Chapter 747: Chapter 718: Love in a Parallel Universe [040]

As Simon Forrester left, Thomas Reed ruthlessly extinguished the half-smoked cigar in his hand in the ashtray, pacing back and forth in the office, highly agitated.

After a while, the door opened, but he didn’t turn around; he stood at the floor-to-ceiling window behind his desk, looking at the view with his arms crossed.

A woman’s fair arm snaked around his waist like a water snake, her delicate and alluring face resting on his shoulder.

"Why did Mr. Forrester come by today?" the woman asked as seductively as she could. "His mother was here this morning, and then him in the afternoon? Did you offend them?"

"I don’t want to talk about it."

The woman snorted and released him, sitting on the large desk nearby, crossing her shapely, creamy legs and playing with an official seal decor placed on the table.

"Isn’t your cousin getting on in years? How come he hasn’t found a partner yet? Are his standards too high? What kind of girl is he looking for?"

Thomas Reed chuckled and lightly replied, "No need to worry about that. It’s none of your concern."

The woman turned pale, realizing her slip of the tongue. She quickly jumped off the desk and hugged him from behind again.

...

When Simon Forrester went downstairs, Sienna Thorne wasn’t in the office. He asked the people outside and found out she was in a meeting. So, he waited for her in the office, dealing with emails on his phone as he waited. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

In no time, it was five o’clock. Just before the end of the workday, Sienna Thorne came back into the office, carrying a large pile of case files. She entered, beaming at Simon Forrester, saying, "This afternoon, you were asking me when I’d be able to handle cases independently. Well, here are the cases."

Simon Forrester took the dozens of case files from her hands and placed them on the table: "So heavy? Must be a big case, right?"

"It’s a missing import-export goods case; there’s a lot of material."

Simon Forrester went to close the office door, returned, and with a smile, asked, "Do you have to work late tonight?"

Sienna Thorne was counting the files and didn’t answer immediately. After a while, when she finished, she turned around, hugged his waist, and said with a smirk, "I’ll work overtime tomorrow night; tonight, I want to leave work with you."

"Usually, until what time?"

"Around nine o’clock."

"Alright, I’ll come pick you up at nine every night while you’re working overtime." After saying that, he reconsidered, thinking it wasn’t safe for her to work alone here at night, and added, "Or how about this, during your overtime period, I’ll accompany you here? Would it be inconvenient?"

Sienna Thorne was surprised: "Accompany me? What about your work?"

"I’ll bring my laptop over; everything I need is in it."

"Great, great." She was overjoyed, hugging his waist and laughing, "That way, we can keep each other company!"

That night, they had a simple dinner and watched a movie together before heading home. As always, before bed, they had a phone call until Sienna Thorne fell asleep, after which Simon Forrester hung up.

Since they started dating, he was noticeably busier, needing to accommodate both his girlfriend and his job, feeling like he was stretched thin. Yet, emotionally, he felt more fulfilled and joyful, brimming with energy. Every morning, as soon as he awoke, he thought about doing more projects and earning more money to give his future wife and children a splendid life. Compared to working merely for interest before, this busier state now felt more meaningful.

.

For the following week, Simon Forrester indeed went to find Sienna Thorne every evening after work. They would have dinner together and return to the office, each focusing on their own tasks, undisturbed. When nine o’clock hit, Simon Forrester would take Sienna Thorne home before he headed back to his apartment.

This routine continued until Simon Forrester’s project concluded, and overtime was no longer necessary. However, since Sienna Thorne’s case was still ongoing, he continued to accompany her for overtime every night, ensuring she got home safely.

A week before New Year’s Day, Maeve, who had been dealing with personal matters back in her hometown, returned to Brimfield. The two friends hadn’t seen each other for two months, and Sienna Thorne spent the entire weekend with her.

Upon hearing that Maeve had only received a modest portion from her father’s inheritance, Sienna Thorne exclaimed, "What? Your dad only left you eight million? That’s impossible! With all those fixed assets and running such a large factory, the amount of working capital your dad needed must have been enormous!"

Maeve shook her head, sighing, "My dad did have a lot of assets, but he made a will, leaving only eight million for me; the rest went to the son he had with that woman."

"He made a will..." Sienna Thorne’s voice lowered, "Then there’s nothing that can be done."

She hugged Maeve, comforting her: "Don’t worry too much. You can earn more money again."

"Yeah. I’ve decided that I’m going to spend all of this money! That woman said half of the eight million is hers, and just seeing this money makes me nauseous."

Sienna Thorne burst into laughter: "Is there really someone who gets sick at the sight of money?"

Maeve also laughed, stuffing a chip into her mouth: "Help me think about the best way to spend this money."

Sienna Thorne chewed the chip, rolling her eyes while brainstorming. Unfortunately, she was used to being frugal and didn’t quite know how to suddenly spend such a large sum of money.

"Hmm... how about buying a house?"

Maeve shook her head: "One house to live in is enough; why buy more?"

"What about a car? You could get one of those low sports cars that roar with engine noise!"

"I’m always traveling, a car like that would just gather dust."

"True... It wouldn’t be wise to just waste the money; the best is to invest it in something that can appreciate in value, eventually making you more money. Only then would spending it be worthwhile..."

Maeve nodded in agreement.

At this moment, a travel commercial popped on the TV. Seeing the endless flower sea, Sienna Thorne envied: "I envy people in the south; in this weather, they can still see flowers."

As soon as she said that, a line of text scrolled across the TV: Welcome to the South Bay Flower Fields!

"Where’s South Bay?" Sienna Thorne asked. freewebnøvel.com

Maeve picked up her phone to search: "It’s at the border of Z City and Brimfield, within Z City. In recent years, they’ve planted vast fields of everlasting flowers, attracting tourists to come see them."

Sienna Thorne casually mentioned: "If we could open a guesthouse in a place like that, catering to the tourists coming to see the flower fields, business should be good."

As soon as she said that, Maeve dusted her hands off the chip crumbs and made a phone call.

She heard Maeve instruct someone on the phone to find a piece of land near the South Bay Flower Fields, the closer to the fields, the better.

Once she hung up, she excitedly said, "Are you really going to build a guesthouse there?"

Maeve smiled: "Of course! You said it yourself, this money shouldn’t just be spent meaninglessly, it should be invested in a venture that can make money!"

Sienna Thorne laughed heartily and finished, saying, "If you’re building a guesthouse, I can’t financially support you, but I have a designer who can design it for you."

Realizing her slip, she quickly changed the topic: "How big of a plot are you going to buy? Do you have enough money? Land can be really expensive!"

——

Haha, a little spoiler: Simon Forrester will definitely help with the design, and then they’ll conduct an on-site inspection of the project, which conveniently gives them a reason to stay out overnight with Annie, haha, I’m excited! See you in tomorrow’s update!
