Chapter 245: Chapter 207: You Know Too Much

Yang Xiao: "???"

Fu Qingzhu immediately explained, "Brother Yang, you’ve misunderstood. This candle contains a special emergency chemical. It’s a kind of emergency measure, similar to something you’d have at the Patrol Defense Bureau."

Beibei brought the candle closer to smell it and then nodded at Yang Xiao, acknowledging what Fu Qingzhu had said. But for safety reasons, Beibei stripped Fu Qingzhu to the waist, tied him to the chair, and then left, leaving Yang Xiao alone to question him.

"Brother Yang, surely it doesn’t have to come to this between us," Fu Qingzhu said with a bitter smile, the ropes tied by Beibei digging into his flesh.

Yang Xiao casually picked up an electric shock device. When he switched it on, a blue arc lit up at the front, crackling with noise. This was no ordinary electric shock device, but a modified one.

Yang Xiao toyed with the electric shock device, his face cold and indifferent, "Spill it. What exactly did you take from Sun Buhuan?"

The next second, Fu Qingzhu’s face turned pale as he stared at Yang Xiao in horror, as if judging the truth of his words, "Did they send you?"

Yang was also taken aback. He was only trying to scare the kid, certain that Fu Qingzhu must have scored quite a haul from Sun Buhuan; otherwise, there was no need to silence him with murder.

Today, Yang’s purpose was twofold: first, to put Fu Qingzhu in his place as a lesson for trying to outsmart him, and second, naturally, to claim some benefits for himself. Money, photos of ghosts, or deeds to properties—Yang Xiao was open to any compensation.

But judging by Fu Qingzhu’s reaction, he was clearly hiding something.

Yang Xiao kept his composure, his eyes full of sympathy as he looked at Fu Qingzhu, "Brother Fu, don’t blame me. I had no choice. You know what you did."

Fu Qingzhu stared into Yang Xiao’s eyes then, after a moment, seemed to let out a sigh of relief and laughed, "Stop bluffing me. I bet you don’t know anything."

Fu Qingzhu was a sly one, and Yang Xiao knew it would be tough to deceive him. So he laid his cards on the table: "Brother Fu, we’re like brothers. I don’t want things to get ugly. I just want to know what benefits you got from Sun Buhuan that made it worth the risk to silence him."

Fu Qingzhu shook his head, his tone more sincere than ever before, "Yang Xiao, I honestly consider you a friend. Take my advice, and don’t ask any further. Knowing too much won’t be good for you."

"What if I insist on knowing?" Yang Xiao picked up the electric shock device again.

"Then give it a try. If I even make a sound, I’m no hero," Fu Qingzhu retorted, still tied up but not the least bit diminished in presence.

Truth be told, Yang was confident he could make Fu Qingzhu talk under extreme duress, but he didn’t want to. After all, they had a decent relationship, and Fu Qingzhu had saved his life which Yang had not forgotten. Eventually, he put down the electric shock device and walked out.

A moment later, Beibei walked in alone. Upon seeing this, Fu Qingzhu couldn’t help but laugh, "What, switching to a honey trap now?"

Beibei looked at him with a pitiful gaze. Fu Qingzhu suddenly felt a bit panicky, and sure enough, Beibei just tidied up the things on the table and then left. A moment later, a burly man built like a bear walked in.

As soon as Da Xiong entered, he said nothing, just closed the door behind him, dimmed the lights, and began to undress.

Fu Qingzhu was dumbstruck. His face turned deathly pale, and after a few moments, he began shaking the chair violently, shouting at the top of his lungs, "No, no, don’t do this!!"

"I’ll be gentle, don’t be scared," Da Xiong said in a very magnetic voice.

"Yang Xiao! I’ll talk, I’ll tell everything!!" Fu Qingzhu caved in, screaming hysterically, "Quick, get him out of here!!"

Finally, Da Xiong stopped. The door was pushed open from the outside, Yang Xiao and Beibei entered, and Da Xiong hurriedly got dressed—he didn’t fancy this situation; it was all part of the plan.

"Yang Xiao, not telling you was for your own good, I didn’t want to harm you," panted Fu Qingzhu, still not recovered from his panic.

"I don’t need it, I just want to know the truth," Yang Xiao sat opposite him.

Fu Qingzhu gave Yang Xiao a meaningful look, and Yang Xiao motioned for Beibei and Da Xiong to leave first, then he shut the door, "So, now you can talk, right?"

"You’re right, I indeed had no intention of killing Sun Buhuan at first. We are all business people, no need for life-threatening games. I just wanted to threaten him for some compensation, to keep him from coming after me in the future, but... but I never expected that during the interrogation, this guy revealed a secret to me," said Fu Qingzhu with a fierce look and obvious annoyance, "I had no choice but to kill him then, otherwise if this got out, I would be the one to die."

"Go on," said Yang Xiao, perhaps due to professional curiosity, always drawn to secrets.

"Sun Buhuan found out that there have been quite a few mysterious disappearances of Resentful Eyes in Rongcheng over the past few years. He was secretly investigating this matter and had recently gotten a lead on it."

"After he compiled all the data, he discovered something very strange. No matter what he found, the trail went cold in the same place."

"Where?" Yang Xiao pressed.

Fu Qingzhu looked at him, lowering his voice, "Your Patrol Defense Bureau."

A jolt went through Yang Xiao’s heart; almost instinctively, he recalled the corridor from a few nights ago and the bizarre doors on both sides.

"Nonsense!" Yang Xiao straightened his expression and immediately retorted, "He’s slandering us. Does he have any evidence?"

Fu Qingzhu shook his head, "I don’t know. I didn’t dare ask. If what he said was true, then whoever could pull this off without leaving traces must hold a not insignificant position in the Patrol Defense Bureau. It could only be one of a few people. You could count them on your fingers, and none of them is someone a little guy like me can afford to mess with. If the news leaked, I’m sure I’d be silenced."

"So, for my own protection, I had no choice but to slaughter Sun Buhuan and his men. Fearing any evidence might be left behind, I made a special trip to his country villa and set it ablaze; now, even if there were evidence, it’s all burned to ashes," said Fu Qingzhu.

After a moment of silence, Yang Xiao spoke again, "What kinds of Resentful Eyes were lost?"

"According to what Sun Buhuan confessed, they were high-risk Resentful Eyes with very low stability. He suspected that a significant number of them might even come from Evil Cultivators." freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"So, you’re saying they were all extremely dangerous Resentful Eyes, and very powerful?"

The next second, Fu Qingzhu suddenly laughed, revealing an inscrutable smile, "Right, those from Evil Cultivators are certainly powerful, not unlike the one you have."

"You know too much," Yang Xiao slowly stood up, looking down at Fu Qingzhu, not drawing his gun but slowly pulling out his dagger from his waist.

"Huh——" Fu Qingzhu closed his eyes slowly, as if he understood his fate.

Yang Xiao stepped forward, coming behind Fu Qingzhu, and cut through the rope binding him, "You didn’t rat me out in front of the Qi family. I’ll pretend I didn’t hear anything today."
