Chapter 6: PROFESSIONAL REVENGE PLANNING
The afternoon inside the Xi Manor remained quiet as Su Yueqing was finally escorted away from the main hall.
Several maids walked ahead of her while servants carrying lantern stands and ceremonial items followed silently behind. Bright sunlight still poured across the long stone pathways of the manor, reflecting against the calm ponds and polished corridors connected to the different residences of the Xi family.
The wedding celebration outside was still ongoing faintly in the distance.
But deeper inside the manor, the atmosphere had already become calmer and more secluded.
Su Yueqing walked steadily behind the servants, her red wedding robes dragging softly against the ground while the golden phoenix embroidery shimmered beneath the sunlight.
Her posture remained straight and elegant from beginning to end.
Inside her mind, however—
[This manor is ridiculously huge.]
[If somebody told me this was a palace instead of a duke residence, I would believe them immediately.]
Her gaze swept lazily across another long corridor.
[Seriously.]
[How many courtyards does one family even need?]
The two Xi guards escorting her from a distance stiffened slightly.
Because they were close enough to hear her thoughts.
One immediately lowered his head harder.
The other looked straight ahead with painful determination, pretending he heard absolutely nothing.
Meanwhile, Su Yueqing calmly continued walking through the enormous estate.
The further inward they went, the quieter the surroundings became.
Eventually, the servants stopped before a beautiful courtyard residence hidden near a peaceful bamboo garden.
The gates opened slowly.
"This is Young Madam’s residence," one maid said respectfully.
Su Yueqing stepped inside calmly.
The courtyard itself was elegant and clean. Flower trees swayed lightly beneath the afternoon breeze while small streams curved around the stone pathways. Bamboo shadows stretched across the ground, giving the entire place a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
At first glance, it looked very comfortable.
The servants quickly led her further inward.
"This way, Young Madam."
Su Yueqing followed them quietly until they finally entered the main chamber prepared for her.
The room had already been arranged carefully for the wedding. Red silk curtains hung around the bed while expensive furniture stood neatly throughout the chamber. The windows were half-open, allowing soft sunlight and the scent of flowers to drift gently into the room.
One maid smiled politely.
"The servants have already prepared everything for Young Madam."
Another maid bowed respectfully before speaking again.
"This chamber will become the place where Young Madam and Young Master rest together in the future."
"After Young Madam gives birth to little masters and little misses, the children will also be raised here."
Su Yueqing listened calmly without interrupting.
Her eyes slowly swept across the room once again.
Then her gaze paused slightly.
Inside her mind—
[Hm.]
[Something is wrong.]
The guards outside immediately became alert again.
Su Yueqing slowly walked further inward while continuing her thoughts calmly.
[This is not the residence prepared for the lawful wife of the eldest Xi son.]
[If I remember correctly, the future Duchess of the Xi family should stay in Jade Spring Courtyard.]
[Closer to the central manor.]
[Higher authority.]
[Higher status.]
She paused slightly while looking around again.
[This courtyard is beautiful, but it is clearly a secondary residence.]
The maids standing nearby suddenly felt nervous under her silence.
Meanwhile, Su Yueqing quietly reached the answer herself.
[So Li Mei already started moving pieces around.]
[As expected.]
[Changing courtyard arrangements on the very first day to provoke the villain wife.]
[Classic heroine strategy.]
The guards outside exchanged shocked glances silently.
Because once again—
She was completely correct.
Li Mei truly had interfered with the arrangements earlier.
Claiming that Xi Wenzhe preferred this courtyard temporarily, she had successfully convinced the servants to move Su Yueqing away from the original Jade Spring Courtyard prepared for the lawful wife.
Inside her mind, Su Yueqing sounded more amused than angry.
[Honestly, she is very hardworking.]
[The wedding barely started and she already began plotting.]
[Professional level revenge planning.]
But after another moment—
Her thoughts suddenly changed direction.
[Still...]
She glanced toward the peaceful bamboo garden outside the windows.
[This place is actually nice.]
[Quiet.]
[Less crowded.]
[Fewer annoying people walking around pretending to be important.]
She slowly sat down beside the bed calmly.
[I honestly do not mind losing a few villain points for this.]
[I was never really interested in luxury or oversized palaces anyway.]
[Living peacefully is much more comfortable.]
The guards outside looked completely stunned.
Because according to the original plot—
The original Su Yueqing should have exploded in anger immediately after realizing she had been assigned the wrong courtyard.
She was supposed to smash things, scream at servants, accuse Li Mei publicly, and create a huge conflict inside the manor.
That event was one of the first major reasons Xi Wenzhe began truly despising his lawful wife.
But now—
This Su Yueqing simply looked around calmly and accepted everything without much concern.
Inside the room, the maids nervously observed her expression, clearly waiting for her temper to erupt.
Instead, Su Yueqing simply removed the heavy phoenix crown from her head before speaking lightly.
"You may leave first."
The servants blinked in surprise.
"...Young Madam?"
"I said leave."
Her voice remained calm, but the coldness inside it immediately made the maids lower their heads.
"Yes, Young Madam."
Soon, the servants hurried out one after another until Su Yueqing was finally left alone inside the quiet chamber.
The room instantly became peaceful again.
Su Yueqing leaned slightly against the edge of the bed and stretched her shoulders tiredly.
Then—
A familiar blue screen flickered before her eyes.

Su Yueqing stared at it silently.
"...Seriously?"
[Host failed to create conflict during important plot progression.]
She almost laughed.
"So accepting peaceful housing counts as kindness now?"
[Correct.]
Su Yueqing clicked her tongue softly.
"This system truly has terrible standards."
