Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Don’t Touch Me!
Gu Xingyu: ...
The lizard: *Smiles.*
Gu Zhao quietly walked over. "Um, could you crouch down for a second?"
Gu Xingyu didn’t crouch. He just reached up, plucked the lizard from his head, and handed it to Gu Zhao.
Only then did it dawn on Gu Zhao that not all older brothers were afraid of animals.
"Thanks." Gu Zhao took the lizard. The lizard, a little embarrassed, nuzzled its head against Gu Zhao’s fingers.
Gu Xingyu: "Don’t ever appear in my sight again."
Gu Zhao smiled and nodded. "I’ll send them away in a bit."
Gu Xingyu frowned. "And you too..."
Gu Zhao’s grin vanished. She turned on her heel and walked away.
Seeing her leave, Gu Xingyu heaved a sigh of relief. ’She’s finally gone. Please, just don’t come back.’
’What a pain.’
’I don’t want a little sister!’
Gu Zhao stormed out of the house, huffing in anger. She picked a random direction and started walking with the lizard, getting angrier with every step.
"What does he mean by that?! So high and mighty! Acting like I’m the one desperately clinging to him! Who’d want him for a brother anyway!"
The lizard tilted its head. "Big Sis, you don’t like him?"
"I don’t!" Gu Zhao was still fuming.
The lizard thought for a moment. "Well, Big Sis, you probably won’t see him for much longer. I overheard some people talking when I was out hunting for food. They said they’re coming to teach him a lesson in a few days. Something about him losing something, and how they’ll see if he can still act so high and mighty after that."
Gu Zhao’s muttered curses trailed off. "Losing what?"
The lizard tried its best to remember, then lowered its head guiltily. "I’m sorry... I forgot."
Gu Zhao stroked it, lost in thought.
’So the System was right, he’s the one who’s going to get robbed. But why do I feel like Gu Xingyu is more suited to be the thief?’
’He doesn’t even make a sound when he walks.’
’Forget it! I can meddle in his business—this is for the sake of my future wealth, after all—but I refuse to just take this insult lying down!’
’He hurt my feelings for a minute! I’ll make him fear me, Gu Zhao, for a lifetime!’
’He finds me annoying?’ Gu Zhao silently made a vow. ’Fine, I’ll give him a real reason to be annoyed! It’s not like I’ll be here after tomorrow anyway!’
Scratching her head, Gu Zhao had a flash of inspiration.
"Go get all your friends! We’re going to throw a party!"
’You don’t want to see me? I’ll make sure you see me everywhere!’
However, she exercised some restraint, not inviting a huge crowd of people to torment him.
Just some animals.
"I’m so nice, right, Big Python?" Gu Zhao said, looking with satisfaction at a python that lived nearby.
Who would have thought that a friend of a friend of a little lizard’s friend was a giant python.
The giant python nodded. "Little one, pet me~"
The tip of the large snake’s tail swayed gently, and it even snuck a little rub against Gu Zhao’s shoe.
Gu Zhao gave it a pat. For a moment, the girl and the snake were a picture of peace and tranquility.
The snipers hiding outside the villa were about to cry. ’How did it get in?!’
They hurriedly notified Zhang Bai.
But upon hearing the news, Zhang Bai grew even more excited! ’This is a rare talent!’
"Don’t make a scene. In fact, you can lock down the news. Besides you all, I don’t want anyone else to know about Miss Gu Zhao’s special ability."
Zhang Bai thought of the python again. "As long as that python doesn’t hurt anyone, leave it be. But if it shows any sign of aggression... shoot to kill."
After hanging up, Zhang Bai was still buzzing with excitement. ’One hundred percent friendly with animals! She can even control them! How fucking cool is that!’
’Good thing I acted fast!’
’If those bio-gene researchers found out about her... that would be dangerous.’
The snipers stationed outside the villa silently watched as Gu Zhao stealthily led the giant python inside.
But that wasn’t all. She came out again a moment later, this time to greet a few crocodiles...
They recognized them. These crocodiles were from the nearby waters and were vicious as hell.
The crocodiles grinned, their massive jaws wide. The more they smiled, the uglier they looked. Gu Zhao couldn’t bear to watch and whacked them on the head. In response, the crocodiles’ smiles became even more fawning...
Like a bunch of dogs.
The snipers: ...
After a dozen or so trips, most of the animal guests had finally arrived.
Looking at the villa full of animals, Gu Zhao was a little puzzled. ’How is it that no one has intervened despite all this commotion?’
