Chapter 311: Chapter 310: The One Who Never Disappoints
Wen Qingye—the only rival of his life!
The only person Yu had ever truly admired!
Yu retreated several steps, his body gradually relaxing. His muscles went slack, but a surging power was gathering within him, like a glacial tide on the verge of erupting. At any moment, it could unleash power accumulated over millennia—enough to destroy everything in its path.
"Wen Qingye, thank you for lending me a hand that day!" Yu’s voice had become deep and hoarse.
Guo Jie asked in confusion, "What does Yu mean by that?"
"I don’t know. Maybe he had some kind of breakthrough," Yingg Tian guessed, letting his imagination run wild.
No one understood why Yu had said such a thing.
Suddenly, a frigid current enveloped both of Yu’s arms. They turned ice-cold, tinged with a faint purple light, and slowly coalesced into two enormous, blue dragon heads.
Wen Qingye’s eyes lit up. ’This Yu truly is remarkably talented.’
"Nether Ice Double Dragon Soul!"
A wild aura flooded Yu’s arms. Then, two ferocious, domineering Ice Dragons charged toward Wen Qingye with the force of a raging thunder storm.
The day Yu saw Wen Qingye use the Nether Ice Dragon Soul, he had been utterly shaken. He went back and pondered it day and night, not only cultivating the technique to Perfection but even finding ways to innovate upon it.
Wen Qingye took a deep breath and raised his sword high. The blade radiated an overwhelming killing intent that seized the soul. For reasons they couldn’t explain, a shiver ran down the spines of everyone who looked at it.
"Third Form of the Sword Emperor Technique! Fame That Moves Mountains and Rivers!"
As the blade slashed out, the surrounding waves of air parted. The stone platform of Piaomiao Peak itself seemed to buckle slightly under the pressure.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The dragons and the Sword Qi did not yield, locking together in a stalemate. The air erupted with constant explosions of Primordial Qi—powerful, resounding, and soul-stirring.
BANG!
Wen Qingye was violently thrown back four or five steps, a mouthful of fresh blood spraying from his lips.
Guo Jie watched, her hands clasped behind her back. Her eyes gleamed with excitement, and her heart pounded in her chest.
"Yu is as strong as they say!" Yingg Tian gasped, his eyes fixed on the dissipating Ice Dragons in the sky.
Wei Shuang’Er watched Wen Qingye’s retreating figure and murmured, "Has Wen Qingye lost?"
Little Monkey sighed in relief. "Just as I thought. Yu’s strength is enough to sweep away all the Registered Disciples of this generation."
A commotion rippled through the crowd as they broke into fervent discussion.
"Wen Qingye’s running on fumes. He’ll be defeated within three moves, no doubt about it."
"Hmph, how dare someone from a backwater country challenge the might of our Ancient Country."
"So arrogant. I knew he was no match for Yu."
The disciples from Luocheng Ancient Country were ecstatic. Seeing Wen Qingye stagger, they clapped their hands in delight.
"Shut up! It’s not over yet," Jin Ming snapped at the group from Luocheng Ancient Country behind him.
Hearing Jin Ming’s words, they all composed themselves and fell silent.
Others from Luocheng Ancient Country might try to curry favor with Nangong Xin, but not Jin Ming. He was a man who pursued only the ultimate limits, bowing to neither heaven nor earth.
For some unknown reason, Nie Shuang let out a soft sigh of relief upon seeing Wen Qingye injured.
"Just admit defeat. You’re no match for me," Yu said, shaking his head.
Standing in the wind, Wen Qingye lightly wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with his sleeve. A few strands of hair fluttered in the breeze. His eyes held a hint of a smile. "Is that so?"
As he spoke, Wen Qingye stood tall and proud, exuding an aura of one looking down upon the mortal world. The sword in his hand reflected a brilliant golden light that seemed to pierce the very heavens—impossibly domineering and pointed straight at the sky!
"Fourth Form of the Sword Emperor Technique! Those Who Oppose Me Shall Die!"
The crowd’s vision was filled with a crisscrossing web of golden light. From the One Thought Sword erupted a wave of Sword Qi powerful enough to crack the sky and shatter mountains.
A look of horror crossed Yu’s face; he felt as if his very blood had frozen in his veins. He was stunned for a moment, but snapped out of it almost instantly.
"Golden Wind Jade Void!"
Wisps of golden energy drifted from his palms, forming a smooth, golden jade disc in front of him.
CLANG!
BOOM!
Wen Qingye’s sword slammed into the jade disc, first letting out a piercing shriek, then sending Yu flying backward.
PTOO!
Yu spat out a mouthful of blood, and within the crimson spray was a faint green glint.
Wen Qingye’s pupils contracted in shock. ’He actually fused the Celestial Centipede into his own body? Then why didn’t he use its poison just now? If he had, I would have been caught completely off guard and surely been poisoned.’
"I’ve lost," Yu said, getting to his feet and shaking his head in resignation. "I can’t break that sword technique of yours. Even if I used the Nether Ice Double Dragon Soul, the best outcome would be my death in exchange for your severe injury."
A buzz went through the crowd.
Hearing Yu’s words, everyone around froze, their minds going completely blank.
Yu had lost!
Guo Jie hadn’t expected it!
Wei Shuang’Er hadn’t expected it!
Yingg Tian, Little Monkey, and all the others had never expected it!
Everyone was stunned into silence, but one person’s eyes shone with boundless fighting spirit. That person was Jin Ming.
No one had foreseen this result. Who could have imagined that Wen Qingye, with his cultivation at the Peak of the Fifth Heaven of the Yin-Yang Realm, could actually defeat Yu, a cultivator at the Peak of the Seventh Heaven of the Yin-Yang Realm?
Nie Shuang let out a dry laugh. For some reason, the outcome left a bad taste in his mouth.
Wen Qingye frowned and asked, "Why didn’t you use that thing inside your body?"
Yu glanced at Wen Qingye in surprise, then his expression shifted to one of understanding. "It seems you know Luo Xue. Otherwise, you wouldn’t know about the thing inside me. This was a duel between us. If I had used that poison, you would have surely died, wouldn’t you?"
Wen Qingye’s eyes narrowed slightly. Yu burst into laughter. "Hahaha! I told you, if I lost, I’d tell you what you want to know. The truth is, I’ve never been to Shangyou Country. And as for this Guann Xuan you mentioned, I’ve never even heard the name."
Wen Qingye fell silent at Yu’s words. After a long moment, he gave a bitter laugh. ’To think I was almost played by that Luo Xue.’
"Luo Xue?" Yu looked confused.
"I already know everything I needed to," Wen Qingye said. With a flick of his wrist, his One Thought Sword slid perfectly into its Sword Scabbard. He then turned and started walking down the mountain.
"Wait, Wen Qingye!" Yu suddenly called out.
Wen Qingye stopped but didn’t turn around.
"Here’s the Token. Take it. In a few days, I’ll be going to the Taiyi Ancient Country to complete a mission. When I get back, I’m challenging you again."
Wen Qingye caught the Token, then tossed his own to Yu. He chuckled. "Alright. I’ll be waiting."
...
Far away, a graceful figure stood watching Wen Qingye. He still wore that same faint smile—not boastful or ostentatious, but dazzling all the same. The watcher smiled.
’You really never disappoint.’
With that thought, the figure turned and walked away, vanishing from sight on Piaomiao Peak.
