Chapter 756: Chapter 727: Love Across Parallel Worlds [049]

Sienna herself didn’t have much savings, so her confidence in addressing the two million financial gap stemmed from Simon Forrester’s previous willingness to invest.

She thought about calling Simon Forrester to discuss this, but Maeve suggested that it’s better to discuss investments in person to show sincerity.

She immediately set up a time with Simon Forrester. On Monday afternoon, she took half a day off, brought Maeve to the office to discuss the project, and upon reaching an agreement, called the agent the same day to set a time with the local village committee to arrange the contract.

Having not seen each other for over half a month, Maeve stayed over at the Thorne Family that night. They chatted for most of the night, and Sienna vented about her parents’ strong opposition to her relationship with Simon Forrester.

Although Simon Forrester wasn’t lacking in wealth, he was far from the ideal son-in-law Quentin Thorne envisioned. Therefore, Maeve didn’t have a good solution and could only comfort Sienna, saying no parents could resist their children forever. She advised Sienna to just focus on her love life and, if marriage was the right step, then proceed. And if Simon Forrester was irreplaceable, then maybe consider getting pregnant first.

Sienna almost lost it upon hearing this. She would never forget Melinda Linton, who married into the Thorne Family pregnant, carrying a lifelong sense of grievance. Even after twenty years, whenever the past was brought up, she would burst into tears, unable to hold her head high among relatives.

This was Sienna’s nightmare, and she would never repeat her mother’s mistakes.

Maeve wasn’t aware of the Thorne Family matters, so her advice was without malice. However, Sienna understood that while she had deep feelings for Simon Forrester, her principles could not be compromised.

The next day, Maeve and Sienna had lunch outside and arrived at the office a little after two.

Sienna’s face now served like a pass; from the entrance to the third floor, she had no obstacles, and no one dared to stop her.

The door to Simon Forrester’s office was closed, and the curtains were tightly drawn. Harrison Rowe, standing outside, looked like he’d seen a ghost, his face turned pale, and he was frantically pacing.

Sienna walked over with Maeve, glanced at the tightly drawn curtains of the office door, and smiled at Harrison Rowe: "Is he in a meeting?"

Harrison Rowe quickly replied, "Director Forrester has a guest. Why don’t you, Lawyer Thorne, wait in the conference room for a moment?" He gestured for Sienna to step aside.

Just then, Logan Lockwood emerged from the adjacent office and called to Harrison Rowe, "Has Jane Sinclair left? Still in with Jules?"

Realizing his slip upon seeing Sienna, Logan’s face altered dramatically for a few seconds, before he awkwardly smiled and approached her: "Lawyer Thorne, are you here to see Jules today? Jules currently has a guest. How about coming to my office for some tea?"

Before Sienna could respond, he switched his attention to Maeve: "Oh, this young lady looks familiar. Have we met somewhere? Come on, let’s chat over some tea and catch up." He started leading them towards his office.

Sienna turned her gaze toward Simon Forrester’s office door. The instant she heard Logan mention Jane Sinclair was in Simon Forrester’s office, the smile vanished from her face.

Maeve noticed something was amiss but didn’t say anything, staying by Sienna’s side.

Sienna redirected her gaze to Harrison Rowe: "Wasn’t Jane Sinclair terminated?"

Harrison Rowe mumbled, unable to speak.

Logan awkwardly laughed: "Yes, she was terminated, but there were unresolved issues she felt weren’t sufficiently handled by the company’s legal team, so she’s discussing them personally with Jules now."

What kind of discussions require the curtains to be drawn?

Sienna was furious, her face darkened as she asked, "Is Director Forrester in charge of legal matters? If not, why would she seek him out for legal issues?"

With that, not waiting for anyone’s reactions, she took a step directly to Simon Forrester’s office door.

Harrison Rowe hurried forward to try to stop her, but before he could speak, Sienna had already knocked on the office door with her finger bent.

After a full ten seconds, Simon Forrester’s voice came from inside: "Just a moment."

Just a moment for what?

What exactly needed them to pause for a moment?

Sienna felt a rush of anger and, without thinking twice, pushed open the door and walked in.

Harrison Rowe and Logan Lockwood immediately retreated into the adjacent office, closing the door as they quickly rushed to the desk, pretending to study a blueprint with their heads together.

Maeve chuckled to herself, thinking Simon Forrester must usually be quite strict with his subordinates, otherwise, those two wouldn’t be behaving like this.

She walked over to the lounge area and decided to wait and see what unfolded.

On the other side, as Sienna entered Simon Forrester’s office, she didn’t observe anything unusual.

Simon Forrester was sitting neatly at his desk, and the young woman in front of him was crying with her head down.

Seeing her come in, Simon looked slightly uncomfortable, standing up to greet her: "You’re here?"

She glanced at the young woman who turned her face upon hearing the noise and said displeased, "Didn’t we agree on the afternoon? What’s this? You have other guests?"

"Yes, I’m almost done here. Why don’t you take your friend to the conference room and wait for me?" Simon said, leading them out.

Sienna was visibly displeased but didn’t want to embarrass him in public. After she was ushered into the conference room, her face turned entirely dark.

After Simon left, Maeve came in, gesturing towards the office next door and laughingly asked, "Who’s that woman in your man’s office? What mysterious matters require them to close the curtains?"

Sienna vented to Maeve about the whole situation with Nina Sinclair.

Maeve commented, "This woman clearly hasn’t let go of your man. You shouldn’t let her back into the company. Tell your man to keep his guard up, or he might get into trouble."

Seeing that Sienna remained sullen and silent, she continued, "And beware of her joining partner companies and having professional interactions with your man in the future. That could turn problematic, leading to more trouble."

"But we can’t just make sure she can’t survive in this industry..."

Maeve laughed, "Then it all depends on how your man handles this situation. If he can’t even handle such a trivial matter, that means he doesn’t want to, and you might want to reconsider things."

Sienna almost spoke up for Simon Forrester, but just then, Simon came over from next door, knocked on the open conference room door, and smiled, "Annie, bring your friend and join me in my office." After saying that, he went back to summon Harrison Rowe to prepare the materials.

Maeve patted Sienna’s shoulder, whispering, "Still want to discuss the guesthouse project?"

Sienna gritted her teeth, "Yes! Keep business and personal matters separate! I’ll deal with our personal stuff later myself."

The two entered Simon Forrester’s office and had just sat down when Simon came in with Harrison Rowe.

Harrison avoided meeting Sienna’s eyes, but Simon appeared as calm as ever.

Sienna suppressed the urge to grab Simon Forrester’s ear, staring at him with a face full of resentment.

He, however, as if nothing had happened, casually greeted Maeve and instructed Harrison Rowe to start the projector with the prepared materials.
