Chapter 1980: Chapter 1120: Research Facility

"She didn’t dare get off the train, is she looking to die?" This outcome had also caught Takagi Reina off guard, and more importantly, they’d just lost a perfect Substitute Death for tonight. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Tonight was pretty much the last night. Leaving aside whether Chief Morita and the others would let her go after she bailed, even if she survived, how was she supposed to leave this world?

You had to understand, the key to this mission lay in Youjian Mountain Station—more precisely, in the underground prison beneath Youjian Mountain Station.

Which meant that once the radio was successfully shut off, the exit out of here would only appear somewhere near the underground prison.

And with Yandeta Chiyoda not here, even if they pulled it off, she wouldn’t be able to reach the exit and leave.

Yang Xiao couldn’t figure out what on earth Yandeta Chiyoda was thinking—was she dead set on not living?

To verify his guess, Yang Xiao waited a bit longer. Not until another train came rumbling out of the depths of the tunnel did they finally leave, because the Ghost passengers in the car were already getting restless.

Now Yandeta Chiyoda no longer had any chance to get off.

"What a damn talent, that old hag is ruthless." Takagi Reina swore at the train, then turned and ran. The three of them vanished into the fog in no time.

And just as the three of them had judged, Yandeta Chiyoda was still on the train; she hadn’t left.

After the train got rear-ended and switched back onto a normal train, before this train had even left the Youjian Mountain Tunnel, Yandeta Chiyoda quickly set her plan in motion.

With a small hand gesture from her, the woman sitting not far in front of her—long hair over her shoulders, mask on, glancing her way from time to time—got up quickly, walked over, and sat down beside her.

The two said nothing unnecessary and started changing clothes at once. Yandeta Chiyoda gave a light tug and tore off her dyed, permed hair.

She’d come fully prepared; she’d secretly cut off her long hair ahead of time, and because she kept it pressed under a hat, Yang Xiao and the others hadn’t noticed a thing.

She unzipped the backpack she carried—inside was a wig and some small items for changing her appearance; the two bulging, hemispherical pads were the real centerpiece.

This woman was a female detective Yandeta Chiyoda had secretly contacted. She hadn’t dared use her own phone, worried that mysterious group would pick up on it, so she’d stolen a phone off the street.

She spun a very convincing story, telling the female detective that she was being tailed and hoping the detective could impersonate her and help drag out the pervert following her.

Of course, she’d offered this rookie female detective a payment that couldn’t be refused and had already wired a hefty advance.

The detective had no idea that the "advance" Yandeta Chiyoda paid was practically all the money she had left.

She’d never planned on paying the balance.

Since it was a night train, there were hardly any passengers. In this car, aside from the two of them, there was only a middle-aged man sitting with his back to them, head lowered, nodding off.

They moved fast. By the time the train left the tunnel and was approaching Shirahata Station, the disguise was complete. Yandeta Chiyoda sat in the other woman’s previous seat, head lowered, mask on, handbag in hand. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

And in the seat where Yandeta Chiyoda had been sitting before, another "her" now sat in her place.

The spot Yandeta Chiyoda had chosen when she boarded was carefully selected: a seat closer to the window, so that whoever was posted at the station to watch her could clearly see that she was still there.

She’d also calculated that since this train passed through Youjian Mountain Station, those people definitely wouldn’t dare get on and shadow her up close.

One, they’d be afraid of the danger; and two... they’d be worried about messing up their plan for tonight.

As the train slowly pulled into Shirahata Station, the freshly made-over Yandeta Chiyoda stepped off with a brisk, athletic stride. The high-heeled leather boots on her feet didn’t look the slightest bit out of place.

With a keen eye, Yandeta Chiyoda spotted two men smoking in Shirahata Station. They hid in the dark, staring fixedly in the direction of the train.

They didn’t notice Yandeta Chiyoda at all as she walked past just a short distance in front of them.

Which made sense. At this point Yandeta Chiyoda had completely changed her appearance—height, build, hair, outfit... everything was different. Especially in the dead of night, unless someone was tailing her right on her heels, it would be very easy to miss her.

Yandeta Chiyoda laughed to herself. Morioka and his lot still underestimated her; they’d actually sent such unprofessional people to tail her.

You had to remember, she wasn’t just some ordinary person. She’d undergone strict training, came from a great family with a prestigious background, and was a rather capable Angel Envoy.

Soon, as the train behind her pulled out of the station, Yandeta Chiyoda left the grounds of Shirahata Station as well, slipping completely out of that group’s line of sight.

But it wasn’t over yet. Her plan had only just reached halfway. Once she exited the station, she flagged down a taxi by the roadside and headed straight toward Youjian Mountain.

Yandeta Chiyoda’s plan was to first return to the vicinity of Youjian Mountain and find a way into the Youjian Mountain Tunnel. That way, as long as Yang Xiao and the others succeeded, once the paranormal incident was resolved, the so-called Youjian Mountain Station would return to reality.

She could enter Youjian Mountain Station from the real world and thus find the exit to leave.

Frankly speaking, this plan was rather risky, with no great odds of success, but she had no choice—this might be her only chance.

Given the relationship she had with Chu Xi, Takagi Reina, and Xiao Lin Zhengyan, if she’d dared get off the train and follow the three of them into Youjian Mountain Station, she’d be as good as dead.
