Chapter 47: Chapter 47: You Took a Shower?
The moment the viewers saw him ask for his phone, they knew exactly what he was about to do.
In a matter of seconds, the live comments, which had been discussing the plot, turned into a unified front of would-be kidnappers...
[Brother Lin! I grew up watching your shows! This is tough love! Just give Gu Zhao to me!]
[Brother Lin! Can you ask Gu Zhao what color burlap sack she prefers?!]
[My cat says it wants to marry Gu Zhao. Brother Lin, how much is the bride price? I’ll start saving up.]
[Brother Lin, you know I’ve never had a little sister. My heart aches whenever I see other people with theirs. So, Brother Lin, can you please let me have Gu Zhao as my little sister?]
Gu Xulin’s face was dark.
"Can we please be serious!" he said, glaring at the live-streaming drone.
Gu Xulin didn’t want to watch anymore. He handed the phone to Ye Zexi. "Just watch the clips the viewers recorded. You can watch the whole thing that way.
If you’re still skeptical, call the director and watch the complete replay."
Ye Zexi took the phone. Of course, he wasn’t going to believe the live comments.
He directly called his older brother’s assistant.
The phone rang a few times before someone picked up. Upon hearing Ye Zexi’s voice, the person on the other end was all business.
Clearly, this wasn’t the first time they’d been bossed around by Ye Zexi.
But you had to hand it to them, the assistant was competent. They called back about ten minutes later.
After hearing the assistant’s report, Ye Zexi’s expression turned grim.
Gu Zhao hadn’t cheated.
Gu Xulin guessed as much from his expression and immediately moved to collect. "Looks like you lost~ Remember to transfer the money to Gu Zhao."
Then he remembered that Gu Zhao didn’t seem to have a bank card yet.
"I’ll have my manager contact you after the show. Don’t even think about skipping out on your debt."
Ye Zexi, his face dark, grabbed Ye Zuiyi and started to leave. As for the task?
He wasn’t doing it! He had already lost a million; who cared about that twenty million.
He lost! He couldn’t show his face here anymore.
Besides, the animals were clearly targeting them.
They’d never be able to finish any task involving animals.
Ye Zuiyi didn’t say a word, simply following him obediently.
Zhong Mingrui was ecstatic. He grabbed Song Yi and started jumping around. "Big King won!"
"I knew there was no challenge Big King couldn’t overcome!" Song Yi declared, his head held high with pride.
Watching the two goofballs, Song Zhe felt a headache coming on. How had his mature-for-his-age little brother turned into such a fool?
’So this is the price of my good luck,’ he thought.
Zhong Siqi, however, was used to the way Zhong Mingrui’s mind worked. Nothing he did could surprise him anymore.
He would only offer him a brother’s care.
"Alright, if you have that much energy, go clean up these insects." Zhong Siqi’s skin crawled just looking at the insects covering the ground.
Zhong Mingrui immediately looked to Gu Zhao. "Big King~"
Zhong Siqi smacked him on the butt. "Don’t creep Zhaozhao out."
Zhong Mingrui shot Zhong Siqi an accusatory glare before turning to Gu Zhao with a wronged expression.
Gu Zhao was also grossed out by the insects.
She looked at the birds...
’How am I supposed to play this off?’ she wondered.
Unexpectedly, one of the birds seemed to understand her.
"We can just eat them, big sister!" a bird chirped, flying out and starting to peck at the insects.
Soon, the insects were all gone.
Some birds didn’t get to eat any, but there were always a few overachievers.
They ate until their bellies were visibly rounder.
The zookeeper looked like he was about to cry. He tearfully stamped Gu Zhao’s card.
After finishing their meal, the birds all flew over to a trash can to do their business.
The zookeeper, once again, felt like crying.
Just then, Little Eagle, who had been out searching for cards, flew back.
It dropped five cards at once.
"Big sister~" Little Eagle chirped, landing on Gu Zhao’s shoulder.
Gu Zhao stroked its feathers as Gu Xulin picked up the cards.
But Gu Zhao wasn’t planning on doing any more tasks.
"Brother, let’s go get the food supplies and head back to eat," Gu Zhao said, stroking Little Eagle with one hand.
Gu Xulin had no objections, and neither did anyone else.
This was the easiest reality show they’d ever been on!
They were being carried the whole way!
[It’s a guaranteed win now. Ye Zexi’s team has given up, and Yu Zimo is still being chased by alpacas. It’ll be a miracle if they can complete even one task.]
