Chapter 333: Chapter 332: The Water Element’s Beating Is the Reason

They said it was flying, but in reality, it felt more like being thrown into the sky.

Indeed, this mode of transportation worked by using the resonance of a Magic Array, augmented by the pull and final repulsion of Runes to send people to their destination.

It was basically a form of pseudo-teleportation powered by a Magic Array.

The accuracy was remarkably high, however, thanks to the island’s massive Magic Array and its Island Protection Grand Array.

You couldn’t say the method was particularly incredible, but it was clever and the concept was rather novel.

In reality, this could have been accomplished using either Magic or an Array alone.

Combining them was likely simpler and had a lower barrier to entry, which had its merits. Unfortunately, it also came with significant limitations.

Jiang Zuo was unfazed as they flew up, and Su Qi wasn’t the least bit flustered either.

Her three months of adventuring hadn’t been for nothing.

She had expected Jiang Zuo to be nervous, so she was a little surprised to see his completely calm expression.

Su Qi pinched Jiang Zuo’s cheek. "Are you just pretending?"

"You know me best, don’t you? Take a guess," Jiang Zuo said, his face impassive.

He was almost always expressionless. Even when he smiled, it was a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

It was only when he was with Su Qi that he would occasionally let out a genuine, happy smile, or at least smile inwardly.

And Su Qi could always tell.

But Su Qi wasn’t infallible. Right now, she couldn’t tell if Jiang Zuo was putting on a brave face or was genuinely composed.

"I’m not guessing. But at least you saved face. You didn’t make a fool of yourself in front of your wife," Su Qi said with a smile.

Just then, they began to descend, landing on the shore.

There were no towering skyscrapers here, only small, independent cabins scattered across the surface of the sea.

The view was spectacular.

The vast, boundless sea stretched out in all directions.

They spent a single Third-Grade Spirit Stone to rent one for a while.

Once they got to their room, Su Qi flopped directly onto the bed. "The sun isn’t up yet. Come on, let’s get some more sleep."

Jiang Zuo: "..."

Somewhere on the shore of East Water Island, a middle-aged man said to a young woman, "Xiaomo said she’s arranged for someone to bring Chu Qing and Chu Qing over. They’ll be here tomorrow.

She certainly doesn’t pull any punches."

The young woman shook her head. "You’re the one who’s truly something else, leaving Chu Qing and Chu Qing in her care. It’s not easy to look after them for so long, and to do such a good job of it.

Can’t you at least think of buying them something nice to thank them for their trouble?"

The middle-aged man said, "I can just give them money and let them buy what they want. They’d prefer that anyway."

The young woman sighed in resignation, then added, "I heard Xiaomo has been taking the Chu Qing siblings all over the place to find fortuitous opportunities. Apparently, it’s all thanks to a Fellow Daoist in her group chat."

The middle-aged man shook his head. "What kind of opportunities could they possibly find? They’re just kids who don’t know any better. And what sort of people are in that group of hers?

There might be disciples from major sects and factions, but not a single one is a true chosen of the heavens.

The one with the highest Cultivation is merely Tier Three.

It’s merely a sign of their own limited experience. Of course, if they want to believe that, we can play along. They still have a lot of growing up to do, after all.

If we happen to run into that ’Fellow Daoist,’ we could even give him some pointers. Get him to keep it up. If he can lead that group to grow together, that would be for the best."

The young woman nodded. "That’s true. They’re still young and inexperienced, so there are bound to be things they don’t understand. But growing together is a difficult prospect. We can worry about that later.

It’s just that East Water Island has been anything but peaceful recently.

I heard it’s something called an Elemental Wound.

The island will very likely be besieged by Elements. If they can’t weather the storm, East Water Island is finished."

"We’ll see. Our systems of power are different, after all. We’ll help if we can. If not, then this is simply their tribulation to face," the middle-aged man said.

Since the middle-aged man had spoken, the young woman naturally didn’t press the issue. Forcibly interfering with a different power system wasn’t necessarily a good thing.

"By the way, Xiaomo isn’t getting any younger, but she and her group started their Cultivation too late. Aren’t you going to teach her personally?"

The middle-aged man sighed. "I would, but you know Xiaomo’s temper. She’d never agree to it.

If they hadn’t been completely desperate back then, they never would have accepted my help.

A pack of ungrateful wolves who don’t know their place."

Still, I have to admit, those people did take good care of Chu Qing and Chu Qing.

「In the mountains of East Water Island」

In a conference room, a beautiful woman seated at the head of the table sighed. "We’ve posted the commission, but it’s a case of ’different fields, different worlds.’ No one seems capable of solving this problem.

If we can’t find anyone to solve it soon, we’ll truly have to abandon this place."

"Your Excellency Shui Luo, why not ask for help from others in the world of Magic? As you are all Mages, surely someone must have a solution," someone asked.

Shui Luo—Liu Yiyi’s Magic teacher—sighed again. "This is an Elemental Wound. No Mage would dare get involved.

Confronting the Elements—a conflict in modern Magic—won’t necessarily damage a Mage’s magical foundation, but it will leave them weakened for some time, and there could be other, unknown repercussions.

They are pure Elemental Spirits, after all. We would have no just cause to attack them.

So no price is high enough to convince them to intervene, and besides, they might not even have a solution.

Conventional methods are useless against Elements."

At this point, someone else asked, "Fellow Daoist Shui Luo, what exactly caused the Elemental Wound? We’ve reached this stage; is there still something you’re hiding?"

Shui Luo hesitated before finally saying, "You may not believe this, but the Elemental Wound originated from a single Water Elemental Spirit."

"A Water Elemental Spirit? You mean the Water Elemental Spirit, one of the seven Elemental Spirits nurtured here on East Water Island?" someone asked.

Shui Luo nodded. "Yes. That exact Elemental Spirit."

"Then what happened to the Water Elemental Spirit? How did it trigger an Elemental Wound?"

"What I’m about to say is rather incredible, but every word of it is true." Shui Luo looked at each person present. "It got beaten up."

"Huh?" No one could process that for a moment.

Shui Luo spoke again. "It was beaten up. A human beat it up—brutally—on the Elemental Level.

The Water Elemental Spirit went out once and happened to encounter a human, and a conflict immediately broke out.

The Water Elemental Spirit suffered a crushing defeat. It was beaten so badly it began to question its own existence. It was beaten so badly it couldn’t even take care of itself. It was beaten into a drooling imbecile.

As a result, the other Spirits are furious. They believe this is all humanity’s fault.

They feel that if humanity doesn’t give them a satisfactory answer, they can no longer coexist peacefully with humans.

So, in a few days, they will likely attack."

Even after Shui Luo had finished, the others still couldn’t quite process it.

’The Water Elemental Spirit was beaten up? Beaten so badly it started questioning its own existence?’

’How is that even possible?’

’On the Elemental Level, Elemental Spirits are the strongest fighters. It’s unheard of for a human to be their match. (Though no one has ever tried, it’s considered a fact.)’

’And a Mage beating up an Element?’

’What kind of person would even do that? Everyone knows that while beating up an Element won’t necessarily strip you of your status as a Mage or your ability to cast Magic, you will most certainly lose all your elemental affinity.’

’And if your elemental affinity is too weak, your path as a Mage is essentially over.’

’No conventional Mage would ever dare do something like that.’

’So who in the world did something so despicable? If they wanted to commit career suicide, fine, but why drag all of us down with them?’
