Chapter 109: Chapter 109 Insult
"You truly never fail to surprise me, Oliver." Auron said while smiling toward him. Right now, he was leaning against a wall with both arms folded.
Meanwhile, Aria waved her hand toward Oliver with a gentle smile on her face.
"You two!" Oliver immediately left the group of candidates and hurried toward them.
"It’s been a long time, Auron. You look... taller." Oliver commented while looking him up and down.
"Huh! You’re not any different yourself. It seems you ended up joining the same House as us after all. I honestly hoped you would choose one of our rival Houses like Noctis or Seraphyne. But it looks like I’ll be stuck with you as my junior now." Auron replied with a grin.
"Please take care of me, seniors." Oliver said jokingly while scratching the back of his head with a smile.
"Go quickly to our House first. The House Captain wants to meet all of you. She’s already waiting." Aria informed him.
"Ohh right. See you both soon," Oliver replied before jogging back toward the group.
Many nearby students looked visibly surprised after seeing Oliver casually conversing with the Prodigal Twins, two individuals considered among the top three students of their year. freēwēbnovel.com
"You know those two?" Klade asked curiously as Oliver walked beside him.
"Yes... kind of." Oliver answered casually.
Each of the Academy Houses possessed its own building surrounding the Hall of Castillon. Every building differed in both color and architectural design according to the identity of its respective House.
And among all of them, House Mythragon possessed the most beautiful and exotic-looking structure, heavily decorated with dragon symbolism.
The building itself contained multiple facilities for the students. The ground floor included a large lounge area where students could relax and spend their free time together.
There was also a study room along with a small battle arena for sparring and training purposes.
Meanwhile, the first floor served as the dormitory area for first-year students, separated into male and female sections. The upper floors followed the same arrangement all the way until the fourth floor.
Upon arriving at the lounge area, all the first-year students were instantly amazed by its luxurious design. Drawings and murals of dragons decorated nearly every wall, while majestic dragon statues stood proudly throughout the room.
Large comfortable sofas were arranged everywhere, and there was even a bar area serving drink and snacks for the students. The entire place felt more like an elite guild hall than part of an academy.
"Alright everyone! Stop staring around and gather here."
A woman’s voice suddenly echoed throughout the lounge. Standing at the center of the lounge was a young woman surrounded by senior students seated nearby.
In total, there were more than fifty senior members present, excluding Oliver’s group of first years.
"Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Beatrix. I am a final-year student and also the current Captain of this House. First of all, congratulations on becoming members of Mythragon, the number one House in this academy. You should all feel proud to be part of the elite among elites." the woman said confidently. She possessed long black hair tied into a ponytail, sharp black eyes, and a tall, well-built figure.
And undeniably, she was very beautiful.
"Secondly, discipline is the most important principle within this House. And we uphold honor in our daily lives throughout this academy. If you truly wish to become the best, then this is the minimum standard you must carry with you forever."
Beatrix then proceeded to ask each of the first-year students to introduce themselves one by one.
And soon, Oliver realized something. All ten of the first-year students shared one common similarity, except for him.
The other nine students all possessed monsters related to the dragon family, such as true dragons, wyverns, drakes, and wyrms.
Only Oliver was different. He did not possess a dragon-type monster at all. He genuinely felt slightly inferior. Then suddenly, one of the senior students pointed directly toward Oliver.
"Hey! Do you actually have some sort of relationship with Grandmaster Irmelia? Why the hell did she personally come here just to recruit you? You don’t even have a dragon." the senior named Esmond questioned bluntly.
He was a third-year student, identifiable by the symbol of three engraved onto his shoulder plate.
The other students also began nodding in agreement, clearly sharing the same thoughts. Many of them started questioning Oliver curiously as well.
However, Oliver found himself unable to answer them. Even he himself did not fully understand why he had been specifically chosen by House Mythragon.
Honestly, if multiple Houses had raised their hands during his selection, he would have most likely chosen a different House such as Eboncrest or Solmire, since those Houses suited his monsters far better.
But in the end, only one House had selected him. So he never truly had another choice.
’I seriously need to tame a dragon as soon as possible. Otherwise these people will keep pointing fingers at me forever.’ Oliver thought inwardly.
"So you’re questioning the selection made by our Grandmaster? Do you want me to personally help you file a complaint directly to her?" Aria suddenly said as she stepped beside Oliver protectively.
"Tsk! That’s not what I meant. Don’t twist my words, Ice Princess!" Esmond clicked his tongue irritably the moment he saw Aria. Ever since their first year, he had never gotten along well with Aria and Auron.
"I’m just saying, what qualifications does he even have when he doesn’t possess a dragon? We members of Mythragon take pride in our dragons. I don’t want others looking down on our House just because he can summon some beautiful seductive monster."
"And honestly, I think that monster is all about appearance. It’s probably not even that strong." Esmond sneered toward Oliver. He had a punk-like hairstyle dyed in a mix of red and black colors.
The moment Oliver heard those words, anger suddenly surged inside him. He could tolerate insults directed toward himself. But insulting his family or his monsters, that was something that truly tested his patience.
"Then how about this? The two of you can have a mock battle in the arena. And if Oliver wins, you shut your mouth." Auron suddenly proposed.
"And what if I win?!" Esmond immediately stood up aggressively.
"I’ll leave this House." Oliver suddenly declared.
Everyone present became shocked after hearing his words.
"Well, you’re the one who made that decision. So be it! I’ll make you regret making such a stupid bet!" Esmond said while licking his lips excitedly.
Soon, everyone gathered around the mini arena, excited to witness the unexpected battle between a first-year student and a senior member of the House.
