Chapter 582: Chapter 582: Shamelessly Begging for Forgiveness

A look of astonishment appeared on the old woman’s face. She never would have thought they would make such an agreement.

She couldn’t help but look at Chloe Reed, only to see that her expression was also a bit dazed. ’Her reaction is almost the same as mine?’

However, Chloe Reed recovered quickly. She nodded. "Yes, it’s just as he said. So, Grandma, don’t you worry about us. We’ll handle everything. Just stay here and relax. Don’t feel like you’re a burden. After all, I paid for the renovations on this house. Even if we get a divorce, half of it is still mine."

When they first got married, they chose their marital home together. He was responsible for buying it, while she, wanting to create her dream nest, took full charge of the renovations. She didn’t even let him see it until it was completely finished.

She had once moved into this house with him, full of anticipation.

But now, she felt no attachment to it whatsoever.

The old woman seemed to believe their excuse. She slowly nodded and didn’t say anything more.

Chloe Reed said, "You should stop worrying about other people’s business. Ann is just here to take care of you. If you keep nagging her about this stuff, what if she gets annoyed but is too polite to say anything?"

The old woman chuckled. "Ann wouldn’t. She’s a sweet and simple girl."

Chloe was just trying to convince her to stop pushing people to get married. Young people these days hate that.

"I’m a little tired. I’m going to get some sleep."

The old woman yawned and started shooing them away.

Chloe nodded. "Alright, we’ll head out then." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"Mhm."

...

Once out of the room, she looked at Walker Grant, a complicated look in her limpid eyes.

A faint smile played on Walker Grant’s thin lips. "Moved? Don’t know how to thank me? It’s simple. A kiss will do as a thank-you gift."

Chloe Reed scoffed. "Get over yourself. I was just marveling at how your skin is thicker than a castle wall."

Walker Grant gave a lazy smile. "What else was I supposed to do? What did you want me to say? Did you have a better excuse ready? Grandma would only believe it if I acted like I was shamelessly clinging to you."

His handsome, almond-shaped eyes stared at her. "Besides, everything I’m doing right now really is me shamelessly begging for your forgiveness, hoping you won’t divorce me."

She ignored him and went straight upstairs.

Walker Grant was about to follow when his phone rang. He pulled it out, and his expression darkened as he looked at the screen.

He then took the phone and went into the study.

He answered the call, and a familiar, arrogant voice came through. "Heh... Walker Grant, are you calling me behind your wife’s back?"

Walker Grant’s tone was cold. "Tell me what you found."

The person on the other end sneered, "Is that any way to talk to someone you’re cooperating with?"

Walker Grant’s tone grew even colder. "I don’t have to work with you. Nathaniel Monroe has been looking for Iris Yates, and I know exactly where you all are."

"You!"

The person on the other end of the line was none other than William Quinn.

He despised Walker Grant, but since Walker could bring him enormous benefits and assistance, he had no choice but to cooperate.

It was an arrangement of mutual convenience.

Walker Grant had promised not to expose his location, and in return, William would help him investigate Vera Holloway.

William Quinn took several deep breaths before saying, "Vera Holloway might be heading to Breyburn soon. You should get ready."

Hearing this, Walker Grant’s expression instantly turned grim.
