Chapter 36: Chapter 34: How About I Let You Kiss Me?

The alcohol was getting to Su Mo. Her head was a mess, and all she wanted to do was sleep.

It felt like someone was whispering in her ear.

What was most unbearable was the hand on her waist. It felt like a branding iron, searing her with its heat.

"Ngh..."

She frowned instinctively, letting out a soft groan as she tried to push the person away.

Her soft, warm palm came to rest on Fei Yan’s chest. To him, the force was negligible.

But it made him freeze. Almost instinctively, he pulled her flush against him, drawing her completely into his embrace.

His other hand caressed her slender neck. "Still want to kiss me?" he asked, his voice low and husky.

Beneath the calm surface of his deep eyes, a tempest raged unseen.

He reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, his long fingers brushing past the delicate curve of her pale ear.

He coaxed softly, "I’ll let you kiss me, how about that?"

Su Mo felt a tickle on her neck and instinctively shied away. It felt like there was a furnace in front of her, and the heat was making her uncomfortable.

She struggled to open her eyes. The figure before her was a blurry, overlapping mess.

She tilted her face up, her damp eyelashes trembling gently. A fog swirled in her eyes, rippling with emotion.

That single glance was enough to shatter Fei Yan’s composure.

Su Mo gently raised a hand to her lips and smiled drowsily. "Shh... so sleepy... time for bed..."

With that, she struggled to climb down from the table.

The hand wrapped around her waist prevented a smooth escape. Instead, as she looked up, her lips unintentionally brushed against the corner of his mouth.

Her sweet scent, mingled with the aroma of wine, instantly filled his senses.

"Momo..."

He cupped her face, wanting to deepen the kiss.

The next second, Su Mo’s head lolled to the side, and she collapsed completely in his arms.

Fei Yan closed his eyes and took a deep breath, holding it for a long moment to regain his composure.

Finally, he scooped her up and gently laid her on the bed.

His long, slender fingers gently brushed the hair from her face.

In that moment, Fei Yan realized he was greedier than anyone. He didn’t just want her; he wanted all of her.

A knock sounded at the door. Fei Yan opened it, accepted a change of clothes, and placed them by the head of the bed before turning to leave again.

A good while later, he returned to the room.

They didn’t leave the town that night. Su Mo was completely wasted, and since it had started to rain in the evening, they decided to stay at the Bai Hua Pavilion.

Back in the village, Mo Xiao, Yue Ying, and the Little Dragons had been eagerly awaiting their return since the afternoon.

But night fell, and there was still no sign of Fei Yan and Su Mo.

It was now the middle of the night. The fox was still sitting in the courtyard, his vacant gaze fixed on the pitch-blackness outside as he sighed over and over.

His pathetic state was starting to get on Mo Xiao’s nerves, making it impossible for him to stay calm.

Frowning, he kicked the stool under Yue Ying. "Get a grip."

Yue Ying scoffed, the fan in his hand whipping back and forth at an incredible speed. "Who are you trying to fool with that calm act? If you were really so composed, wouldn’t you have gone to bed hours ago?!"

"Everyone says the High Priest is calm and self-possessed, but I don’t see it. The very first time he takes our wife out, he stays away all night! He’s definitely got improper designs on her! He always pretends he’s not competing, not vying for favor, but it was all just a scheme!"

Yue Ying whipped his head around to face Mo Xiao, his voice fraught with irritation. "Let me ask you this: What will you do if Fei Yan becomes the main husband?"

Mo Xiao’s hands, hanging at his sides, clenched into tight fists.

After a long moment, they slowly unclenched.

"If he really has what it takes, I’ll accept it," Mo Xiao said, his voice low. "It doesn’t matter who becomes the main husband. As long as she’s happy, that’s all that matters."

As for him, all he asked for was a place by her side.

Mo Xiao felt that things wouldn’t necessarily go the way they imagined. It all depended on what Su Mo herself wanted. She wasn’t the same person she used to be.

Yue Ying fanned himself and scoffed, "Look at you, being so magnanimous."

Mo Xiao raised an eyebrow. "Just a word of advice: if you haven’t given up the idea of having our wife all to yourself, I’m afraid you’re in for a world of hurt."

The motion of Yue Ying’s fan faltered. He understood all that; as a member of the Fox Clan, he prided himself on being several steps ahead of everyone else.

But some feelings were simply uncontrollable, especially for someone from the naturally sensitive Fox Clan.

Knowing something and feeling it were two completely different things.

Su Mo slept like the dead, a testament to how truly drunk she’d been. She didn’t stir until the sun was high in the sky the next day.

Drowsily, she became aware of a parched mouth and a scratchy throat.

When she opened her eyes, she was greeted by an unfamiliar sight. ’Where am I?’

CREEAAK—

Su Mo turned her head just in time to see Fei Yan push the door open and enter, holding a bowl.

"Drink some warm water, my wife."

Fei Yan handed her the bowl, then lowered his head and stepped away.

Su Mo couldn’t help but glance at him, and their gazes met by chance.

’Is it my imagination, or is Fei Yan blushing? But why?’

Su Mo lowered her head and took a sip of water. It was a small relief for a throat that felt as dry as sandpaper.

Suddenly, Little Nine’s voice rang out in her mind. "Congratulations, Host! Fei Yan’s favorability has reached 60. As a system reward, your Spiritual Spring Space and laboratory area have been doubled."

Su Mo asked in confusion, ’How did it go up so much in one night?! Did something happen last night?’

The very second she finished asking the question, Fei Yan’s face turned an even deeper shade of red.

Su Mo frowned. ’Why is he being so weird this morning?’

Little Nine replied, "Do you really not remember, or are you just too embarrassed to?"

"...Er, so, what on earth happened!?"

"You hit on him yesterday!"

’Me?!’ Su Mo cried out internally. ’Good heavens, have I gotten that bold?!’

’But on second thought, that seems unlikely.’

’I was drunk. How could I have possibly hit on him?’

Su Mo raised an eyebrow. "Heh, you’re trying to trick me, aren’t you, you damned system? Fine. Tell me in detail. How exactly did I hit on him?"

As a system, Little Nine’s ability to spin a yarn was naturally top-notch.

So it launched into a vivid and highly embellished description of the previous night.

With one small change, of course: it swapped their roles in the story.

Su Mo’s eyes widened as she listened. ’You’re saying I wanted to sleep with him? But I failed because I was too drunk?!’

Nearby, Fei Yan’s hands clenched. He kept his head bowed, not daring to look at Su Mo at all.

Little Nine said without a hint of shame, "That’s the gist of it."

Su Mo’s mind raced. ’That’s not right. Sure, I like reading smutty novels and appreciating a good set of abs, but I only dare to think about that stuff. When it comes to the real deal, I...’

’Stop trying to fool me! I’m not an idiot. Why would I want to sleep with the villain!’ fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"You were drunk! Lust addled your brain!"

’That’s bullshit! I was a complete wreck, how could I possibly have been thinking about that! If I really had that on my mind, I would have definitely sealed the deal last night!’

"...Hold on, Host. Aren’t you a bit too confident in yourself? With your plain, unremarkable looks, do you really think you could have pulled it off?!"

’Exactly! So you must be lying to me. Nothing happened between us. There’s no way he could be interested in someone like me.’

’Besides, I’m a woman of principle! I absolutely cannot touch the villain! There are plenty of other handsome men in the Beast World, and my life is more important!’

Little Nine was speechless. ’He was so worked up by you that he had to go "practice his spear" for ages, and you’re saying nothing happened?’

’Does your conscience not hurt at all?!’
