Chapter 716: Chapter 714: Double Happiness [Part 1]
"How did you know?" Maya Spencer asked in surprise.
"There were pictures of you at the hospital trending online, and Liam was carrying you out. That guy’s smirk was so telling, it has to be that you’re pregnant," Sophia Bennett deduced from Liam’s smile.
Just as Maya was about to respond, Liam took her phone away.
He took the call and said coldly, "Sophia, if you have anything to say, come to my house. Don’t call Maya, there’s radiation." With one sentence, Liam made everything clear.
Faced with Liam’s domineering attitude, Maya felt helpless. She reached to grab the phone back, "There’s no radiation, Liam. You’re exaggerating!"
"Little one, you need to listen to me now, no fooling around. I’m looking out for your health. From today, your phone is confiscated." Liam reprimanded Maya, his words filled with bossy affection.
Maya was on the verge of tears, "Without my phone, I’ll die of boredom."
Liam, seeing her unhappy, said, "With me around, how could you be bored, Maya?"
Maya smiled at Liam, but it was more of a forced smile.
She did not continue to fight with Liam for the phone, merely resting her small hand lightly on her belly, unable to describe how she felt inside.
After 5 years, she was finally pregnant again. Remembering the child she had lost, Maya felt full of guilt but also was more cautious.
She knew Liam was just as nervous; they both feared accidents could happen again, so he was being very careful.
Maya took a deep breath, tightly holding Liam’s large hand: "Liam, I’ll listen to you. I don’t need my phone. I won’t do anything that could affect the baby."
Liam, hearing Maya’s promise, beamed and immediately moved closer to kiss her lips.
He gently caressed her face, with a hint of remorse in his apology, "Maya, I’m sorry!"
The guilt Liam felt for the child lost five years ago was profound.
Every time he saw children, he blamed himself for the time he let Maya drink at a bar; the last two years Maya hadn’t gotten pregnant, he thought it was heaven and the child’s way of punishing him.
Now, with this child’s arrival, Liam knew he had been forgiven.
He was determined to love Maya and this child with all he had.
Liam’s apology pained Maya, and she rubbed her small face against his hand: "Liam, it’s been so long since that happened, don’t think about it anymore. Now that the baby is back, you should be happy, or the baby will think you don’t like her."
"Happy, very happy!" Liam took her small hand and kissed it at his lips.
After some cuddling, he started the car to head home.
On the way, their phones buzzed nonstop with calls inquiring about the pregnancy.
For Maya’s peace, Liam simply turned off both of their phones.
But before turning it off, he did post on social media bragging about becoming a father.
Once they returned to the apartment, Liam cooked lunch for Maya and lulled her to sleep, sitting beside her seriously reading pregnancy books, not daring to fool around with Maya anymore.
In the afternoon, Christopher Scott and Asher Norton came over, bringing a ton of supplements for Maya.
Seeing the bustling crowd, Liam immediately begged, "Folks, please keep it down, my wife is napping."
"I’m going to see Maya," Sophia couldn’t wait to rush into the bedroom, with Ella Turner following closely behind.
Ella always thought she’d be the first to get pregnant, but Maya beat her to it.
In the bedroom, as soon as Sophia and Ella entered, Maya woke up, and upon seeing them, she beamed, gently placing her small hand on her belly, feeling extremely blessed.
"Maya, congratulations! Double blessings!"
"Thank you!"
Ever since Maya found out about the pregnancy, her voice’s volume dropped a few decibels, afraid of startling the baby inside her belly.
The girls chatted inside while the men talked outside.
Hudson Moore, seeing the unstoppable good mood Liam was in, joked, "Liam, your honeymoon wasn’t cost-effective. You planned to spend a month with your wife, and in just one week, bam, she’s pregnant. I bet your bed wasn’t even warm."
Liam rolled his eyes at him indifferently, "Mind your own business, kid. You don’t have a wife and still laugh at others who do."
"..." Hudson was at a loss for words. Fine! He was once again made fun of by Liam.
After a bit of clamor, everyone dispersed, leaving room and time for Maya to rest well.
Maya’s pregnancy also put their honeymoon plans on hold.
Speaking of traveling, Liam felt quite guilty towards Maya. From dating to marriage, he hadn’t taken her out to play much; hence, he hoped to quickly get through the first trimester to take her out, preventing her from getting truly bored.
Liam initially wanted to move back to the villa, but Maya felt that with more people there, she’d be overly cared for, with all aspects managed, so she suggested staying in the apartment, with Aunt Smith coming daily to take care of her. Liam spent half his day at work and half at home, sometimes working from home, not returning to the office.
Days flew by, and soon Maya was 8 weeks pregnant, and they had been married for a month.
That day, Liam personally cooked Maya’s favorite dishes and specially ordered a cake to celebrate.
Liam fed Maya her meal and cake excitedly, kneeling in front of her afterward to listen to her belly and talk to the baby: "Little one, today’s your parents’ wedding month anniversary, consider yourself lucky."
Usually, Maya doesn’t eat very sweet foods, especially not cakes.
Seeing Liam kneeling and talking to the baby, Maya was amused, "Liam, the baby is too small to hear you!"
"Maya, you’ve worked hard." Liam grabbed Maya’s small hand and kissed it.
Through these days, Maya watched her diet, and Liam accompanied her throughout; he also refrained from eating the foods she couldn’t eat, almost as if he was pregnant with her.
Liam’s gentle nature drove Maya crazy, she bit her lower lip, pitifully swinging Liam’s big hand, and coquettishly asked, "Liam, what do I do,
"Little one," Liam immediately picked her up and carried her into the bedroom.
Lying flat on the bed, Maya gently closed her eyes, indulging in Liam’s tenderness.
To Liam’s helplessness, despite being pregnant, Maya’s belly didn’t show at all, just as before, until the fifth month when her belly slowly started to grow.
By then, Liam talked to the baby in her belly several times a day.
Mother Bennett took one look at Maya’s belly and firmly declared it’s a boy she was carrying.
