.
"Where’s the little girl?" Nora asked.
"She ran off." Henry took a sip of tea and frowned slightly. "It was the one from last night."
Nora thought for a moment. "You chased after them because you saw that little girl?"
"Yeah."
Henry nodded.
"Two grown men and you let a little girl get away?" Nora sneered.
"I..."
For some reason, the Hall Master suddenly felt guilty.
At the time, he’d been focused on Henry’s injury and hadn’t paid any attention to the girl. Who knew that the moment he looked away, the kid would vanish without a trace.
It wasn’t until Henry mentioned that they’d run into her last night that the Hall Master realized how important she was.
But by then, it was already too late to go looking.
He could only take Henry to the hospital to get his wound treated first.
"I slipped a tracking device on her." Henry said suddenly.
"..."
"..."
Nora and the Hall Master both looked up in surprise.
Henry spoke unhurriedly. "Pedro gave it to me this morning."
"..."
"..."
Damn.
You tech guys just can’t resist flexing your gadgets every chance you get, huh.
