Chapter 39: Chapter 37: The Lord Major General Is Awake
While they were eating, Su Mo took out the RIO her system had given her.
Yue Ying stared at the bottle curiously, turning it over and over. "Wife, what is this?"
"A beverage. Hmm... It’s similar to the fruit wine here in the Beast World, but the alcohol content is much lower." freewёbnoνel.com
Fei Yan figured out what it was almost immediately.
RIO?
He took a tentative sip. Hmm. Compared to the fruit wine of the Beast World, this seemed lighter and sweeter, and it had something else to it.
Very refreshing.
Su Mo had just finished half a bottle when she heard Fei Yan say, "Wife, don’t drink too much."
Su Mo froze, then narrowed her eyes. "Why not...? My alcohol tolerance..."
After what happened last time, she didn’t dare brag about it.
She narrowed her eyes and smiled awkwardly. "It’s decent enough!"
’Good heavens! I didn’t actually get drunk and hit on Fei Yan yesterday, did I? Why else would he be so sensitive about me drinking this stuff?’
Hearing this, the three men opposite her all froze.
Fei Yan gripped his chopsticks, not daring to look up. As he recalled the scenes from yesterday, he couldn’t stop the tips of his ears from turning red.
He had always thought of himself as a proper gentleman, but for a moment yesterday, he’d wanted to be a true, bona fide ’hypocrite’...
Yue Ying and Mo Xiao were seething with jealousy.
Just imagining their wife drunk was enough to make them unbearably jealous.
It also made them more curious about what had actually happened yesterday.
But the moment they imagined the scene Su Mo had just described, both Yue Ying and Mo Xiao’s chests tightened in frustration.
’Whatever. If I don’t remember it, it didn’t happen! I wouldn’t admit to it even if God himself came down from heaven!!!’
With that thought, Su Mo stuffed a piece of beef into her mouth. freewebnoveℓ.com
’That’s weird, why have all three of them stopped eating? And they’re making such strange faces...’
Su Mo forced an awkward smile. "Go on, eat. Why has everyone stopped?"
"We are." Yue Ying picked up a piece of mutton, dipped it into the saucer of vinegar before him, and offered it to Fei Yan.
He said through gritted teeth, "High Priest, you must have worked *so hard* taking care of our wife yesterday. Have some more!"
"Ahem."
Su Mo almost choked.
’This damn fox really knows which buttons to push...’
After lunch, Su Mo and the two little dragon cubs washed the dishes. The three men all had business to attend to and went out.
After cleaning up, Su Mo settled down for an afternoon nap.
She’d worked like a dog in her past life; in this one, she just wanted to live freely.
Perhaps because of the small incident on her way back that morning, Su Mo’s nap was not a peaceful one.
In a state between sleep and wakefulness, she felt as if someone was standing by her bed, their hand reaching out to strangle her.
She woke with a jolt, sitting bolt upright in bed.
She reached up to touch her neck. ’Strange, it actually hurts a little.’
Her gaze shifted, landing on the door. It was ajar. She remembered clearly that she had closed it before going to sleep.
Su Mo rolled her neck, threw off the beast-hide blanket, and got out of bed.
It was already dusk outside.
Her house was nestled against a small hill, with a clear stream winding past to the west. It was an excellent location.
If she renovated the house a little, it would be the perfect place to relax and recharge.
In her old world, this would be a priceless, secluded villa—a true paradise.
When Su Mo thought of this, her eyes lit up.
The Beast World had plenty of wood. She could totally rebuild this place into a small wooden lodge!
With that in mind, she took out a pen and paper and sketched a simple blueprint.
Next, she would have to earn some money. The lumber might be free, but she’d have to pay for other materials, and probably for labor too.
Although she had her system, there was a daily limit on how much Beast World currency she could exchange. Besides, the exchange also cost points.
So, she had to figure out a way to earn money here in the Beast World.
After finishing her drawing, Su Mo stepped out of the house and saw Ah Nuan approaching with a Female she didn’t recognize.
"Su Mo, let me introduce you to a friend."
Ah Nuan and the woman stopped in front of Su Mo. Ah Nuan smiled, "This is Little Hong, my next-door neighbor. She came to see you about... you know."
As Ah Nuan spoke, Su Mo sized up the woman before her. Her complexion was sallow and she had acne; she looked like she had a hormonal imbalance.
She checked the woman’s pulse. "It’s a small issue. I’ll prescribe some medicine to get you rebalanced."
Then, she casually picked up a piece of paper from the table, wrote a prescription for Little Hong, and handed it to her. "You can find the herbs on the mountain, or you can buy them from Huang Ming."
Little Hong blushed slightly. "I’d also like a dress like Ah Nuan’s."
Su Mo paused for a second, then smiled. "I have them! But it’ll be eight coins."
"I’ll pay."
Little Hong took a pouch from her pocket, counted out eight coins, and handed them over.
Su Mo redeemed an outfit from her system—the same style she had given Ah Nuan—and handed it to her.
Little Hong glanced down at it, then put it into her beast-hide bag with a blush.
Su Mo looked at the acne on Little Hong’s face. "I also have face masks, specifically for treating pimples like yours. Interested?"
Little Hong’s eyes lit up. Touching the blemishes on her face, she asked in disbelief, "Do they work?"
"Of course!" Su Mo said, pointing to her own face. "My complexion is all thanks to these."
Only then did Ah Nuan and Little Hong take a closer look at Su Mo’s face. And they had to admit, her complexion really was much better than before.
Her features hadn’t changed, but her skin had become fair and smooth—a world of difference from its previous sallow, dark tone.
She looked much fresher and more pleasant overall.
"Can I get results like yours?"
"Not overnight, but if you use them consistently, you’ll definitely see an improvement!"
The masks developed in the System Laboratory were extremely effective. After all, in the words of Little Nine, using the lab to create such things was complete overkill.
After Su Mo’s enthusiastic sales pitch, Little Hong pulled out another sixteen coins and bought four masks.
Su Mo accepted the money with a wide grin. "Come back again if you like them."
The three of them chatted for a bit, then Ah Nuan and Little Hong left, arm in arm.
Su Mo looked at the sky; it was time to start making dinner.
She had just grabbed a handful of wild vegetables to wash when she saw Ah Nuan coming back.
Ah Nuan grabbed Su Mo’s hand and pressed twenty coins into it. "I want five of those masks!"
Su Mo handed her six. "Here’s an extra one, on the house!"
"Thanks so much!"
"Don’t mention it! What are good friends for?"
Thoroughly charmed by Su Mo’s sweet talk, Ah Nuan went back happily with her purchase.
Su Mo hummed a little tune as she washed the vegetables by the river. She was sure it wouldn’t be long before Ah Nuan spread the word for her. Then her face masks would be bestsellers in the tribe!
’I’ll use the lab to research some other gadgets later,’ she thought. ’There are always ways to make money.’
Once the vegetables were washed, Su Mo stood up and headed back.
Before she even reached her door, she heard the voices of the two little dragon cubs coming from inside the house.
"Lord Major General!"
"Lord Major General is awake! I have to go tell Sister Mo this good news!"
Su Mo froze. ’The dragon’s awake?!’
She immediately quickened her pace, heading for the door.
The moment to verify the results of her treatment had arrived. She couldn’t help but feel a thrill of excitement!
