Chapter 22: 75th Floor
"Almost there..."
The more time passed, the more Charles was beginning to realise just how overpowered his class was.
Although he wasn’t spending time in combat, as his focus was purely on speed, he was able to see just how great his class was at avoiding fights.
Anything he didn’t want to fight was avoided.
When his mana ran low, he found a tower substance that replenished his mana.
Just with this method alone, one of the most dangerous towers in the world was being cleared by an adept soloist.
As he stepped through the door and onto the 75th floor, nothing else changed.
It was the same story again.
The third boss of the Elurion Tower appeared before him.
Yes, this boss was certainly more frightening than the others he had seen during his climb so far. Yet it was still not close to Caarthanax, the Blue Dragon, or even Algadon, the Red Dragon.
This boss room resembled a jungle. The entire floor was covered in thick trees with leaves that stretched up to the highest point of the ceiling. The ground was covered in dark green grass.
It smelled like a true jungle.
Swinging through these jungle trees was a gorilla with thick white skin. It was roughly three times the size of the largest gorilla that ever lived on Earth.
If it swung on the branches too hard, they would break.
This gorilla didn’t approach Charles straight away. Instead, it kept swinging around and making ape noises, trying to make itself look as intimidating as possible.
「Ivory Kong」
Grade: Elite [4th Grade]
Potential: Master [5th Grade]
Class: Ape
...
Unfortunately, you don’t really scare me. And the way you’re acting makes me want to get rid of you.
Usually, Charles would leave creatures like this. After all, it had nothing on the item list that Charlotte needed.
However, he had a feeling that if he absorbed this creature’s essence, he would be able to earn either a spell, technique, or passive that could increase his physical strength.
Not to mention, he had a feeling that the prince wasn’t following him anymore. This meant that he didn’t need to rush.
As he had thought, the gorilla landed on the ground in front of him. It was as though it sensed the intention in his heart.
The gorilla towered over him like a house and started beating its incredibly muscular chest.
The entire tower seemed to rumble as Ivory Kong continued trying to intimidate its opponent.
Unfortunately for this gorilla, Charles was really starting to get a hang of his Editor’s Authority.
He understood exactly which laws he could create in order to use the least amount of mana whilst creating the largest effect.
In this circumstance, he had already come up with an idea.
﹂[Editor’s Authority Cast] ~ Awaiting authoritative words...
"Being physically stronger than me is not allowed."
This law did not use much mana, as it used himself as a comparison point rather than being vague.
He could have simply said something along the lines of, "Being very strong is not allowed." But that created the question of what defined very strong.
With this, Charles restricted the Ivory Kong’s strength significantly. freeweɓnovel.cøm
Even though its body was large and its muscles were bulging, it could no longer produce greater strength than Charles was able to!
The large white gorilla stopped in its tracks, suddenly realising its lack of strength.
Simply holding itself up with its now weak legs was difficult for it. It was like another few tons of weight had been added to its body.
Then, it fell to its knees.
The creature looked down at its own body, trying to figure out what the hell had happened to it.
Meanwhile, Charles stood in front of it, no longer feeling threatened.
He held his dragon scale dagger in his hand, wondering how exactly he should deal with this boss.
...
Ten minutes later, and it had been done.
Charles sat on the corpse of the Ivory Kong in a cross-legged position with his eyes closed.
Now that the boss was dead, it was time to absorb its essence.
As always, Charles felt the now-familiar feeling of the creature’s strength becoming his own.
He inhaled it deeply and allowed it to satiate his need for strength and power.
Once he was done, he finally opened his eyes.
A brow rose on his face as he took a look at what he had gained.
[Great Ape Spirit]
[Elite Essence Absorbed]
﹂[Wounds Healed | Mana Replenished | Grade Threshold Reached!]
[New Master Spell Acquired]
﹂[Ancestral Silverback]
[New Passive Acquired]
﹂[Primal Leverage]
...
Not just a passive, but also a spell. This is more than I even expected.
Charles focused on both of the new descriptions in his system.
「Ancestral Silverback」 ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
﹂Summon a loyal Silverback Gorilla to fight at your side. The Silverback is summoned at one Grade higher than your own, up to a maximum of Master Grade. Its strength, size, and abilities increase with its Grade.
「Primal Leverage」
﹂The greater your Strength surpasses that of your opponent, the more devastating your attacks become. Excess Strength is converted into increased damage, knockback, and armour-breaking force.
...
A summoner spell... I’m not a summoner class, yet I’ve been given the spell.
...
Could this be another perk of my Editor class?
