Chapter 81: Chapter 80: The Various Mountain Masters

"Wen Qingye beat a senior student at the Peak of Refining Essence Third Layer Heaven with a single palm strike? That’s incredible!"

"Xia Moyu is only at the Refining Essence Fourth Layer Heaven. Does that mean even he might not be a match for Wen Qingye?" freewebnoveℓ.com

"Not necessarily. Xia Moyu is extremely powerful, too. They’ve never fought, so who knows?"

.......

"You dare to attack someone? This is outrageous! A piddling student from North Mountain dares to challenge the honor of my South Mountain?" a senior student from South Mountain fumed, his shame turning to rage. "Let’s get him together! We’ll teach this brat a proper lesson!"

The South Mountain senior students in the North Mountain area all roared in anger and charged at Wen Qingye.

"Challenge the honor of your South Mountain? HAHAHAHA! As if you’re worthy?" Wen Qingye let out a great laugh. Instead of retreating, he advanced.

He executed the Butterfly Step, his figure moving as gracefully as a startled swan, fluttering like a jade butterfly. He had pushed the Butterfly Step to its absolute limit. His frequent Hand Seals danced up and down, and his Finger Technique was swift and fierce. Like a tiger pouncing on a flock of sheep, he instantly cut into the crowd.

BAM!

"Great Heaven-Tearing Monument Hand!"

Wen Qingye clapped his hands together. The joining of his palms released a tremendous residual power, and his entire being erupted with a supreme aura that seemed to pierce the heavens.

The South Mountain student at the head of the charge saw only a blur as the wind roared in his ears. He cried out in alarm, but before he could react, Wen Qingye’s palm struck him square in the chest. He tumbled away like a kite with a broken string.

"That’s two!"

Wen Qingye’s aura raged. With a great shout, he advanced again in a Dragon Walk and Tiger Stride.

BAM! BAM!

"Immortal Divine Wind Thunder Shock Finger!"

Wen Qingye’s fingers shot out like lightning, impossibly fast and carrying a biting wind. Two more South Mountain students tried to block his two-fingered strike head-on. An intense pain immediately shot through their wrists, as if the bones had snapped. A tyrannical, searing heat then coursed through their entire arms. With expressions of utter horror, they both grunted and spat out a mouthful of blood.

"That’s three! And four!"

Counting the brawny youth Dongfang Jie from before, plus these three, Wen Qingye had taken on four opponents in the blink of an eye. He sent all four South Mountain students flying. He was like a tiger stampeding through a flock of sheep—utterly unstoppable. His presence, for that moment, was boundless.

Wen Qingye laughed again, his aura swelling to an even more astonishing degree.

He moved with the Butterfly Step, his form as fleeting as a startled swan, nimble as a butterfly, as he surged forward once more.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Wen Qingye’s fingers flew, sending out blasts of Powerful Qi. A continuous series of clashes and muffled thuds echoed through the air.

The more he fought, the bolder Wen Qingye became, his Finger Technique growing ever fiercer. His form left a trail of afterimages across the North Mountain grounds, like dancing moonlight, mesmerizing and impossible to track.

He flickered among the South Mountain seniors like lightning, completely unstoppable. No one could withstand the power of a single one of his finger strikes.

In a flash, six more explosive bangs rang out. The remaining six South Mountain students were utterly unable to keep up with Wen Qingye’s speed and powerful Finger Technique. They were pathetically weak, like wooden puppets, and were sent flying one after another, landing on the ground in a miserable heap.

The senior students from South Mountain on the ground looked at Wen Qingye with ashen faces, their eyes filled with utter disbelief.

They were all senior students, elites who thought highly of themselves. Yet now, they had been soundly defeated by a freshman. Worse, from start to finish, this freshman had taken on ten of them at once without even looking like he was trying.

In an instant, only Wen Qingye remained standing in the North Mountain area.

A wind gusted, making his robes snap and flutter. Sunlight fell upon his handsome face, making him seem like an inviolable statue, reflecting a thousand brilliant rays of dazzling light.

The East Mountain senior students couldn’t help but feel a secret sense of relief. ’If we’d been as arrogant as those guys from South Mountain,’ they thought, ’we’d be the ones lying on the ground, moaning in pain right now.’

Many of the freshmen stared at Wen Qingye in shock. They had always known he was strong, but they never imagined he could defeat over ten senior students in just a few moves. A freshman had challenged over ten senior students—and from South Mountain, no less! In less time than it takes an incense stick to burn, he had effortlessly crushed those arrogant seniors.

"Are the South Mountain seniors throwing the fight on purpose? How else could they lose so easily?"

"Yeah, aren’t senior students supposed to be really strong? I sure didn’t see any of that just now."

"They had no strength, but still went to take over someone else’s area, only to get trashed so easily. How embarrassing!"

Hearing the surrounding chatter, the faces of the South Mountain seniors paled and flushed in turn. They scurried away behind their own area, not daring to show their faces again.

Many students from the Inner Courtyard began to take secret notice of Wen Qingye. They believed that, given time, he would be a peerless talent even in the Inner Courtyard. ’I need to remember this person,’ they thought.

"Brother Qingye is so strong," Little Yunshan whispered.

Xiaxia was secretly amazed as well. "Yeah, Master is incredible," she said.

Wen Qingye knew that while those senior students were indeed strong, they weren’t the truly elite ones who had been specially selected. So, their strength had a limit. ’I’ll be facing the real experts soon enough,’ he thought.

「About half an incense stick’s time later.」

A melodious, ancient bell chimed, its sound echoing throughout the entire Outer Courtyard of Qig Mountain Academy.

On a distant mountain peak, streams of light suddenly flashed. Majestic auras surged, one after another, and a blinding sword light tore across the sky. The streams of light descended, landing on the tall Purple Stone Arena.

Wen Qingye’s brow furrowed. He knew the four Mountain Masters responsible for the Four Mountains Martial Arts Gathering had arrived.

Five figures drifted down from the sky. Four of them wore black robes, while the middle-aged woman in their midst wore a purple one.

The five consisted of two men and three women: North Mountain Master Lil Ya, East Mountain Master Gong Tianshun, West Mountain Master Zhangg Tai, Huu Yucui of South Mountain Manor, and the middle-aged woman in the purple robe, Nie Qinglan, one of Qig Mountain Academy’s Vice Directors.

The moment the five of them landed, the surrounding Primordial Qi shuddered and pulsed around them, seeming to warp the very light. All the students of Qig Mountain Academy, whether from the Inner or Outer Courtyard, were stunned into silence, not daring to even breathe too loudly.

Wen Qingye also felt the mountain-like pressure and dense Primordial Qi. He knew the four Mountain Masters and the Vice Director were releasing it on purpose. But having seen all sorts of things, Wen Qingye’s expression didn’t change. He simply gazed forward, his face a mask of calm.

Within Wen Qingye’s body, his own vast reserves of Primordial Qi, feeling the suppression, began to surge frantically. It circulated rapidly through his meridians and acupoints with the rumble of thunder as it mounted an instinctual resistance.

Wen Qingye quickly circulated his Longevity Technique to resist the pressure. He couldn’t help but frown internally. ’It seems these Mountain Masters are truly formidable. Most of them are at the Refining Spirit Fourth Layer or Refining Spirit Fifth Layer Heaven.’
