Chapter 1783: Chapter 1022: Splitting Up (Part 2)
"Heize understands!" Heize Lin was completely captivated by Qingshui Cangjie’s ability.
Qingshui Cangjie slowly raised his head, looking obliquely upwards towards the ceiling. His deep gaze seemed to penetrate the ceiling, seeing into the distance. After a while, he slowly spoke, "If possible, try to send Yang Xiao’s team in tonight. That person gives me an uneasy feeling. If given enough time, I’m afraid he might also figure out how the ghost kills."
Information only counts as intelligence when it’s held in one’s own hands. If leaked, it becomes worthless. Qingshui Cangjie was fully aware of what this intelligence meant.
They were the first to figure out how the ghost kills, which also meant they could avoid the ghost’s attack within the seven-day limit.
Even more terrifying, they could discreetly influence the lives of others through some underhand operations, eliminating those who pose a threat to them without anyone knowing.
"There’s one more thing you need to pay attention to. Mitsuo Takeda also left us clues, but he didn’t mention that the one who killed him was a female ghost. Isn’t that strange?" Qingshui Cangjie said.
Heize Lin pondered, "You mean Mitsuo Takeda didn’t see this female ghost; the attacked person can’t see this ghost, only bystanders can, like Tong Han?"
"Yes, I think that’s the case. There may be a hidden reason behind it." Qingshui Cangjie slowly exhaled, still with many things he couldn’t understand, but undoubtedly, he was far ahead of the other teammates in terms of task progress.
The next morning, everyone gathered in the hotel lobby as usual. When Yang Xiao’s team came downstairs, the hotel door was already open. Outside, besides their previous car, there was now an additional off-road vehicle.
"This was requested by Mr. Qingshui from those people," Heize Lin explained beside them.
The plan was set last night, after some simple discussion, they split into two teams. Qingshui Cangjie and Yang Xiao were one team; they would go to Xijin City to inquire about Asakura Yodou’s former neighbors.
The other team was Heize Lin and Beiyu Ye. They headed back to Chao Wei Village to look for clues. Beiyu Ye remained fixated on the mountain behind Asakura Yodou’s old house. If conditions allowed, he planned to explore it.
Two phones, each team took one, held by Qingshui Cangjie and Heize Lin respectively, for immediate communication if needed. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
No other unnecessary words were exchanged; the teams set off in their vehicles. Led by Jiu Shan Sha Yue, four people remained at the hotel. Among them were two new players; the remaining Nishimura Yuna’s experience wasn’t vast either, having only cleared a nightmare task once before.
"Miss Xin Yuan, do you think they can find crucial clues today?" Nishimura Yuna worriedly asked, watching the cars vanish at the crossroads.
"You better hope they find the clues, or..." Jiu Shan Sha Yue didn’t finish her sentence, as there were newcomers present, their pressure already quite overwhelming.
But in reality, Jiu Shan Sha Yue wasn’t too worried about her own safety. She had already figured out the ghost’s killing method; just after Tong Han Yabuki Nao’s accident last night, she understood the root of the problem.
Originally planning to inform the remaining two teammates at the morning meeting, but as their eyes met, she quickly realized that Beiyu Ye and Yang Xiao also figured out the clues, confirming the female ghost’s killing method.
Judging by the stable aura from Qingshui Cangjie and Heize Lin this morning, it seemed these two also figured it out, hence their unshakable confidence.
The clues Tong Han brought back last night helped them tremendously, significantly advancing the task, unlocking their previously stagnant thoughts and pushing them leaps and bounds forward.
Tong Han’s performance impressed Jiu Shan Sha Yue, who grew to admire this foreign woman, a reliable companion.
Though this reliability was more for Yang Xiao, rather than her and Beiyu Ye, it was nonetheless admirable. Although not a Samurai, she had a Samurai’s heart; her decisiveness and courage were praiseworthy.
This made her reminisce about her closest friend, Xingzi.
Xingzi was also such a person, resilient and determined, dependable no matter the circumstances. Her personality was very much like Tong Han’s. Sadly, Xingzi perished at the hands of those shadowy Kah Party ninjas, never able to return to her side.
When she returned, she planned to appoint Tong Han as her Sword and Sword Servant, a position left vacant after Xingzi’s death, with no suitable candidates since.
Of course, she would have to seek Yang Xiao’s and Tong Han’s consent, and also the approval of those stubborn elders in the family. Though they tended to accommodate her in most matters, they were unyielding on principle issues. Keeping a foreigner nearby might just send those old folks into a frenzy.
On the other side, originally Yang Xiao and Qingshui Cangjie were supposed to take turns driving, but after witnessing Yang Xiao’s driving skills, Qingshui Cangjie changed his mind; for his safety, he took over the remaining journey.
The reason was simple and direct; he could accept being killed by a ghost but couldn’t accept dying in a Nightmare World’s car accident.
The kind of manmade car accident; it was too foolish, utterly degrading his reputation.
"Mr. Qingshui, I can drive slower so you won’t get too tired alone," Yang Xiao said apologetically; he wasn’t the type to freeload.
Qingshui Cangjie held the steering wheel without looking at Yang Xiao, "No need, just rest, I’ll let you know when we arrive."
Since that was the case, Yang Xiao didn’t hold back. He was indeed exhausted from last night; he leaned his head over, soon curling up in the passenger seat and falling asleep.
Listening to Yang Xiao’s content snores, Qingshui Cangjie, driving, took a deep breath, veins popping on his forehead. He decided to send this kid on his way tonight.
After some time, Yang Xiao was woken by someone, groggily getting off the car, realizing they had arrived in an unfamiliar city. Qingshui Cangjie told him it was Xijin City; they had arrived.
The parking spot was beside a street. Following the address on the envelope, they found a household. Behind the courtyard gate, they saw an elderly man tending to the flowers in the yard.
Yang Xiao pressed the doorbell. The man came to the door upon hearing the sound, opening it but looking somewhat puzzled at Yang Xiao and Qingshui Cangjie outside, "Who are you looking for?"
"Are you Mr. Lin Tian Jianci?" Yang Xiao asked.
"That’s me, and you are...?"
"We’re friends of Principal Suzuki, would like to chat with you about some matters, mind letting us in?" Qingshui Cangjie asked.
Upon hearing Principal Suzuki’s name, the man suddenly fell silent, the look he gave Yang Xiao and Qingshui Cangjie seemed peculiar, as though he instantly understood their purpose.
But the man eventually didn’t refuse, letting them in. Once inside, they immediately saw two black and white photos on the wall; one was of a young girl, around 6 or 7 years old, with lively eyes, wearing a floral dress, looking very cute.
The other was of a woman with facial features somewhat similar to the girl, clearly the girl’s mother.
From the information previously gathered from Principal Suzuki, Lin Tian Jianci’s only daughter died in the Ghost Dream Curse. He later moved away from Chao Wei Village with his wife, fleeing this place of sorrow, never returning.
The girl was evidently Lin Tian Jianci’s daughter, and the woman was his wife.
They hadn’t expected, after more than ten years, that Lin Tian Jianci’s wife had also passed away, leaving him alone.
After seating themselves, Lin Tian Jianci slowly exhaled and looked at the two with more determination, "You came for that, didn’t you? Asakura Yodou is killing again, right?"
