Chapter 775: Chapter 746: Gage Grant vs. Maeve [008]

In order to become the head fan, Gage Grant has spent the last two months editing photos, writing articles, and stepping down to argue with fans, tormenting himself to the point of barely recognizing his own reflection. He’s just one step away, and if he gets kicked out of the fandom now, wouldn’t all his efforts be in vain?

Weighing the pros and cons, he ended up dragging himself to the recording center.

The recording center was outside the city, and it took him over an hour to drive there. Before he even reached the movie city, he could see a large crowd gathered at the entrance from afar. Under the blazing sun, everyone wore white T-shirts, holding megaphones and light boards, loudly protesting: "Justice for Maeve! Justice for Maeve! Maeve advanced by her own abilities! There’s no hidden agenda! Justice for Maeve!..."

The program staff hadn’t started work yet, with a few security guards maintaining order at the scene, while some onlookers filmed on their phones.

Gage put on sunglasses, got out of the car, and walked towards the protest crowd with his hands in his pockets. The head fan leading him was shouting in the front row. Gage walked up to him, tapped him on the shoulder, and asked, "Have you filed a permit for this gathering and protest with so many people?"

The head fan turned off the megaphone, looked him up and down: "Why aren’t you wearing the uniform? Where’s your megaphone? Did you bring it?"

Gage: "..."

The head fan rolled his eyes, pulled a wrinkled T-shirt from a guy’s backpack next to him, and stuffed it into Gage’s arms: "Quickly put it on! Stay beside me and shout together!"

Gage held the T-shirt open, seeing Maeve’s large photo on both the front and back, and immediately balled it up and stuffed it back into the guy’s backpack: "I’m not wearing it!"

The head fan got angry; it was already annoying to come to protest in the sweltering heat, and seeing Gage being so picky pushed his patience, he immediately waved the megaphone at him and yelled: "If you don’t wear it, you can get lost! You’re kicked out of the fandom!"

Fourth Young Master Grant had never been cursed at like this in his entire life. Enraged, his veins nearly burst, and he cursed "shit" before turning to leave. But suddenly, he realized that if he left, all his previous efforts would be wasted. He cursed the head fan dozens of times silently, wore a sour expression, and took the T-shirt from the guy again.

Five minutes later, Gage got out of the car. His white dress shirt was gone, replaced with the white fan T-shirt, with Maeve’s photo prominently printed on the front and back.

He wore his sunglasses securely, afraid of being photographed.

The protest went on from eight until nine o’clock. When the program staff arrived, they first sent security to disperse the crowd, but with the fans being too numerous, the security couldn’t do much. Eventually, the program staff allowed them to send two representatives in for negotiations.

Before the head fan left, he handed the megaphone to Gage: "Keep shouting!"

Gage: "..."

He couldn’t bring himself to do something so embarrassing, so he just mimicked moving his mouth with the megaphone, pretending his voice was drowned out by the other fans.

After shouting for over half an hour, everyone stopped to take a break. Gage intended to return to his car for a rest, but a young male fan suddenly called out to him: "You’re new here, aren’t you? Haven’t seen you before!"

Gage casually threw out a timeframe: "I’ve been around for more than half a year."

The male fan grinned, nodding his chin toward the Range Rover parked not far away: "You wouldn’t be 1520, would you?"

"What’s 1520?"

"You know, the fan who rewarded the goddess with 15.2 million recently; everyone in the circle calls him 1520."

"Really?" Gage’s eyes, hidden behind the sunglasses, crinkled, "So even the goddess knows about this 1520?"

"Of course she does! Someone supporting the goddess so sincerely, she’d definitely be very touched... We all suggested that the goddess marry 1520!"

Upon hearing the male fan say that Maeve was certainly very touched, Gage’s restless heart leapt with joy, pondering whether to reveal himself as 1520. But upon hearing the suggestion that Maeve should marry 1520, he instantly lost the desire to say more.

Another half hour passed, the head fan who went to negotiate with the program staff came out, announced that today’s protest was over, and ordered the group to disperse, indicating that they would regroup for further strategies later.

Seeing that it was only 10 o’clock, Gage figured he still had time to return to the office for a meeting. Returning the megaphone to the head fan, he called out a goodbye, and swiftly drove back to the office.

He got back to the office by 11, got out of the car, and sprinted all the way to his office, grabbing his notebook and laptop, and hurried over to the meeting room. The secretary called out a couple of times after him, "Vice Minister Grant."

Halfway through the meeting, the minister was speaking loudly at the head of the table as Gage opened the door, carefully slipped into the empty seat next to the minister.

Opening his laptop, spreading open his notebook, placing down his pen, everything was all set. Gage placed his hands on the table, putting on his signature smile, and the official air was immediately apparent.

The minister, who had been speaking, glanced over at him, coughed lightly with displeasure on his face. The attendees looked over and couldn’t hold back their amusement.

Gage flashed a serious yet polite smile at the leader.

The minister frowned slightly, and said sternly: "Grant, come to my office after the meeting."

"Alright, alright."

After the meeting, Gage followed the leader into the office.

As soon as the door closed, the minister stepped forward, pinching the T-shirt Gage was wearing: "Have you looked at what you’re wearing? You know there was a meeting this morning, everyone in the department was present, and you come to the meeting dressed like this? Huh? What were you thinking?"

"Hmm?" Gage was stunned for two seconds, then looked down at the clothes he was wearing.

Maeve’s big photo was smiling at him.

"Shit!" Gage shouted, quickly using his arms to cover the picture on his chest.

The minister shook his head in disappointment, then walked over to his seat and sat down.

Embarrassed and flustered, Gage quickly thought of a reason: "The power went out at my house this morning, I woke up early, couldn’t see in the dark, just grabbed something from the wardrobe and put it on..."

The minister couldn’t possibly imagine that Gage was chasing after a small celebrity, participating in fan events, so he didn’t suspect anything. However, the elderly gentleman couldn’t quite wrap his head around a behavior like having girls’ photos printed on clothes.

"Grant, you’re not that young anymore. It’s fine to date, but whatever you do, you need to consider your identity and your father’s and grandfather’s identities! Old Mr. Grant’s lifelong reputation shouldn’t be ruined in your hands!"

Being lectured at his age, Gage felt both ashamed and innocent, just as he was about to express his determination, the door behind him suddenly made a few sounds.

The minister cleared his throat: "Come in."

The door was gently pushed open, Gage turned his head and met Tobias Blackwood’s eyes, with their playful gaze.

Gage: "..."

Tobias was still smiling at first, but upon seeing the T-shirt Gage wore, his expression froze. The next second, the smile disappeared, and he stepped inside, positioning himself in front of Gage.

The minister stood up to greet Tobias Blackwood: "Ah, Powers, what brings you to my place today?"

Tobias smiled, stepped forward, and shook hands with the minister: "I happened to be in the area for some errands and came to say hello."

The minister felt honored, clearly knowing Tobias was there to see Gage, but was still happy with the polite gesture from Tobias. Not wanting to intrude on their business, he glanced at the somewhat out-of-sorts Gage and said to Tobias with a smile: "Honored, honored, I was just about to go down for lunch, care to join me?"

Tobias courteously replied: "I’ve already eaten, please go ahead. I’ll just have a word with Gage." With that, he signaled for Gage to follow him out.
