Chapter 41: Chapter 40: Sumeru Mustard Seed

Wen Qingye’s footsteps blurred as he abruptly leaped backward.

Seeing Wen Qingye trying to flee, the Brain-Eating Monkeys charged after him in a frenzy. Their ferocious expressions made it clear they wouldn’t stop until they had caught him.

Wen Qingye leaped continuously through the trees, a pack of monkeys following close behind, creating a bizarre spectacle in the Hundred Break Mountains.

But as time went on, the distance between them shrank. After all, no matter how agile Wen Qingye was, he was up against monkeys in their natural habitat. How could he possibly outrun them in a forest?

"Bright Moon Lament!"

Wen Qingye held the Cyan Mist Sword horizontally before his chest. The blade suddenly erupted with a brilliant white light, like a crescent moon, illuminating the dim forest. Grasping the hilt with his left hand as well, he swung with both hands, unleashing a crescent-shaped wave of Sword Qi that tore through the air.

Wherever the Sword Qi passed, the ancient trees in its path toppled instantly.

The Brain-Eating Monkeys stared at the silvery-white Sword Qi in terror, scrambling and leaping about to dodge it.

HISS!

Wen Qingye suddenly felt a sharp pain in his arm. A Brain-Eating Monkey’s claws had raked across his arm, leaving three bloody scratches.

This particular Brain-Eating Monkey had three white dots on its forehead. Its aura was far fiercer than the others, and its movements were much more skilled. Wen Qingye knew this had to be the leader of the pack.

Wen Qingye kicked off with his right foot and continued to flee into the distance.

The Brain-Eating Monkey leader let out a strange cry and continued its pursuit of Wen Qingye. The disorganized monkeys behind it quickly followed suit.

Suddenly, Wen Qingye spotted a patch of sunlight ahead. He quickened his pace, then made one final leap.

Before him was a valley. Wen Qingye was stunned. ’A valley in the Hundred Break Mountains?’

Several sounds echoed from behind him. The valley didn’t look too deep, so without hesitation, Wen Qingye leaped down.

When the Brain-Eating Monkey leader saw Wen Qingye jump into the valley, it circled the edge, letting out two strange cries. Yet, it didn’t dare to follow, as if something terrifying lurked within.

Upon landing at the bottom of the valley, Wen Qingye found himself facing rows of neatly planted peach trees. They had yet to blossom and looked somewhat withered. A small path ran between them.

Wen Qingye knew at a glance that someone most likely lived here. ’Anyone who could live in seclusion in the Hundred Break Mountains must be extraordinary.’ After a moment of contemplation, he continued forward.

Beside the peach trees, other flowers and plants grew, lush and verdant, exuding vitality. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Eventually, Wen Qingye seemed to reach the end of the path. A small wooden cabin appeared before him. It looked ancient, with a thick layer of dust piled up before the door. In front of the cabin grew two peculiar plants.

Wen Qingye’s eyes lit up when he saw the two plants. ’An Ice Fire Vine and a Rain Dew Flower... here?’

Unsure if anyone was around, Wen Qingye didn’t dare to rashly harvest the two herbs. Both the Ice Fire Vine and the Rain Dew Flower were considered Seventh-Grade Herbs. The Ice Fire Vine contained the ultimate power of ice and fire; though its grade was relatively low, its rarity was comparable to herbs above Ninth Grade, even reaching King Grade.

The Rain Dew Flower, meanwhile, was one of the main ingredients for refining the Beauty Pill, making it a rather precious herb as well.

Wen Qingye cautiously approached the cabin and knocked lightly on the door. "Is anyone home?" he called out.

After a long moment with no response, Wen Qingye gently pushed the door open and stepped inside.

The moment he pushed the door open, a cloud of dust flew into his face, forcing him to quickly retreat several steps.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

Several dark shapes immediately flew out of the doorway. A quick glance told Wen Qingye they were just a few swallows. He then cautiously entered again.

The cabin’s interior was simple, containing only ordinary daily necessities. Everything looked neat but was covered in a thick layer of dust, indicating it had been uninhabited for a very long time.

Wen Qingye scanned the room several times but found nothing out of the ordinary.

Suddenly, a ring on the table caught his eye.

"A Sumeru Mustard Seed!?" Wen Qingye murmured, picking up the ring.

If anyone had heard Wen Qingye’s words at that moment, they would have stared at him in utter shock. In the entire Celestial Martial Country, no more than five people possessed a Sumeru Mustard Seed.

A Sumeru Mustard Seed was a ring that contained its own pocket dimension. Owning one meant you had a personal space where you could store items that were inconvenient to carry.

Wen Qingye slowly channeled his Primordial Qi into the Sumeru Mustard Seed. He felt a bit disappointed to find the space inside was only about three square meters.

In truth, this Sumeru Mustard Seed was already quite excellent. Most were only one or two square meters; a three-square-meter one was definitely among the best of the few that existed in the Celestial Martial Country.

The Sumeru Mustard Seed even contained some Primordial Stones. Wen Qingye counted them carefully—there were over three hundred Top-Grade Primordial Stones. That was equivalent to two years of the Wen Family’s profits, a considerable amount indeed.

Wen Qingye put on the Sumeru Mustard Seed. He was well aware of the saying: "Innocence is no crime, but possessing a treasure is." If word got out that he had a Sumeru Mustard Seed, even if someone managed to steal it, they still wouldn’t let him live.

Wen Qingye smiled. ’In that case, this cabin really has been abandoned for a long time. That means the two herbs by the door are ownerless. I can go and collect them.’

Wen Qingye found a few waterskins in the cabin. An idea began to form in his mind. He thought of the delicious Monkey Wine. After much deliberation, he ended up gathering every container in the room that could hold liquid.

Wen Qingye left the cabin and walked over to the Ice Fire Vine and the Rain Dew Flower. He carefully harvested the two herbs and stored them away. He had to admit, having the Sumeru Mustard Seed made carrying things much more convenient.

Unsure if the Brain-Eating Monkey Group had left, Wen Qingye decided to stay in the cabin for the time being. He sat down and began to think quietly, trying to recall any Martial Arts he could cultivate at his current level. After a long time, a particular Finger Technique came to mind.

The Finger Technique was called the Undying Finger Technique. It was the foundational technique for the Undying Seal Technique, the Martial Art that had made him famous in the Mortal Realm during his past life. Back then, Wen Qingye had spent considerable effort practicing this Undying Finger Technique.

And now, Wen Qingye felt he was finally ready to cultivate the Undying Finger Technique again. Its power was comparable to a typical Ninth-Grade Martial Art.

At this thought, Wen Qingye slowly stood up and extended a finger. His finger immediately turned a ghostly black and began to emit a strange light.

"Immortal One Pointing at Heaven and Earth!"

Wen Qingye thrust his finger forward. A massive amount of Primordial Qi gathered at his fingertip, transforming into a strange light. A jet of black, Powerful Qi shot forward.

"Immortal Divine Wind Thunder Shock Finger!"

"Undying and Undying Yin Yang Break!"

"Undying Heavens’ Endless Hatred!"
