Chapter 297: Chapter 296: Jade Maiden Sect
Tangg Jin stood there with a dark look on his face, feeling utterly disgruntled. After a long moment, he looked at Wen Qingye and said slowly, "Wen Qingye, I misjudged you. You’re a true talent."
Yann Xiangyang snorted coldly and turned his head to the side.
Nie Shuang looked at Wen Qingye and forced a strained smile. "Brother Wen, I never expected your strength to become so formidable in just two short months."
Wen Qingye gave a slight smile, nodded, and said, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll be taking my leave now."
Without waiting for Nie Shuang to speak further, Wen Qingye cupped his fist in greeting, then started walking toward the entrance of Lingbo Tower.
All eyes followed Wen Qingye’s every step as he walked away. Only after his figure vanished from sight did they slowly retract their gazes.
Nie Shuang looked at Yann Xiangyang and Cheng Yu, saying, "Should we go back and continue? The food hasn’t..."
"We can’t. We have to make a trip to the Sacrificial Hall on Celestial Profound Mountain. We’ll be leaving now," Cheng Yu interrupted, rejecting the offer.
With that said, Cheng Yu pulled Yann Xiangyang along, and they walked off into the distance.
Nie Shuang’s pupils constricted. He watched them walk into the distance, a sour feeling churning in his stomach.
Tangg Jin smiled. "They’ve all left. Perfect, that just leaves the two of us."
Nie Shuang nodded blankly, not saying a word.
.....
Wen Qingye returned to his residence and sat down cross-legged. The Profound Pearl hovered over his chest as he began to absorb the Primordial Qi Essence within it.
A long time later, Wen Qingye slowly opened his eyes.
’It’ll be at least several more days before I can break through,’ Wen Qingye thought to himself. ’Sanxi Water costs three thousand Sect Contribution Points for a single drop, and practicing the Five Elements Body Refining Technique requires a minimum of three drops. That’s nine thousand Sect Contribution Points. Who knows how long it’ll take to earn that much.’
There were a few missions that offered a large number of Sect Contribution Points, but some were too dangerous for his current level of strength. As for the auxiliary missions, like assisting with pill or Magical Artifact refinement, Wen Qingye didn’t take any of them.
He knew that one had to understand the virtue of patience.
Here in the Celestial Profound Sect, the people from the Four Great Ancient Countries and other nations were only superficially united, their loyalties divided. The disciples were a chaotic mix of personalities, and then there were the Seven Main Peaks of the core area. What’s more, with spies from the Taiyi Pavilion lurking about, the situation was far from clear.
DONG DONG! DONG DONG!
Suddenly, the sound of four bell chimes reached Wen Qingye’s ears.
Four chimes of the bell!
Wen Qingye’s heart stirred. ’Looks like something is about to happen.’
「Celestial Profound Mountain.」
The mountain was a sea of people, bustling with excitement. A large crowd was swarming toward the announcement board.
"Brother Ma, what does the announcement say?"
"Don’t push! I can’t see either! Stop pushing, everyone!"
"I can see it! It seems people from the Jade Maiden Sect are coming to our Celestial Profound Sect! Senior Qin Wuya is preparing a grand banquet on Piaomiao Peak."
"For real? People from the Jade Maiden Sect?"
Hearing the name "Jade Maiden Sect" was like a single stone stirring a thousand waves. Everyone was greatly stirred, their eyes shining with excitement.
"How could it be fake? It says right here that the people from the Jade Maiden Sect will arrive in three days."
"And I’m sure all you brothers know the reason for the Jade Maiden Sect’s visit, right?"
"Who doesn’t know? Hahaha!"
Just then, some of the more sharp-eyed individuals noticed a slight change on the Registered Disciple rankings.
"Look at the rankings! Tenth place has changed hands!"
"It’s Wen Qingye! Wen Qingye defeated Bai Shishuang from the Luocheng Ancient Country!"
"Someone not from one of the Four Great Ancient Countries has finally broken into the top ten! The Celestial Martial Country is going to make a name for itself this time."
