Chapter 1178: Chapter 1178: Saraf
"Oh! I wondered who this was. Isn’t it Mr. Nero, who abandoned his teammates and fled in panic in front of me the other day? What? Have you deeply reflected on your defeat and mended your ways? Otherwise, blocking a blade for your teammate doesn’t quite match your style."
Faced with Pei Yan’s mocking words after being stopped, Nero smiled slightly, unconcerned, "Say whatever you want, Pei Yan, today you merely got lucky and escaped a calamity. You can be proud or keep shouting, but remember, good luck won’t always be by your side. I hope you’ll still manage to smile then."
"Ha ha ha, you’re right!" Pei Yan clapped his hands and nodded at Nero, "Perhaps such a day will indeed come for me, but unfortunately, you’re surely not going to witness it!"
Just as the words fell, without Pei Yan making any move, Nero, standing still, acted first. Instantly flashing away from his position, a cut appeared on his cheek, healing before the blood could flow.
"After all, the reaction of the leader among the Three Tyrants is faster than that terrified Ivan!" Pei Yan gazed at the source energy line that flashed past him and secretly attacked Nero, sighing, "Aren’t you planning to use that flawless divine body you displayed in the finals? You don’t think you can stop me in your current state, do you?"
"Pei Yan! Don’t forget, there’s still me!" A loud voice sounded from behind, preceded by a silent long knife slicing through the air.
At the same time, a phoenix’s cry suddenly rang out. Pei Yan, standing still, did not evade, only feeling a wild wind rise behind him. Amidst the clashing sounds of metal, two figures slid past him.
"Don’t forget this is the Dragon Realm!" Fanning her wings, Golden Phoenix Feather used her claws, sharp enough to cut gold, jade, and slice iron like mud, to push back the ambusher Shitang Longsi. At the age where children hold grudges, she had been focused on him ever since his sneak attack injured her. With the tide turning and a chance to retaliate, she wouldn’t miss the opportunity, locking onto her target to fight.
Elsewhere, Long Jin and Ye Ye stood together, with only the spell-casting Bai Ze left besides Nero’s severely injured and terrified Ivan. Meanwhile, the opponent had Hu Jiu, who signed a symbiotic contract, watching closely and ready to join the battle at any moment.
Above the garden ruins, shouts of killing filled the air, as Dragon Realm reinforcements gathered from all directions, encircling the area. Despite the formidable strength of Blood Demon Grand Commander, Fafnir, and the Dark Race guarding the perimeter, the long battle had tired them, and with the encirclement by such a large army, the defense line they held was perilous.
"Bai Ze! How much longer!" Nero, using all his strength and nearly risking his life to hold Pei Yan at bay, glanced with the corner of his eye at Hu Jiu on the ground, who was gradually moving his still stiff body in place, aware that once Hu Jiu adapted to the human form and joined the fray, the situation would completely collapse.
"Done!"
Bang!
Bai Ze’s shout of success coincided with the sound of a huge figure breaking through the air! Yet, just as Hu Jiu charged through the air toward Bai Ze, he collided with a gigantic form, causing a muffled crash. His body was directly sent flying, another thud sounding before he fell into the pavilion ruins, kicking up clouds of dust.
"Mortal! How dare you plot against me!" Saraf, still caught in the chaotic battle with Dragon Realm soldiers moments before, was suddenly shifted here after sensing spatial fluctuations within him. Observing his surroundings and noticing Bai Ze in the crowd, he recalled the mark left upon him by Bai Ze when departing earlier. It wasn’t just a spatial coordinate to Blood Demon, but harbored the Space Transfer Technique within, indicating Bai Ze had planned to pull him down as a scapegoat if things went awry!
"Saraf! I’m no philanthropist! Did you really think I saved you just out of camaraderie?" Driven into desperation, Bai Ze shouted hoarsely, sneering at the enraged Saraf, "Now, it’s time for your payback!"
"Ha ha ha, a bunch of molting monkeys, why do you think I’ll follow your orders?" Saraf glanced dismissively at Bai Ze.
"I never expected mere acts of goodwill to gain surrender; I prefer methods to control and master everything!" Bai Ze said, raising a palm aimed at Saraf, as he circulated source energy to activate the spell lurking within Saraf, who let out a cry of anguish. His massive body descended from the sky, turning the garden into rubble, forcing all present to halt their fighting and withdraw.
"What have you done to me!" Saraf’s huge dragon head expressed unbearable pain, his body struggling fiercely, causing the ground beneath him to tremble. After spewing several mouthfuls of Dragon Breath randomly around, he roared to the sky.
"Blame your greed! My Blood Demon’s Divine Artifact is hard to digest when swallowed! Rest assured! With your ability, even using the teacher-given Dharma Seal with the Divine Artifact Soul, you’ll only be held temporarily. Afterward, you’ll regain freedom, but for now, serve me to ward off calamity!"
Saying this, Bai Ze shouted to Nero and the others, "Why are you still standing there! Hurry and retreat!"
"Think you can just leave! Not that easily!" Momentarily stunned by the sudden giant dragon, Pei Yan finally recalled that this dragon was one of his Dragon Realm objectives, the former Saraf. Though he couldn’t fathom how it emerged from the seal, it’s evident that Bai Ze planned to use it to delay him and escape.
Roar! Saraf roared, his enormous body rising, wings stirring turbulent waves, disrupting the formations of everyone present. Amidst the teams closing in on the Blood Demon members, Saraf, now controlled in chaos by the devouring Divine Artifact Soul, swept everyone back with his dragon tail, then opened his mouth ready to blast Dragon Breath toward the approaching Pei Yan!
Ow! Within the pavilion ruins, a furious wolf howl echoed, followed by intense sounds of breaking structures, as a gigantic wolf leaped into the fray. Hu Jiu, no longer in his earlier silver-haired form, transformed into a mechanical giant beast after sharing powers through a contract with Pei Yan, his metallic sheen body gleaming under the setting sun.
Roar!
Ow!
The two fierce beasts sensed each other’s threat, and despite Hu Jiu turning back into his original form, greatly exceeding ten times his human size, his twenty-meter stature was dwarfed by the nearly four hundred meters long Destructive Dragon, Saraf, appearing insignificant and vulnerable.
