Chapter 356 (2): Captive Queen
Stockings didn’t exist in the inner world. The pair that Queen Sophelia was wearing was naturally provided by Wayne. He had said that they should just charge into the Great Cemetery and kill their enemies, but before they set out, he still asked about the Death Knight’s party.
Relying on brute force was one thing. They should still prepare a strategy targeting the enemies.
Sophelia provided intel on her daughter, Juno. The unfilial daughter wanted her and always scanned her peaks and valleys with lecherous eyes.
In fact, Sophelia’s own words were so scandalous that if her quotes were compiled into a book, it would become the best-selling prohibited book. While she spoke, she even stared at Wayne with seductive eyes, like the Queen was ready to take on a new gig.
Exasperated, Wayne prepared a honeytrap for Juno, lowering the intelligence of the Death Knight’s external brain first thing.
It was a critical hit. Juno succumbed to her mother’s charm and even started drooling.
Behind the Queen, Wayne also showed reactions. When a breeze lifted the hem of her slit dress, he saw everything he should and should not be privy to.
“Hehe...” x2
“Hmph!” the Holy Maiden of Darkness scoffed.
It was out of nothing but disgust. According to Wayne, the Queen was Auston’s lover in the surface world, and Wayne was Auston’s son. The depraved nobles were horrendous.
Wayne immediately put on the righteous face of a gentleman and silently defended himself. He had been stocking up on his essence and thus felt a little repressed. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have even peeked at someone like the Queen even if it was for free.
Wayne and Anastasia were the robed figures accompanying Sophelia, while Megan and William stayed hidden in a different location. William, as the Sun Knight and one of the main forces of this battle, would bring the Death Knight quite the shock.
While the Darkness Knight and the Sun Knight were fighting the Death Knight in a two-on-one fight, the Moonlight Knight would appear. The series of shocking twists would surely break his will and lead to a complete victory.
Filomina wasn’t strong enough, so she was in charge of surveillance on the fringe, in case new enemies emerged.
The one they were wary of was Senna, the last chosen knight. Though the chance of her appearing was slim, what if she showed up and took the Death Knight’s side? It was better safe than sorry, so they sent someone as a scout.
Wayne had formulated the strategy out of respect for ‘himself’. Everyone, including Auston, believed that Wayne was going overboard. Victory was more or less secure with the Darkness Knight, Sun Knight, and Moonlight Knight fighting the Death Knight. Was there really a need for such caution?
Wayne explained that one’s worst enemy was always oneself, so they could never be too careful.
The sound logic convinced everyone.
William was a little confused by how intelligent the Wayne of the surface world was. The Death Knight Wayne of the inner world couldn’t even compare.
Wayne’s explanation was simple: two years ago, he was an immature young man with no experience and low IQ and EQ. He would shake even when he was just talking to girls. It was thanks to the training from his relationships that he became the smart man he was now.
Love is war. The veteran lover had become a mature, wise war veteran.
Because of his many girlfriends, the words were convincing coming out of his mouth. William immediately believed him.
Anastasia’s huff had woken Wayne and Juno. Juno wiped her drool from the corners of her mouth, telling herself that it wasn’t time to salivate yet. Calm down, and she could salivate all she wanted in the aftermath of her victory.
She got excited at the thought of having a captive queen.
Where did the hungry pervert come from? Isn’t this Juno too much of a sicko?
Wayne had no words to describe her. He gestured at Anastasia to tell her that he would take on Alistair, leaving Juno to the Queen. Anastasia would be charged with providing an additional threat.
Juno glanced at Wayne and Anastasia. The black robes concealed their faces, so she only saw a Gold-ranked mage and a magitech puppet with trapped thoughts. They were nothing to worry about.
Juno gestured at Alistair to make quick work of the Gold-ranked mage. They had to capture Sophelia tonight. She was at the end of her patience.
Two flashes of white light clashed. After Sophelia’s honeytrap did its work, she transformed into her eerie angel form and clashed with Juno.
Their afterimages flickered in and out with Holy Light rippling and expanding, triggering powerful gusts. The bright light stood out particularly in a space permeated with darkness and Death energy.
Wayne didn’t watch them fight. He looked at Alistair's strange form and couldn’t help but want to study the Cthulhuesque angel. Once he returned to the surface world, he had to find a way to put Alistair in his laboratory.
With his mind made up, Wayne held his incomplete Philosopher’s Stone and growled. Waves of black energy rippled from his body. He transformed into a black-winged demon with long, slim limbs, wielding a black greatsword. His sinister, hellish energy grated on Alistair's nerves. Even though this was the inner world, even though she had come to resemble a demon under the torment of negativity, her angel bloodline still gave her an aversion for demons.
“Incomplete Philosopher’s Stone? Where did the Darkness Knight find his ally? Given your ability, you shouldn’t have been unknown.” Alistair charged at Wayne with her lance of Holy Light, flapping her wings.
Warm light condensed at the tip of her lance. She moved as quickly as a streak of lightning.
Wayne wordlessly raised his sword and blocked the attack with ease. The powerful counterforce sent Alistair tumbling across the sky.
She became even more surprised. It had been close to two years since the inception of the inner world. After the chaotic fights that followed, the power ranking and the factions had more or less been decided. There were only so many strong individuals, and they all revolved around the chosen knights.
She had never met someone like this man, however. Had he only experienced a power spike recently after picking up a half-complete Philosopher’s Stone?
That was the only possible explanation.
The possibility that he could be a visitor from the surface world was so absurd that Alistair had never considered it. Wielding her lance, she brought about a dense rain of Holy Light, trapping Wayne in place.
Got you!
The Philosopher’s Stone is flawed, and his demonic form is mostly a physical enhancement. He has far less energy than I do.
