Chapter 65: Chapter 64: Zhao Mei’s Surprise

"This man’s Swordsmanship is not to be underestimated. All three of us will attack together and take him down," one of the Refining Essence Third Layer Heaven bandits said, his tone sinking.

The other two nodded in agreement. At this point, neither of them had the courage to face Wen Qingye alone.

Of the three, one used a bow, one used a Long Spear, and one wielded a large saber.

The bandits with the Long Spear and the saber charged at Wen Qingye from the left and right in a pincer attack. The archer stood in the distance, already nocking an arrow.

Wen Qingye had already spotted the distant archer and was on his guard.

"Die!"

The saber-wielding bandit raised his massive blade, which pulsed with thick Primordial Qi, and brought it cleaving down. The air shrieked as the saber cut through it.

Just then, an arrow shot forth, completely cutting off Wen Qingye’s escape route.

"Silver Moon Wushang!"

Wen Qingye abruptly shifted his feet and slashed out. His sword split the incoming arrow in two. With another step, he parried both the saber and the spear, and with a final step, he and his two attackers swapped positions.

CLANG! CLANG!

In the blink of an eye, Wen Qingye used his exquisite Step Technique to bypass the saber and spear-wielding bandits. Now, only the archer remained before him.

The bandit instantly realized the danger. Panic seized him, and he slung his bow, preparing to flee.

"Clear Wind Chasing Moon!"

Wen Qingye’s body became a wisp of clear wind. His ethereal form instantly caught up to the fleeing figure, his sword emitting a pale, moon-like glint.

SWISH!

With a look of bitter unwillingness, the archer collapsed to the ground.

The saber and spear-wielding bandits were stunned, their faces masks of horror. That last strike had been too fast. Not just the sword—his Step Technique was even faster. So fast it made their hearts tremble.

Wen Qingye’s feet glided, as graceful and light as a butterfly.

"Two Waters Stab!"

The bandit with the Long Spear thrust it forward. The cold glint on its tip carried an unstoppable momentum, as if it could part a raging river, aimed directly at Wen Qingye.

"Bright Moon in the Sky!"

The sword in Wen Qingye’s hand began to dance. Strands of Sword Qi coiled and converged, finally forming a radiant moon that lunged forward.

The massive moon of Sword Qi shattered the spear’s point, and the ferocious energy then mercilessly obliterated the bandit who wielded it.

The last bandit had just raised his saber when he saw his comrade lying on the ground, horribly dismembered by the Sword Qi. Fear consumed him. He kicked off the ground and fled desperately toward Black Cloud Mountain.

"Sword, go!"

Wen Qingye opened his hand. The sword spun, tracing a bizarre arc through the air as it shot forward.

THWACK!

The sword lopped off the last bandit’s head. As the head flew into the air, blood sprayed from his neck like a fountain.

"Return!"

With a pull of Primordial Qi, the Cyan Mist Sword flew back into Wen Qingye’s hand.

In truth, this Flying Sword Skill was only second-rate. But the bandit had been scared witless and didn’t even dare to resist, allowing Wen Qingye to kill him with ease.

Meanwhile, Zhao Xia was finding it increasingly difficult to hold on. The bandit she faced was at the peak of the Refining Essence Fourth Layer Heaven. He was also a seasoned fighter with a swift and fierce Saber Technique, forcing her to focus all her attention on defense.

Zhao Hao’s battle with the lead bandit was raging. He held the upper hand, but he wouldn’t be able to finish his opponent any time soon.

Only Zhao Mei’s fight was at a stalemate. She and her opponent were evenly matched, their battle a pure contest of Primordial Qi.

With a turn, Wen Qingye appeared beside Zhao Xia in an instant. "Let me help you," he said calmly.

Zhao Xia started when she saw Wen Qingye approach. Her eyes subconsciously glanced toward his last position. The ground was slick with blood, and the bandits’ corpses were strewn about. They were all dead.

Zhao Xia bit her lip. "Did you... kill all of them?"

"Yes." Wen Qingye nodded, his eyes fixed on the bandit in front of them.

Zhao Xia stared at Wen Qingye, her mouth slightly agape, her eyes filled with disbelief.

The Refining Essence Fourth Layer Heaven bandit frowned. Looking at the nearby corpses, he grew uneasy. He knew for a fact that three of the dead had reached the Refining Essence Third Layer Heaven. He wasn’t sure even he could have killed them all.

