Chapter 755: Chapter 755: Marine Gathering (1)
Meanwhile, in the Marine hospital ward, Jerry laid motionless on his bed. His long, lanky body was wrapped tightly in white bandages. He tried to move however he felt a sharp pain. He thought of the Demon King and the Love Pirates.
Jerry thought that man was the reason for this. He stared blankly at the ceiling. He thought he had been beaten twice by them. He thought he was just a random pirate however he possessed such power.
"You are thinking of him again," a voice said.
"That man is the reason I am like this Wanze," Jerry said as he looked over. "Oh," he added as he felt a sharp pain.
Wanze was tucked in a similar cocoon of bandages. "You should try not to move," he said as he tried to move his hand. "Oh," he said as he also felt a sharp pain.
"That goes for you as well," Jerry replied.
"They are on my mind as well," Wanze remarked as he looked up at the ceiling. "They also defeated me twice," he added.
"We both have been demoted because of them," Jerry said as he felt angry.
"And now we will be missing one of the most important missions," Wanze added.
They both were quiet. They were both elite agents and yet they had been tossed aside like scrap paper.
Meanwhile, in a high-security medical wing at a different Marine base on a different island , the air was filled with the rhythmic wheezing of a ventilator. Spandam laid in bed. He was paralyzed for life. His spine was shattered beyond repair. Bandages covered every inch of his body,
He thought he was a Cipher Pol chief and elite, His one remaining eye was darting frantically under the bandages. He thought back to them and memories came flooding back.
He saw Saphir’s cold eyes as she whispered "Shoryo no Mizu," and the water droplets pierced his limbs like bullets. He felt the sickening crunch of his nose shattering under Raki’s boot, and the absolute agony of Mikita’s "Gravity Stomp" as she crushed his kneecaps into powder.
They laughed, he thought. A cold shiver running through his body. He thought while he was bleeding, they were laughing.
He remembered the searing heat of Conis’s flames charring his skin, and the cruel "mercy" of Honey’s Re-energy blast. He thought it hadn’t saved him but it had simply refilled his pain tank. He remembered Zala slashing his eye and Nojiko`s lightning bolt tearing through his chest.
Finally, the memory of Alvida’s iron mace, shattering his spin. He thought when he was paralyzed, that blue-haired woman, Vivi had promised. Her words echoed in his mind like a curse, "Your body will remember this, you will remember you failed." Those words rang in his mind.
At that moment, a man with a square jaw walked in. He had grey hair. His beard was black which was long and sharp goatee. He had a small toothbrush mustache. His face has wrinkled. He had a white coat and black jeans. He had black shoes as well. The man walked in. Spandine walked in. "The paperwork is moving, Spandam my son. We’re going to frame CP9 for the entire Enies Lobby disaster," he said. "They’ll be hunted like dogs while you’re promoted to CP0," he added.
"Father," Spandam wheezed. "I can’t feel my legs," he said weakly. "I can’t move my arms," he added. "Those women, they had crushed my body," he said. "They are monsters," Spandam said.
"Hush, son," Spandine hissed. "We will have the best scientists in the World Government to rebuild you," he said with anger. "Whatever it takes," he added. "You will have your revenge on that ’Demon King’ and them," he said. "We will make them suffer a thousand times worse than this," he said. "They don’t know what they are up against," Spandine said.
Spandam’s one eye welled with tears of pure, concentrated malice. He thought, yes, for revenge. I’ll frame Lucci. I’ll blame Kaku. And when the Marines hunt down Ben’s crew, I want to be the one to pull the trigger on them, especially the blue-haired one.
"Revenge," Spandam gurgled through the blood in his throat. "I want to see them break," he added.
"And you will, my son," Spandine said.
On the deck of a Marine battleship cutting through the Grand Line, Hina leaned against the railing. Her eyes were fixed on the churning blue waves. There was a deep flush on her cheeks.
Ben, Hina thought. Her heart fluttered in a way that made her feel sick. She thought she was a good sick. Hina thought how shameless she was. She thought she was a Marine who could become a Vice Admiral and yet, Hina can’t stop thinking about the way he moved. The way he looked at me. She thought how shameless he was.
Behind her, a group of Marine subordinates huddled together. They were whispering frantically. "Look at Captain Hina, she’s all red and staring at the ocean again," one Marine said.
"Do you think she’s sick?" the second Marine asked. He looked at Hina.
"She fought that Demon King head-to-head," another whispered solemnly.
"The one part of the Love Pirates?" one Marine questioned as he held his sword.
"Yes, led by Captain Alvida," the first Marine replied.
"I heard there are only women besides that one man, the Demon King," the second Marine added.
"It must have been a traumatic battle," a Marine said. "The psychological toll of facing a monster like that is awful. We have to do something to cheer her up," he added.
"Get back to your stations. If the deck isn’t spotless in ten minutes, Hina will not be happy," Hina barked suddenly. She didn’t turn around, but her voice was sharp.
"Yes, Ma’am!" the Marines shouted as they had hearts in their eyes. They started scurrying away and cleaning the deck.
Hina sighed as she gripped the railing. She thought there would be a major war against one of the Four Emperors of the Sea and her Hina was acting like a lovestruck recruit.
Far away on another vessel, Alpha sat in her private cabin. She tapped a pen against a classified report. She read the headline which said, "Intelligence Report 2051: Kaido making a move."
"What a headache," Alpha muttered as she rubbed her temples. "Heading to Marineford for a global execution is bad enough, but if the King of Beasts decides it makes a bad situation worse," she said.
She sat at her desk, the light of a single lamp casting sharp, dramatic shadows across her pale skin. She was dressed in black bra and black panties. She had a sheer, black silk robe that slid precariously off one shoulder. Her long legs were crossed. She then picked up a poster in her hand.
"Demon King Ben," she whispered.
She reached out. Her slender fingers traced the jawline on the bounty poster. The paper was already wrinkled from her touch. She had a dozen red circles overlapped like a bloody halo on his face.
She had seen his poster everyday. She thought about how he did it. She thought how did he take a woman trained by the World Government, her own blood and turn her into his ally.
She picked up her pen as she drew yet another circle. "You aren’t a man," she hissed at the poster. "You’re a virus. You get under the skin. You make them forget their duty, their family, their pride," she said.
She stood up abruptly. The robe fluttered around her ankles as she paced the small cabin. She caught her own reflection in the mirror. She stopped, staring at herself. She looked at the sharp curve of her hips, the swell of her breasts beneath the silk, the cold beauty that had made her one of the most effective agents in the service.
"Am I not better than her?" Alpha asked the empty room. "Am I not stronger? More devoted?" she asked.
She walked back to the desk and picked up the poster. She brought it close to her face. She pressed her lips to the center of the poster. It was a hard, bruising kiss that left a faint smudge of lipstick over Ben’s mouth.
"I will be the one," she murmured against the paper, her eyes snapping shut. "I will find you, Ben. I will put you in chains. And when you’re bleeding at my feet, I’ll show Kalifa that her ’King’ is nothing but a man," she said. She let out a sharp, jagged laugh. Her head tilted back as she clutched the poster to her chest. "And then... once you’re broken, you’ll belong to me," she said.
The ship hit a sudden wave, jarring the room, but Alpha didn’t even stumble. She just smoothed out the poster and placed it back on the desk.
She then looked up and thought of Marineford. She thought the summons were. The world is about to tilt on its axis.
