Chapter 592: Chapter 592: Will She Answer?
The restaurant manager hurried over, a grim expression on his face, demanding they leave immediately.
SLAP!
The man slapped Annie York across the face and cursed, "You little bitch, hurry up and tell me who your sugar daddy is! Is he here or not? This rich guy you’ve latched onto is useless! You’re getting beat up like this and he hasn’t shown his face. Does he even care about you at all?"
He grabbed Annie York, jabbing a finger at her as he lectured, "Just look at you. How can your taste be so bad? That Boss Sawyer I found for you is such a good man. If you’d just gone with him, you’d be living the high life. Why are you so stubborn?"
Annie York’s cheek throbbed from the slap, and tears streamed down her face. She glared furiously at the man before her. "You animal! How dare you say something like that? I’m your own sister, and you’re trying to sell me! Why didn’t you just die out there?!"
"You dare curse at me? You’ve got some nerve!" Fury twisted the man’s features, and he raised his hand to strike Annie York again.
But the next second, someone kicked him hard in the knee. He lost his balance and fell straight to the ground.
An astonished Annie York looked up and saw Chloe Reed approaching. Chloe grabbed her by the wrist and said, "Come with me."
"Chloe..."
Annie York, her eyes blurry with tears, stared at her sudden rescuer, too moved to know what to say.
Chloe Reed pulled Annie York out of the restaurant.
"Stop right there!" frёeωebɳovel.com
Seeing this, the man staggered to his feet, grimacing in pain as he chased after them and reached for Chloe Reed’s shoulder.
But the next second, his wrist was caught in a grip.
"Hey now, what do you think you’re doing?"
Daniel Hayes’s burly figure appeared, gripping the man’s wrist and making him look as helpless as a chick in his grasp.
The man’s pupils contracted. He swallowed hard and asked, "Wh-who are you?"
Daniel Hayes jutted out his chin. "I was about to ask you the same thing. Who are you? Were you just about to lay a hand on my lady? Believe it or not, I’ll snap your damn paws right off."
The man glanced frantically at Chloe Reed and Annie York walking away in the distance, then back at the burly Daniel Hayes, and instantly chickened out.
"I... I was just looking for my sister. I wasn’t trying to touch your lady. I’m Annie York’s brother, Gregory York. I just need to talk to my sister about something. You... you let me go..."
"Hah!" Daniel Hayes sneered at his words. "Does she even acknowledge you as her brother? Go on, call out to her. See if she answers. If she does, I’ll let you go."
Gregory York froze for a moment, then immediately shouted at Annie York’s retreating back, "Ann! Little sis! It’s me, your brother! Turn around and look at me! It’s your brother!"
But the figures up ahead only got farther and farther away, showing no intention of stopping.
Gregory York gritted his teeth, a sinister glint flashing in his eyes.
"Tsk. See? She doesn’t acknowledge you. You lied. And I really hate liars. Tell me, how should I punish you? How about I just cut out your tongue?"
As he spoke, Daniel Hayes started dragging Gregory York toward an alley.
Gregory York struggled desperately. "N-no, don’t! Let me go! I really am her brother! She’s the ungrateful one! She’s the one who won’t acknowledge me, it’s her..."
But Daniel Hayes wasn’t listening. He threw him straight into the alley, and without another word, began to beat him with a flurry of punches and kicks.
Daniel Hayes was an expert at this. He avoided any vital spots and wouldn’t injure him too seriously, but he would make sure the man was in pain for the next week or two, all without leaving any visible wounds.