"Brat, you killed so many of my Black Cloud Mountain brothers. Today, I, Jin Biao, will not spare you!" The saber-wielding bandit’s eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Wen Qingye.

Zhao Xia drew her whip back slightly, not moving away, but taking a position beside Wen Qingye.

Zhao Xia said in a low voice, "Let’s team up."

"Alright." Wen Qingye wasn’t overconfident; he simply nodded.

"Dawn of the Infinite!"

Jin Biao bellowed, his saber humming with a strange sonic frequency as he slashed toward the pair.

"Snake Trapped in Sorrow City!"

Wen Qingye’s sword moved. A torrent of fierce Sword Qi erupted, the countless streams raging forth like a host of Spiritual Snakes forming a cage to trap Jin Biao.

Only now did Jin Biao truly witness Wen Qingye’s Swordsmanship. It was sharp, ruthless, and utterly efficient—a level of mastery rarely seen in the world. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

CLANG! CLANG!

Jin Biao’s saber clashed with Wen Qingye’s sword. Wen Qingye felt a massive shock travel up his arm; he stomped his right foot, grounding the force.

"Golden Snake Emerges from the Cave!"

Zhao Xia’s Purple Whip lashed forward, striking like a Spiritual Snake hunting its prey. With a flash of violet light, the whip was upon Jin Biao.

Jin Biao reacted with incredible speed, pulling back his saber just in time to block Zhao Xia’s Purple Whip. The immense force of the blow nearly knocked the saber from his hand.

"Clear Wind Chasing Moon!"

Wen Qingye was quick to seize the opening. His body became a wisp of clear wind, moving with incredible speed. His sword glowed with a brilliant, moon-white light, its tip aimed straight for Jin Biao’s vitals.

Terrified and in a panic, Jin Biao desperately twisted his body to protect his vital points. But Wen Qingye’s sword had already struck, piercing straight through his wrist.

"ARGH!"

Wen Qingye had severed the tendons in his wrist. The saber clattered from his grasp. Sweat poured down his face like rain.

Zhao Xia gritted her teeth, knowing this was her chance. Her Purple Whip flew into action. A flurry of shadows danced through the air as the whip transformed into a giant python, its maw gaping as it lunged at Jin Biao.

Seeing that Zhao Xia intended to kill him in one blow, a vicious light flashed in Jin Biao’s eyes. He gathered the last of his Primordial Qi and launched a heavy palm strike at her.

SQUELCH!

Zhao Xia’s Purple Whip pierced straight through Jin Biao’s heart. His pupils widened, his hand frozen in mid-air, and he collapsed to the ground.

Zhao Xia glanced at Jin Biao’s body on the ground and took a deep breath.

"Are you alright?" Wen Qingye asked, walking over to her side with a hint of concern.

Zhao Xia offered a radiant smile and shook her head. She slowly got to her feet, her gaze shifting toward Zhao Mei. The two combatants there were locked in such a heated battle that they were completely oblivious to their surroundings.

"I’ll go," Wen Qingye said, following her gaze and understanding her concern.

Zhao Xia stopped him. "No need," she said in a tone that brooked no refusal. "You’ve fought one battle after another. You should rest."

Without giving Wen Qingye a chance to refuse, she took her whip and ran toward Zhao Mei.

The bandit was already exhausted. With Zhao Xia’s sudden appearance, he had no chance to escape and was promptly finished off by Zhao Mei.

Zhao Mei sheathed her sword and looked at Zhao Xia in surprise. "Sis, you finished your opponent already?" freeweɓnovel.cøm

Zhao Mei knew their strength was comparable, and Zhao Xia’s opponent had seemed even stronger than hers. ’How could she have won so fast?’

Zhao Xia smiled easily. "It wasn’t my doing. Wen Qingye helped me."

Zhao Mei’s eyes widened as she finally noticed the bodies littering the ground. She muttered, "Wen Qingye killed all these? Seriously? Isn’t he only at the Refining Essence Second Heaven? I thought he’d be dead for sure."

Just then, Wen Qingye walked over and happened to hear her. Zhao Xia shot her sister a glare. "Could you talk a little less?"

Zhao Mei gave an awkward laugh as Wen Qingye approached and then fell silent. She couldn’t fathom how his strength could be so formidable. The shock was considerable.