[Thank you, Gu Zhao! Thanks for not letting our Qi Zai starve! I still remember the last time those two were on this show, looking like a pair of beggars.]
[Director Guo must be crying his eyes out. This isn’t an adventure show, it’s an ’Animals Raise a Human Cub’ show!]
...
Gu Zhao and her group collected the food supplies and headed back.
Meanwhile, Yu Xiaowei finally completed her task, just before Yu Zimo was completely covered in spit.
The second the task was done, Yu Zimo scrambled out of there.
The alpaca, huffing in annoyance, was still spitting.
The zookeeper looked at the alpaca’s patchy, terribly shorn fleece and stamped their card anyway. He was afraid if he didn’t, the alpaca would spit itself into severe dehydration.
The two of them made a sorry escape.
The alpacas furiously chugged two buckets of water.
Yu Zimo looked down at his spit-soaked clothes, feeling like he was about to have a breakdown.
But compared to apologizing to Gu Zhao, he figured he could endure this!
But in the next moment, they ran into Ye Zexi and his sister.
After a brief exchange, Yu Zimo’s composure shattered.
When the bedraggled group returned, they found Gu Zhao and the others sitting leisurely by their cabin door, eating fruit.
A gorilla sat beside them on a small stool, washing clothes in a wooden bucket.
Zhong Siqi was the first to notice the group in the distance trying to sneak past them back to their cabin.
Gu Zhao’s cabin was the first in the row; they had to pass it to get to their own.
Not wanting to be the one to stir up trouble, Zhong Siqi kicked Zhong Mingrui’s foot.
Zhong Mingrui looked at him, confused.
Zhong Siqi gestured with his eyes for him to look over.
Zhong Mingrui tilted his head. "Brother, what’s wrong with your eyes?"
Zhong Siqi was speechless. "You’re slouching. Sit up straight, head up, chest out, and look into the distance."
Zhong Mingrui was not pleased. He thought his brother must be going through man-opause.
But he did as he was told, and immediately spotted the group trying to sneak by in the distance.
"Hey, come on over!" Zhong Mingrui called out, waving enthusiastically.
Gu Zhao and the others looked over as well.
Ye Zexi’s group froze, inwardly cursing Zhong Mingrui for being a busybody.
When they didn’t move, Zhong Mingrui ran over to them.
Song Yi, being his good buddy, immediately followed.
Eventually, Gu Zhao and everyone else ended up going over too.
"Hey, hey, how many tasks did you guys finish?" Zhong Mingrui asked with a grin as he ran up.
The group’s faces were stormy.
"Did you take a shower?" Zhong Mingrui then noticed Yu Zimo’s clothes were practically soaked.
Yu Zimo’s expression grew even darker.
Song Yi, as one of Gu Zhao’s loyal arms, immediately chimed in with concern. "Did you guys lose? Is that why you were trying to avoid Big King?"
Ye Zexi couldn’t stand it anymore. He looked at Gu Zhao, his face cold. "We concede. I’ll transfer the money to you after the show."
With that said, the group turned to leave.
"Hey, hey~ Leaving so soon?" Gu Zhao called after them with a grin. "You didn’t forget about the apology and fulfilling one request each, did you~? You wouldn’t cheat a little kid, would you?"
Yu Zimo couldn’t take her taunting and yelled, "Who knows if you cheated!"
Song Zhe said, "Teacher Ye already verified that Gu Zhao didn’t cheat."
"Maybe you’re just good at hiding it!" Yu Zimo retorted stubbornly. He just couldn’t bring himself to apologize to that bitch, Gu Zhao!
"Apologize and do what I ask. Otherwise... I’ll have animals come and poop in front of your door every single day," Gu Zhao threatened languidly.
Yu Zimo opened his mouth to curse again, but Yu Xiaowei couldn’t stand it anymore and stopped him. Under his hateful glare, Yu Xiaowei smiled and apologized to Gu Zhao.
"Gu Zhao, I’m so sorry. Zimo has been spoiled since he was little and doesn’t know how to back down. How about this? After the show, I’ll give you five million as an apology. Would that be okay?"
Yu Zimo glared at Yu Xiaowei but said nothing.
’There’s no way I’m apologizing!’
Gu Zhao: "That’s fine, but everyone still has to fulfill my one request!"
Ye Zexi, fed up, snapped, "Fine, we’ll do it! Just say what it is!"
"My dad won’t let you get away with this!" Yu Zimo fumed.