What she didn’t know was that the area was deserted to begin with, and a few dutiful snipers were blocking anyone from entering.
Gu Zhao scratched her head. She decided not to think about it. ’No one stopping me means it’s allowed.’
She and the animals started playing wildly in the villa, and she even took all the food out of the refrigerator to share.
A few monkeys showed up on their own, bananas in hand.
The other animals looked at them resentfully. ’Oh, look at you with the high EQ!’
Under their gaze, the monkeys ran behind Gu Zhao and held their heads high.
They had the smug air of someone who thought they owned the world.
The other animals: ...
Upstairs.
Gu Xingyu was in his bedroom catching up on sleep when he heard a ruckus downstairs!
He shot upright and listened to the sounds from outside his room.
’Thumping and jumping... it sounds like there are a lot of people...’
He was startled by his own thought, the hair on his arms standing on end.
’Impossible! How could there be people in my house!’
Gu Xingyu grabbed his phone and checked the security feed. This time, he didn’t see a smiling lizard.
Instead, he saw a crowd of smiling animals...
And in the center of the crowd of animals, Gu Zhao was jumping up and down.
Gu Xingyu watched her figure, his brow tightly furrowed. "Her dancing is so ugly."
But his eyes held a trace of yearning and envy.
He unconsciously opened the door and went downstairs.
The moment he reached the bottom of the stairs and his eyes met Gu Zhao’s, Gu Xingyu realized what he had just done!
He panicked a little and turned to flee back to what he considered his safe space.
But it was too late.
When Gu Zhao saw him, she gave him a wicked grin. "My grand army! Stop him! Let’s all play together!"
The animals instantly pounced.
The monkeys scrambled up and down, leaping to the landing to block his path.
The other animals swarmed him.
Gu Xingyu grew tense, but then his slippers were snatched away—one by each of the two crocodiles!
A monkey hung from his neck, chewing on his hair!
Suddenly, Gu Xingyu felt a cool draft on his rear...
He looked down to see a fox clinging to each leg, their teeth sunk into his pajama pants.
The pants had already been pulled down a fair bit...
Gu Xingyu immediately blushed beet-red and grabbed his pants with both hands.
"Let go!"
The foxes’ ears drooped, their faces a mask of innocence.
’Sumimasen, can’t hear you.’
"BWAHAHAHAHAHA!" Gu Zhao laughed so hard she doubled over. ’My brother’s butt is so pale.’
Gu Xingyu’s face turned an even deeper shade of red, but he didn’t feel any fear.
Seeing how happy Gu Zhao was, the other animals’ eyes darted toward Gu Xingyu.
Gu Xingyu suddenly had a very bad feeling. The next moment, all the animals swarmed him.
"AAAAAH DON’T TOUCH ME!" Gu Xingyu’s pupils dilated. "Don’t touch!"
A few monkeys started pulling off his shirt!
The crocodiles had an epiphany! Their eyes went wide. They spat out the slippers and bit down on his pant legs, pulling along with the foxes.
Gu Xingyu: "AAAAAH DON’T TOUCH MY PANTS!"
"DON’T TOUCH MY SHIRT!"
"DON’T TOUCH ME!!"
Gu Zhao was rolling on the floor with laughter.
More and more animals joined the great clothes-stealing battle.
Soon, his pants were gone...
His shirt went flying and was finally snatched by a small monkey, who draped it over its own body and twirled in front of Gu Xingyu.
Gu Xingyu: ...
Before he could react, the animals that hadn’t gotten any clothes set their sights on his underwear...
Gu Xingyu: ??!!!!
He turned tail and ran.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Outside the villa.
"What a bloodcurdling scream..." The snipers couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat. ’Just how badly is our aloof Commander being bullied to scream like that?’
"Should we go in and check? This sounds awful. I hope nothing bad is happening," another sniper’s voice came over the radio.
"Assistant Zhang told us to stay out of it. I just asked."
"Well now, what’s all this?" A middle-aged man walked up to the base of the tree.
The man in the tree jumped down. "Uncle Wang, what are you doing here now? Isn’t it a bit early for the meal delivery?"
Uncle Wang chuckled. "It’s a hot day, so I brought you boys some sour plum soup. Have a taste, and then take some to the others."
The sniper wasn’t suspicious. Everyone had known Uncle Wang for a long time. He was always the one who delivered meals to them and the Commander. The young man from this morning was his son.
"Alright, thanks, Uncle Wang!" The sniper took the basket from him and left right away.
