Chapter 206: Mate for a day

Luke didn’t return to his house right away. Instead, he stopped by Nadia’s place to take a bath first.

Knock

When he knocked on the door, he half expected Dart to answer since it was already close to afternoon. However, the moment the door opened, he was greeted by a beautiful sight.

"Luke..." Nadia breathed, her eyes widening as she found him standing stiffly at the entrance.

"Sorry to disturb you, but can I use the bath?" he asked. He was genuinely embarrassed about coming here so often just to use theirs.

That reminded him, the construction of his own bath was supposed to begin today. And because of that, he would need to move his potion workshop somewhere else. Dang, he was running out of space.

"Yes, of course," Nadia replied, stepping aside to let him in.

She could tell he was returning from a hunt. The strong scent of blood clinging to him made that much obvious. His hair looked sticky, and his clothes were stained red. Patches of grime could be seen here and there as well, clear signs of a productive day at work.

"Must be disgusting, so I’ll go clean myself up right away." Luke noticed her gaze and, because of that, didn’t linger for small talk.

He headed toward the bathroom, only for Nadia to call out, "Can I help? You won’t be able to clean your hair properly by yourself."

Luke paused at the doorway and turned to look at her.

A faint smile appeared on his face as he asked, "Asking you to take care of me in this state feels a little wrong. Are you sure you want to do this?"

Nadia nodded without hesitation. "You can leave it to me."

With that, the two entered the bathing area together.

Luke slowly pulled at the vest stuck to his upper body. The fabric clung so tightly to his skin that it felt as though he was about to get waxed.

"Let me help," Nadia said when she noticed his struggle.

Luke nodded and left the task to her.

Taking hold of the front of his shirt, Nadia carefully peeled the fabric away from his skin, working slowly to avoid hurting him. She splashed some water over it as well, making the process easier.

Looking at the blood and grime covering him, she asked, "Was there another large beast lurking around the village?"

Under the sun, hunters rarely found major prey so close to the village. And considering Luke was one of the strongest, if not the strongest, hunters around, the fact that he had returned drenched in blood meant his opponent had been anything but ordinary.

"You could say I went a little too deep looking for something challenging."

Those wolves might have only been level one, but each of them was strong enough to give warriors like Dart a serious fight.

There was something unusual about them. They were far more ferocious and cunning than the beasts found around the village. Perhaps the environment of that world was simply that harsh.

Regardless, Luke had come back with an excellent haul, and he was certain his stats had increased by a few points as well.

"So it’s true, huh?" Nadia said as she continued cleaning him. "That you’ll be moving away soon?"

Luke raised a brow.

"I think this is the third time I’ve heard that. What’s with everyone assuming I’ll leave the village?"

Nadia shrugged.

"It’s a pretty common assumption. When hunters stop finding worthy challenges in a place, they usually move on."

Luke hummed in acknowledgment.

"True... but I haven’t decided anything yet."

He would first need to see more of the world, starting with Roxanne’s hometown, before deciding whether greater opportunities truly existed beyond the village.

"Then... does that mean we won’t be seeing each other in the future?" Nadia asked, lifting her eyes toward him.

Luke shrugged.

"I mean, if I leave after getting you pregnant, do we really need to meet after that?"

Nadia lowered her gaze and chose not to respond.

She continued helping him clean up.

Taking a large ladle of water and a scrub, she slowly poured water over him and began washing away the dried blood and grime clinging to his skin.

The process was slow and careful.

Luke enjoyed the gentle attention, a faint smile lingering on his face. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"You can sit down if you want," Nadia offered. "This is going to take a while."

Luke let out a sigh.

"I’ll gladly accept that offer."

After spending so much time moving around inside the dungeon, he was genuinely exhausted.

First he removed his pants, leaving him completely naked, and then sat down on the wooden stool while Nadia crouched behind him. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

She poured water over his back and carefully scrubbed away the remaining stains.

Resting his hands on his knees, Luke muttered, "You know... you’re a lot like my mate, Nadia. Gentle, caring, and a good cook. Maybe that’s why I like you so much."

Nadia’s hands paused for a moment before she asked, "By mate... you mean Monica?"

"Yeah." Luke smiled. "Isn’t she wonderful?"

Nadia still struggled to understand the dynamics of their relationship, but that didn’t stop her from agreeing.

"You’re right. I’m lucky she became my first friend in this village. She made me feel like I wasn’t being disliked by everyone."

Luke grinned.

"Told you. You overthink things too much. You need to get out and meet people before deciding where you stand with them. Trust me, people would love the way you talk to them."

Nadia fell silent again, clutching the scrub in her hand.

"Aren’t you complimenting me a lot today?" she asked quietly.

Luke chuckled.

"Just pretend I’m your mate for today and accept the compliments."

Nadia pursed her lips and slowly moved a little toward the front.

Luke hummed in surprise as she suddenly poured water over his crotch and took a fabric this time to clean his manhood.

Her cheeks were flushed, some water has splashed over her, making her thin dress appear utterly erotic. With a few strands of her violet hair curtaining her eyes, she looked absolutely breathtaking.

And adding more fuel to the first, she said in a quiet voice,

"Then...let me treat you like my mate for today, as well."

His little brother gave an involuntary flinch at the words.

Looking at the woman before him, could there be a man who could resist the beauty?

Without a word, Luke slid his finger under her chin and made her look up.

Despite being shy, she matched his gaze before she heard him say, "Do you want to be loved like my mate...despite having Dart in your life?"

She averted her gaze, "You started it...I am just responding to you."

Luke grinned and pinched her chin, "Are you sure you just don’t want to see how it feels to be my mate?"

Nadia shuddered as he pressed forward.

Her back hit the wall as he pressed both his hands on either side of her head.

In the small corner, all she could see was him and those dark eyes.

In a low voice, Luke said, "Don’t blame me, if you develop feelings for me after this." As those words faded, a moan escaped her throat as his lips assaulted hers.
