Chapter 250: Chapter 249: Controlling Everything

Half a month later, Wen Qingye arrived at the Imperial City.

It had been nearly two months since he emerged from the Thousand Rivers Secret Land. Wen Qingye’s cultivation had broken through again, reaching the Refining Spirit Seventh Layer Heaven. His power was now even more solid and profound.

The moment Wen Qingye set foot in the Imperial City, he started walking toward Yiyun Pavilion.

"Young Master Wen, our master requests your presence."

Suddenly, a man in black blocked Wen Qingye’s path and said expressionlessly.

Wen Qingye’s gaze swept over the man. ’Just Refining Spirit First Layer Heaven.’ He narrowed his eyes, his mind instantly racing. ƒrēewebnovel.com

"What? Could it be that Young Master Wen is afraid?" the man in black said, his voice raspy.

Wen Qingye smiled faintly. "Trying to provoke me is pointless. In all of the Celestial Martial Country, I highly doubt there’s anyone who can kill me. Lead the way."

The man in black nodded and led the way deeper into the city.

After about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, the man in black led Wen Qingye to a secluded residence in the eastern part of the city. The surroundings were elegant and the area was sparsely populated, making it a peaceful spot.

"Young Master Wen, after you."

Wen Qingye gave a slight nod, pushed open the door, and walked right in.

The moment Wen Qingye pushed the door open, his eyes were met with a stunningly brilliant sea of flowers. A beautiful figure stood among them, a hint of languor on her lovely face as she calmly admired the gorgeous scene.

"You’re here," Ling Wei said, smiling faintly at Wen Qingye. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Wen Qingye shook his head. "I was wondering who it was. You’re certainly well-informed."

Ling Wei laughed. "Doesn’t that just mean I’m always keeping an eye on you?"

Wen Qingye smiled at her words.

Ling Wei turned to look at the fragrant garden and said softly, "Ling Qi is planning to make his move at the banquet. He’s willing to do anything for the throne now."

"Oh?" Wen Qingye asked. "Isn’t Liu Ying his only real backer? He dares to try and usurp the throne with just him?"

"Liu Ying?" Ling Wei gave a cold smile. "No. Ling Qi has somehow acquired a colorless and odorless poison, one that’s difficult for even an ordinary Yin-Yang Realm master to detect. He plans to use it at the banquet to kill me and our third brother. The other princes have either been sent away or have no ambition. After that, the throne will naturally be his."

Wen Qingye nodded, glancing at Ling Wei. ’Ling Qi hasn’t even acted yet, and she already knows everything. It seems there’s more to Ling Wei than meets the eye.’

"What? Surprised I knew everything?" Ling Wei looked at Wen Qingye and smiled. "You’ll understand when the time is right."

"Since you already know all of this, why tell me...?" Wen Qingye asked, puzzled.

Ling Wei said slowly, "I’m just letting you know."

Ling Wei’s fair face had a casual air. As the sunlight dappled her features, she seemed to take on a softer beauty.

Ling Wei said softly, "The day you depart will be the day I ascend the throne."

"Congratulations," Wen Qingye smiled.

"Mm," Ling Wei nodded, saying nothing more.

The two of them fell silent. Wen Qingye’s gaze drifted to the colorful flowers in the distance.

After a while, Ling Wei suddenly spoke. "I have some matters to attend to. If you don’t have a place to stay in the Imperial City, you’re welcome to stay here. I bought this residence, but I rarely use it."

"That’s not necessary. I’ll head to Yiyun Pavilion," Wen Qingye said, waving his hand with a smile.

Ling Wei faltered for a moment but recovered almost instantly. She nodded. "That’s fine as well. I won’t see you out, then."

Wen Qingye nodded and walked toward the gate. Ling Wei watched his retreating back with a slight frown until he disappeared from view.

After leaving the residence, Wen Qingye couldn’t help but shake his head with a wry smile.

The streets of the Imperial City were bustling and full of life.

As Wen Qingye walked toward Yiyun Pavilion, a child suddenly came running in his direction and stumbled.

Quick as a flash, Wen Qingye lunged forward and caught the child, but in doing so, he inevitably bumped into the person in front of him.

"Are you okay?" Wen Qingye asked, smiling at the child in his arms.

"I’m okay, I’m okay! Thank you, big brother!" the child said, looking up at Wen Qingye with gratitude.

Wen Qingye patted the child’s head. "Go on now, go and play."

"Kid, are you looking for death?"

A sharp shout suddenly echoed in Wen Qingye’s ear. He turned his head and saw it was the young man he had just bumped into.

"Little Lin, let it go," the old man beside the youth chided in a low voice, his brow furrowed.

When Wen Qingye saw the old man, he was inwardly shaken, and a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes. ’This old man’s cultivation is formidable. Even Ling Xiao would likely be a step below him. Who is he?’ Wen Qingye’s mind was suddenly flooded with questions.

The young man heard the elder’s words and nodded, but not before shooting Wen Qingye a vicious glare.

As he watched the young man and the elder depart, Wen Qingye couldn’t shake the feeling that things were not as simple as they seemed.

.......

When Wen Qingye arrived at Yiyun Pavilion, the entire place was buzzing with activity.

This time, the Celestial Martial Country had secured the most slots out of all the Sixteen Countries. Within the Celestial Martial Country, Qig Mountain Academy had the most, with Wen Qingye, Yann Chuxue, and Yann Xiangyang being chosen. Celestial Academy had two: Nie Shuang and Cheng Yu.

These arrangements had been made privately among them. They had asked for Wen Qingye’s opinion, but he had shown no interest in the matter.

When Yann Xiangyang saw Wen Qingye arrive, her gaze shifted uneasily. No matter how you looked at it, the opportunity for her to go to the Celestial Profound Sect was something Wen Qingye had given her.

"Brother Wen, you’re finally here!" Nie Shuang stepped forward with a laugh. "We’ve all been here for four or five days already."

Wen Qingye had indeed lingered in Phoenix City for quite some time, which was why he was a little late.

Yann Chuxue said, "The day after tomorrow, once the Emperor’s banquet is over, we’ll be leaving the Celestial Martial Country. We should cherish this last day we have here. Who knows when we’ll ever be able to return?"

Cheng Yu, however, chimed in excitedly, "I heard the Celestial Profound Sect is located within the Celestial Profound Mountain Domain! The entire domain stretches for tens of thousands of miles, crisscrossed with mountain ranges whose peaks pierce the sky. It’s said to be teeming with rare treasures and countless Spirit Beasts, just like an Immortal Realm from the legends. Best of all, hundreds of nations are situated around it, including powerful Ancient Countries. It’s supposed to be incredibly prosperous and exciting!"

Though everyone had been feeling a bit melancholy, Cheng Yu’s words made their eyes light up with anticipation.

The Celestial Profound Sect, a power that held sway over hundreds of nations, had long been a place of their dreams. How could they not be thrilled to finally have the chance to go there?

Wen Qingye watched their eager expressions from the side, merely smiling without saying a word.

Everyone continued to chat among themselves until dusk fell, at which point they dispersed.
