Chapter 715: Chapter 686: Love in a Parallel Universe [008]
(Extra update for November monthly ticket 7.5/13)
Thomas Reed glanced at Lawyer Chandler, the smile on his face faded slightly.
He checked his wristwatch and smiled at Mr. King, "How about this, Mr. King, could you please move to the next room? I’ll personally handle this case. How does that sound?"
Mr. King laughed, "Alright! If we can get you on board, this case is as good as settled! But... how about your legal fees?"
"We’ll go with whatever Lawyer Chandler discussed with you, whatever that may be."
Mr. King was pleased and readily agreed.
Thomas Reed looked sternly at Lawyer Chandler, "Escort Mr. King to the next room first, I’ll be there shortly."
Lawyer Chandler timidly agreed with a "Got it," and promptly led Mr. King and his entourage to the next room.
Once the door was closed, Thomas Reed redirected his gaze and smiled at Sienna Thorne, "Come on, Quentin, have a seat here."
He moved to a nearby sofa, and Sienna followed.
The two sat on individual sofas, facing each other.
Thomas Reed said, "If Lawyer Chandler asks you to come out at night for a case again, give me a call."
Sienna nodded, "Alright."
"You don’t need to follow up on this case. I will assign you a different case when you’re back at the office tomorrow."
"Thank you, Partner Reed."
Thomas Reed smiled at her, stood up, "Alright then, you can go home."
"Okay."
She stood up to leave, but suddenly remembered she had materials in her bag. She quickly opened her briefcase, took out a thick folder, and handed it to Thomas Reed with both hands, "Partner Reed, this is the Stellaron information I’ve prepared."
Thomas Reed took it, "Got it, you can go home now."
"Goodbye."
"Goodbye."
Sienna Thorne left the private room and called Quentin Thorne, learned that he was in the hotel lobby, and told him she’d head down after using the restroom.
The Imperial is a top-tier hotel with spotless, elegant restrooms, and the air carries a hint of fragrance.
Sienna stood at the sink, splashed cold water on her face, propped herself up on the countertop, and stared confused at her reflection in the mirror.
The bathroom lighting was warm, yet her complexion remained pale and unwell. Going downstairs like this would definitely alert Quentin Thorne.
She didn’t want to worry her parents.
If Quentin Thorne knew about her current situation at work, he wouldn’t agree to her continuing as a lawyer.
With Quentin Thorne’s connections in the legal field, finding her a good job would be as easy as breathing, but she didn’t want to rely on her father’s influence to take shortcuts in her career. She wanted to prove herself, to see how far she could go.
She forced herself not to think about Mr. King’s nauseating demeanor just now, trying hard to distract herself with other thoughts.
Gradually, Simon Forrester’s face emerged from the depths of her mind.
She hadn’t thought of him for a long time.
But in such a beautifully decorated restroom, she couldn’t help but remember once blocking a man like him in the men’s room, scolding him fiercely, and even leaving a lipstick mark on his white shirt.
Yet, he kindly helped her out.
Why is it that men like Lawyer Chandler are so annoying, Mr. King is so disgusting, and yet Simon Forrester is so courteous?
What is he doing now?
Has he eaten yet? Is he out on a date with his girlfriend?
She remembered that dream as if entranced, where Simon Forrester pulled her into the bathroom...
Sienna’s face started to burn again.
She looked up, her face flushed, a shy smile on her lips in the mirror.
She closed her eyes, shook her head, picked up her bag, and left the restroom.
A tall man stood waiting for the elevator.
Her heartbeat skipped.
She thought it couldn’t be such a coincidence.
But as she approached, she finally saw clearly, it was indeed Simon Forrester.
Suddenly, an indescribable joy spread in her heart, almost instinctively, she called out to Simon, who was focused on the elevator numbers: "Mr. Forrester."
Simon Forrester turned his face towards her, not speaking.
She smiled at him, "What a coincidence?"
He shifted his gaze to the changing elevator numbers, giving a faint smile, "Lawyer Thorne here to discuss a case today?"
"Yes, I am. And you?"
"Just here for some business."
She looked at his profile and smiled sweetly, "So coincidental."
He didn’t say anything more.
Perhaps because of the fall season, today he wore a well-fitting smoke-gray suit, a French white shirt, a navy tie with purple polka dots, and a matching pocket square.
The tailored suit made his figure look even more upright.
Great taste, as expected from a designer.
"Ding," the elevator arrived.
Sienna snapped back to reality, ready to wait for Simon Forrester to enter before she did, but saw Simon raise a hand to block the elevator door.
He meant for her to go in first.
Quite the gentleman.
She couldn’t help but feel a tinge of appreciation, said "Thank you" to him, and stepped into the elevator.
After entering, he pressed a floor for himself and asked her, "Which floor are you headed to?"
She regained her composure, "First floor."
He then withdrew his hand, pocketed both hands, and continued to watch the elevator numbers change intently, neither looking at her nor speaking further.
In the narrow space, she smelled a distinct scent on him, a conifer fragrance, but not as strong as perfume, more like something from skincare or bath products.
The scent was very pleasant.
She took a deep breath and glanced at him out of the corner of her eye.
How would it feel to be held by him?
Even though he had held her in a dream, that feeling was too ethereal to imagine. Now, she was curious to know what it would actually be like to embrace this man’s physical presence.
His girlfriend is really lucky.
.
"Ding," the elevator reached the first floor.
The door opened, and once again, he let her exit first.
She stepped out of the elevator, instinctively slowing her pace, waiting for him to catch up, and without thinking, asked, "Did you drive?"
The moment the words left her mouth, she startled herself.
What did she mean by "Did you drive?"
It sounded like she wanted to hitch a ride with him, to ask him along!
She wanted to bite her tongue off!
"I had some drinks," he said flatly, "I’ll head off first." With that, he strode towards the revolving door.
Sienna was about to say "Goodbye," when Quentin Thorne, who was waiting in the lounge area, approached, "Annie." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Sienna turned her head, seeing it was her father, and quickly walked over to Quentin Thorne.
Outside the door, Simon Forrester got into a Rolls-Royce parked at the hotel entrance.
Seeing that Thomas Reed hadn’t come down yet, he felt a bit impatient, picked up his phone, and called Thomas, "Hurry up, or I’m leaving first."
His tone was displeased.
Hanging up, he looked out the window with idle eyes.
A tall and slender figure entered his sight.
Sienna Thorne, affectionately holding the arm of a man in his forties, walked out of the hotel lobby and got into a black Audi parked not far away.
The Audi quickly drove out of the hotel’s vicinity, and he watched expressionlessly as the Audi disappeared before him.
If he didn’t mistake it, that Audi’s license plate was a government one.
A sarcastic smile appeared on his lips.