.....
Wen Qingye also heard the news about the Jade Maiden Sect’s impending arrival, but he wasn’t particularly interested. His thoughts turned to the fire poison afflicting Qiuu Ming, and he knew he had to make a trip to the Nocturnal Strait and Sheng City.
The Supreme Fire Source Qilin Fire. A Supreme Treasure rare even in the Immortal Realm.
With this in mind, Wen Qingye headed toward Qiuu Ming and Zhou Yue’s residence.
It wasn’t long before Wen Qingye arrived.
Qiuu Ming was sitting in a chair. Although his face was still pale, it had gained a hint of color. Zhou Yue, however, was nowhere to be seen.
"Brother Wen, you’re here," Qiuu Ming said, quickly rising to his feet upon seeing Wen Qingye.
Wen Qingye waved his hand. "There’s no need for that. Please, sit."
After slowly sitting back down, Qiuu Ming looked at Wen Qingye with gratitude. "Brother Wen, I’m so grateful to you. If it weren’t for your method of channeling Primordial Qi, I don’t know how much longer I would have had to endure the pain of this fire poison."
Wen Qingye smiled. "Think nothing of it; it was a simple method. The main reason I came today was to ask you about someone."
Qiuu Ming said, "Who? As long as it’s someone I know, I’ll tell you everything."
"Yu," Wen Qingye said softly. "I presume you know of him?"
"Him?" Qiuu Ming’s brow furrowed when he heard Wen Qingye mention Yu. "I don’t know why you’re asking about him, Brother Wen, but since you are, I will tell you what I know."
Qiuu Ming paused, then continued, "Yu is a member of the Shan Family, the largest family in the Dayan Dynasty. His talent is astounding, almost to an unnerving degree. He’s stronger than many others of the younger generation in the Dayan Dynasty. For some unknown reason, however, he only goes by his given name, so many in the Dayan Dynasty call him Young Master Yu."
"He could have become a Core Disciple with his talent, but he was unwilling, content to remain a Registered Disciple. He’s not very active around Celestial Profound Mountain; for the past two months, he’s been continuously taking on one dangerous Sect mission after another, so he rarely shows his face. Many people have challenged him, and without exception, all of them have failed. That includes Jin Ming, the Martial Zealot ranked second among the Registered Disciples from the Luocheng Ancient Country."
Wen Qingye frowned. "So no one knows the true extent of his strength?"
Qiuu Ming nodded. "Jin Ming is at the Seventh Layer Heaven of the Yin-Yang Realm. He himself once said that Yu’s strength far exceeds his own."
’Celestial Centipede? Yu?’
Wen Qingye was determined to investigate this matter thoroughly.
"Brother Wen, I heard the people from the Jade Maiden Sect are here. Is it true?" Qiuu Ming suddenly asked with a smile.
Wen Qingye nodded. "It is. It seems the Jade Maiden Sect’s Fourteenth Elder, Bu Yanting, has come with several of their Registered Disciples. How come you didn’t know?"
"Yue’Er didn’t tell me, haha," Qiuu Ming said, scratching his head with an awkward laugh.
Wen Qingye couldn’t help but laugh at his words.
Qiuu Ming then lowered his voice. "I’m afraid this visit from the Jade Maiden Sect isn’t as simple as it seems. I’ve heard Bu Yanting’s name before."
"How so?"
"The Jade Maiden Sect and the Celestial Profound Sect have been on friendly terms for several thousand years, and there have often been marriage alliances between us. The purpose of their visits is usually about the same. But having Bu Yanting lead the delegation this time... that’s what makes it complicated. I’ve heard she’s extremely headstrong and despises injustice. She particularly loathes the entire concept of marriage alliances..."
"In any case, it has nothing to do with you, so why do you care so much?"
A sharp female voice suddenly cried out from the doorway, cutting Qiuu Ming off. He flinched and immediately started nodding vigorously. "Right, right, you’re right. It definitely has nothing to do with me."
Zhou Yue strolled in, shooting a fierce glare at Qiuu Ming.
