Chapter 927: Chapter 663: Action Bureau Quintet

On the eve of the official inauguration of the Joint Action Bureau, Yang Xiao and several other core members held an unofficial dinner. There were no outsiders or elders from the three families, just 5 young people who met and formally got to know each other.

As a commissioner of the Joint Action Bureau, Yang Xiao was undoubtedly the main character, sitting in the seat of honor. Out of courtesy, Yang Xiao gave the seats on either side to two ladies, Chi Dan to his left and a dignified woman in a slim-fitting cheongsam to his right.

This woman, whom Yang Xiao was meeting for the first time, was named Xi Yuru. She was locally nominated by the forces of Rongcheng and now also holds a position within the Joint Action Bureau.

Seated further out were Qu Muzhi and Fu Qingzhu, both of whom were old acquaintances of Yang Xiao.

Now, all their positions were clearly defined. Yang Xiao was the leading commissioner overseeing the whole operation. The Joint Action Bureau had four main departments: Qu Muzhi as head of the Special Operations Group, Fu Qingzhu as head of the Intelligence Group, Chi Dan as head of the Logistics Support Group, and Xi Yuru as head of the Liaison Group. The divisions were clear, and each was more or less in their area of expertise.

"Brother Yang Xiao, I will need your guidance and care in the future!" Chi Dan, with suggestive eyes and wearing a business suit revealing a bit of playfulness, was very eye-catching.

"Group Leader Chi, remember to address official positions as today is a formal occasion," Xi Yuru corrected with a smile, substituting wine with tea and slowly raising her glass to Yang Xiao. "I have long heard of Commissioner Yang’s achievements and formidable strength, not inferior even in front of elders. Our seniors at home never stop praising you. To meet you in person today, you indeed look even more handsome than expected."

"Chairman Xi flatters me," Yang Xiao responded with a faint smile, perfectly balancing his emotions, refined and dignified, naturally commanding respect without anger.

"Ms. Xi is really good with words. Indeed, the older one gets, the more experienced they are. Ms. Chi, are you this likable outside as well?" Chi Dan, admiringly looking at Xi Yuru, cooed, "Sister, you’re so amazing!"

"Chi is joking. Sister doesn’t like going out much, unlike you who, relying on a carefree character, likes to make a fuss outside," Xi Yuru retorted effortlessly. She had seen many like this young girl before and didn’t take her seriously at all.

"No wonder Sister keeps herself so well-preserved. If I didn’t know a bit about makeup myself, I wouldn’t have been able to guess you’re well into your thirties," Chi Dan said with a giggle, completely ignoring the threat in Xi Yuru’s eyes.

"Being older means knowing how to care for people, not speaking out of turn, knowing the rules and not annoying others," Xi Yuru quietly stretched her body, showcasing her impressive figure.

Age is always a sensitive issue for women, and being persistently attacked on this sore spot even makes a seasoned player like Xi Yuru somewhat flustered.

Seeing the situation may collapse, Yang Xiao remained calm as if sitting on a fishing platform, saying nothing. Fu Qingzhu sighed inwardly and had to step in to warm up the atmosphere with a few polite words, finally stabilizing these two volatile figures.

As for Qu Muzhi, he was not to be relied upon; he quietly ate, as if an outsider. Fu Qingzhu severely doubted that even if the two women started fighting right there, Qu Muzhi would just pick up his plate, find another spot, and continue eating.

Yang Xiao had anticipated disagreements among the four group leaders, each representing different forces; he was pleased to see this because if the four banded together, he would be marginalized as a commissioner.

This has nothing to do with their personal relations; it’s purely political struggle.

Perhaps sensing Yang Xiao’s displeasure, Chi Dan and Xi Yuru toned down their aggression. Yang Xiao didn’t blame anyone but proceeded in a business-like manner to outline some regulations, protocols, and responsibilities of the Joint Action Bureau to everyone—this being his job.

The banquet did not last long; Qu Muzhi first stood up to take his leave, followed by Fu Qingzhu who deftly took his leave, giving Yang Xiao a concerned look before departing.

Now only Yang Xiao and two others were left in the private room. Anticipating further development tonight, midway through, Xi Yuru made an excuse to go to the restroom to retouch her makeup.

Timing her return from the restroom, Chi Dan quickly got up and walked a few steps forward, straddling and sitting directly on Yang Xiao’s lap, wrapping her arms around his neck—a bold move that even startled Yang Xiao.

"What are you doing? Get off!" Yang Xiao frowned and said in a low voice.

Chi Dan wriggled her body, her eyes sultry, "Don’t be like that. Last time you left without a word, leaving me alone. Do you know how much I missed you that night? You have to make it up to me." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

"There’s someone in the restroom!" Yang Xiao tried to push Chi Dan away, but she clung tightly around his neck, pressed her chest against him, and wrapped her limbs around him like an octopus.

"It’s okay, that old woman is still doing her makeup; she won’t come out so quickly." Chi Dan, holding Yang Xiao’s face, kissed him fiercely, her cheeks blushing, "No one will come for a while, isn’t it more thrilling this way?"

Yang Xiao avoided Chi Dan’s devouring gaze, knowing there was something wrong with those eyes. Just as he was about to throw her off, the last thing he wanted to happen occurred—the restroom door opened, and Xi Yuru, having redone her makeup prepared for a showdown with Chi Dan, was stunned on the spot.

"Ah!" Chi Dan quickly jumped off Yang Xiao’s legs, her hands and feet scrambling to tidy her not-so-disheveled clothes, speaking hurriedly, "I’m sorry, Ms. Xi, we... we thought you had left."