While she thought so, she sensed Anastasia moving with her thoughts. She immediately pulled back and went into a defensive stance.
Whoosh!
The black figure was suddenly by Alistair’s side like he had teleported. Looking out for an attack from Anastasia, Alistair was caught off guard. It was too late for her to react when she noticed the incoming malice.
The black-winged demon cackled, his black greatsword swinging down like a streak of light. Once it clashed with the lance of Holy Light that Alistair had raised in defense, it forced its way down with even more terrifying power, slamming her into the ground below. Black light and Death energy rippled away at impact, and the ground rumbled amid the rising dust.
Alistair flew back into the sky while flapping her wings. She saw another flash of black light. This time, she was fully prepared. She held her lance above her head with both hands.
Swoosh!
Black light poured down, dividing everything it passed through in half, including Alistair’s lance and her vision.
In her eyes, a line of bursting blood had divided the black-winged demon’s body in half. The left half slid upward, while the right half slid downward. Blood imbued with chilling energy splattered into her eyes.
Did I win?
Alistair didn’t understand how her defense had managed to kill her enemy at once. She felt a sting in her thoughts, and an overwhelming exhaustion overtook her.
The next second, she realized that the demon wasn’t the only one that had been bisected, so were the distant sky and earth shrouded by Darkness.
“So that’s what happened...”
A crimson line stretched from Alistair’s head to her lower body. Her eyes dimmed and greyed until darkness filled the entire world in her eyes. The two parts of her body plummeted from the sky while her wings continued to flap. The vitality demonstrated was incredible.
“Alistair—”
Juno growled furiously from afar. Unfazed, Wayne raised his greatsword high and swung down.
Thick black energy poured out of the blade. The chains of the Divine Comedy of the Seven Deadly Sins enveloped Alistair as a light pillar of a hundred-meter-diameter pierced through land, erasing her body and thoughts.
Incoming white light heralded an incoming spear. Wayne turned around and parried the attack unhurriedly. Juno’s avian angel had four hands and wielded two spears. His greatsword couldn’t block two blades at once, so one spear blazing with sacred flames ended up penetrating his chest.
Flapping her wings, Juno pushed the spear further, eyes red. Under the weight of tremendous holy intent, Wayne coughed and broke out of his demonic state.
Hatred drove Juno to push both spears through his chest and pour all of her Holy Light into him, attempting to render the murderer of her betrothed to ashes.
Sophelia hovered in the air, approaching her while beating her wings. Anastasia didn’t come to Wayne’s aid. Their cold companionship was on full display, convincing Juno of her victory.
She would kill this mysterious man before capturing Sophelia alive, humiliating her three times a day to honor Alistair. Since she had become a widow, she shouldn’t act like one, or Alistair wouldn’t be able to rest in peace.
Juno’s lack of information led to her misinterpreting Sophelia’s and Anastasia’s reactions. They hadn’t lent help to Wayne because they trusted his power. Anastasia, especially, knew for certain that someone powerful enough to seal the Goddess of Darkness couldn’t have been so easily killed.
Ha, the goddess would never have a tryst with a weakling!
Sacred flames exploded in Wayne’s body, generating endless waves of heat. His loud cries of pain unnerved Juno.
You’ve been shouting for too long. Why haven’t you died yet?
Alert, she saw the black hood get lifted by the heated wind, revealing a familiar face.
“Wa-Wayne?!”
Juno’s eyes widened. There were two Waynes? Was it a disguise?
Rip!
Juno felt a pain in her chest. She looked down to find the black greatsword piercing through her chest.
With his strategy succeeding, Wayne didn’t bother to keep up the act. Grabbing her avian head, he thrust the greatsword through her chest multiple times, making a pincushion out of her. Crimson blood gushed out, containing too much negativity for it to be of any value.
Allowing the blood to overflow, Wayne made more stabs until the two sacred spears in his chest dissipated. Then he raised his black greatsword and swung it toward Juno’s neck.
“Who... are you?” Juno asked with visible confusion.
“Wayne Lando.”
Following the black flash, Juno’s head flew up.
Wayne swung his sword and erased her physical form and thoughts with overwhelming energy. His decisiveness in thoroughly killing her made Sophelia’s breath hitch. It seemed that in the surface world, her daughter had not become Wayne’s lover.
It didn’t make sense!
After the Lando family’s successful rebellion, Sophelia’s other self had become Auston’s plaything. Then the other Juno should’ve gone to the young master of the Lando family. That was how rebels operated. What had gone wrong?
Seeing Juno scattered in pieces, Sophelia felt such a pang in her heart that she forwent celebrating the victory and seducing Wayne in favor of looking for angelic blood that hadn’t dried on the ground.
“This world is insane. They shouldn’t be like this...”
Wayne looked down at Sophelia as she crouched and refined divine blood. Her satisfied smile made him shudder. He wasn’t sure if he should make a sarcastic remark or feel sorry for her.
No matter what her intention was, the Queen of the surface world had done her best to send her children out of Windsor, showing some motherly love. In the inner world... Wayne had no words for what was happening.
While he lamented the state of this world, the ground of the Great Cemetery split deep. Amid rumbling noises, a bone dragon emerged from the bottomless fissure. Mounted on the dragon with a hideous head and a frightening body was a skeletal knight wielding a lance, red light dancing in the empty eye sockets.
“Master...”
Wayne narrowed his eyes and ground his teeth together. With the Book of Greed, he was not only immune to the negative information, but could even plunder the information, maintaining his rationality at all times.
At this moment, however, a killing intent he could not suppress flooded his heart. He forgot about the strategy he had formulated and lunged at the dragon with his black greatsword.
He must kill Wayne tonight!!
