Chapter 701: Chapter 699 Because I Love You [1 more]

"Hmm! What’s the matter?" Liam leaned down and planted a kiss on her rosy little face.

Maya lifted her head, stared at Liam for a moment, blinked her big eyes, and asked, "Brother, I remember telling you I was very grateful to Brother Morris for jumping into the sea to save me. You clearly knew I misunderstood, why didn’t you explain it to me and let me continue to misunderstand?"

Maya had been pondering for days, unable to understand why Liam didn’t reveal the truth to her.

She still remembered confessing to him when her diary was found by Liam, yet he hid it from her for years; this guy, he’s really patient.

Maya furrowed her brow and tilted Maya’s chin, asking seriously, "Lillian told you."

"Yes! Before I went to London, I thanked Brother Morris, and he told me that you were the first to jump into the sea after I fell, and it was you who pulled me out from behind. The one who truly saved me was you, not him. Brother, why did you hide it from me? Don’t you feel jealous watching me hold gratitude for other men?" Maya’s expression was very earnest.

Nowadays, Maya rarely looks so serious, which shows she regards this matter as very important.

Seeing her seriousness, Liam’s lips curled into a brilliant smile, gently pulling her into his arms.

He loved Maya, loved her anger, loved her smile, and loved her serious demeanor.

Maya said somewhat aggrievedly, "Brother, you still haven’t answered me."

Listening to her grievance, Liam pinched her chin with his large hand, then lifted his head and pretended to ponder, "The reason! The reason!"

Then he turned around, staring at Maya, answered very seriously, "Because I don’t want your gratitude, I only want your love."

Indeed, Liam knew Maya had misunderstood when he discovered her diary.

He didn’t tell Maya because he didn’t want to use this matter to morally bind her, making her promise herself out of obligation, nor did he want her love to be mixed with other feelings; so, he never explained.

Maya was stunned by Liam’s explanation. She knew Liam was proud, but she didn’t expect him to be so proud; even when credited, he didn’t accept reward, willing to let the merit be carried by others.

Maya liked the man in front of her more and more. She liked his purity in relationships, was touched by the words wanting only love, and embraced him tightly with both hands, afraid he might not want her.

Liam watched the girl act spoiled with him and gently pushed her away, holding her cheeks with both hands, asked sternly, "Maya, did you come to find me in London because you were grateful I saved you, or because you liked me?"

Liam needed to ask Maya clearly, even though he had an answer in his heart, he wanted to hear it from Maya herself.

Maya looked at the man’s serious manner, stared into his eyes directly, and said seriously, "Love, I’ve been with you because of love, Brother."

Maya’s firm answer made the smile on Liam’s lips even brighter. He leaned down again and kissed Maya deeply.

Maya was touched, even though it wasn’t Liam’s first confession to her; every time he confessed, she would be moved by Liam.

Her small hands cupped the man’s handsome face, earnestly said, "Brother, I love you too, very much, very much!"

The girl’s tenderness intoxicated Liam, making him love her even more, unsure of how to express his love.

He stared directly at Maya, holding her in his large arms, and couldn’t look enough.

From the first glance, he thought Maya was stunning, breathtakingly beautiful.

Now, the more he looked at Maya, the more he liked her, the prettier she seemed.

"Because I love you!" Liam said dramatically, making Maya laugh till her cheeks hurt, snuggling into his arms.

Looking at her bright smile made Liam feel at ease.

He gently patted her back, telling her little stories, lulling her to sleep.

Liam loved Maya, unknowingly had already changed for her, and did things he’d once disdained with ease and joy.

As he watched the woman gradually fall asleep in his arms, he fantasized about a little one lying beside him, thinking how wonderful that would be.

Then he gently tapped Maya’s nose, whispered tenderly, "Little one, I’ve got to keep working hard! Still need to practice good care!"

"Mm-hmm!" Maya replied sleepily, making Liam beam with joy.

The next morning, Liam was woken by Maya’s phone ringing, and to avoid disturbing her sleep, he quickly answered the call and asked cautiously, "Dad, Maya’s still asleep. What’s up?"

The dad Liam referred to was none other than James Bennett.

Liam could never call him dad to his face because he looked too youthful, only on phone would he call James Bennett dad.

"Mm! Bring Maya home for lunch. Sophia and Christopher are coming at noon too, saying they want to discuss marriage."

"Okay, I’ll bring her if she wakes up," Liam said as he gazed at Maya’s face.

"Mm! Then you two rest."

After hanging up, Maya propped herself with her left hand, gazing at him with her eyes, her mouth smiling all the while.

Even though Maya had been sleeping beside him for two years, each time he woke up felt delightful as the first.
