Chapter 475: Chapter 437: Wedding (3)
Tanner Sinclair’s words left everyone stunned, especially the Sinclair men, whose legs suddenly felt a bit weak.
According to the latest power rankings for the Martial World published by the International Martial Alliance, a Martial Lord was truly at the apex of the pyramid.
In the past two years, the only people in the entire country known to have broken through to the Martial King Realm were the new Young Master of the Morgan family and the old patriarch of the Lockwood family. No one had ever heard of anyone reaching a level above that.
They had initially guessed Aurora might be a Martial King-level expert. To think she was actually a Martial Lord...
Alden Quincy had originally intended to help the Head of the Quincy Family ask Aurora Sinclair about taking on disciples, but now he had completely abandoned the idea. ’With such immense power and talent, why would she ever take an interest in the Quincy family’s children?’
"Uncle, you’re not kidding, are you? That’s a Martial Lord..." Zeke Quincy swallowed hard, looking completely stupefied.
"The Lockwood Patriarch told me himself."
Tanner Sinclair’s expression was grave as he scanned the Sinclairs gathered there. "I wasn’t going to tell you this," he warned, "but today is Aurora’s wedding day. No one is to bother her with worldly matters. Especially you, Jade. Aurora’s status is far beyond what the Sinclair and Quincy families could ever hope to associate with. Know your place, and don’t cause trouble for her."
Her intentions so bluntly exposed, Jade Sinclair’s cheeks instantly flushed red. Embarrassed and defensive, she retorted loudly, "What did I say? How can you just stand there and accuse me?"
"I know exactly what you’re thinking. Today, whatever it is, you keep it to yourself." After speaking, he shot a look at his brother-in-law, Alden Quincy, before striding away.
"You..."
Jade Sinclair’s face twisted with anger. Leaning on Master Sinclair’s arm, she whined, "Dad, did you see him...?"
Master Sinclair patted her hand and said with a complex expression, "Jade, things are different now. Your brother is right. On a happy occasion like this, we can’t be upsetting Aurora with such matters."
"I wasn’t even going to do anything! Why is everyone ganging up on me?" Jade Sinclair grumbled under her breath, clearly fuming.
’I was just thinking about it, wasn’t I? It’s not like I actually did anything!’
The Sinclairs walked a little further down the red carpet and soon spotted Master Morgan chatting with someone in front of a floral arch.
The man was dressed in traditional and dignified attire, and his entire bearing set him apart from ordinary people.
’Alvin Morgan mentioned that he was inviting a master from Aurora’s school. Could this be another expert from Sunstone?’
’He had been to Sunstone before, but he had only ever met Master Aerion, no one else.’
Master Sinclair couldn’t help but quicken his pace.
"Mr. Sinclair, you’re here! Congratulations, congratulations..." Cassius Morgan was the first to spot Master Sinclair and stepped forward with a smile to greet him.
"Mr. Morgan, and to you as well," Master Sinclair replied, shaking Cassius Morgan’s hand as they exchanged a few pleasantries.
Cassius Morgan introduced the man beside him to the Sinclairs. "This is Apothecary Warner, a relative of my wife’s."
Though the introduction was casual, Master Sinclair didn’t dare show any disrespect. Even if the man wasn’t from Sunstone, that surname alone was not to be taken lightly.
’The Warner Family... true miracle workers of the nation.’ ƒreewebɳovel.com
’It was thanks to the Warners and Aurora’s junior disciple that his own illness had healed so quickly.’
Master Sinclair had the rest of the Sinclairs behind him pay their respects to Ronan Warner.
Smiling, the group took their seats.
The banquet was set up outdoors, just beyond the floral arch. Several large, round tables draped in red cloth were arranged on either side of the central red carpet, bearing plates of fruit, pastries, wedding candies, and cigarettes.
The whole setup looked rather spartan.
"This wedding is so shabby. The Morgan Family is really taking advantage, aren’t they? How could they prepare something like this?"
Jade Sinclair was thoroughly displeased, whispering her complaints to Janet Sinclair beside her.
Janet Sinclair pointed to the building ahead of them and said flatly, "It’s not really possible to hold a grand celebration here. That building is full of advanced weaponry. Setting off a single firecracker could probably activate it."
Jade Sinclair froze, clearly startled. She lowered her voice to complain, "And Aurora... why would she agree to have her wedding in such an ominous-looking place? It’s terrifying!"
"You could have stayed home..." Janet Sinclair shot back, looking at her with a wry smile.
Rendered speechless for a moment, Jade Sinclair glared at her. "I’m just heartbroken for Aurora! A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and hers is so pathetic. The spartan conditions are one thing, but they barely invited anyone. They clearly don’t value our Aurora at all."
’She had expected the Morgan Family to invite the leaders of all the great families from Kingsford. But instead, there were only five tables. The Sinclairs were already occupying a table and a half, which meant practically no one else had been invited.’
"Mom, lower your voice," Zeke Quincy said, glancing at the people at the next table and giving her a subtle tug.
Jade Sinclair finally fell silent, but her displeasure was written all over her face.
The younger members of the Morgan family were seated at the adjacent table.
Zella Vaughn turned to her husband with a worried expression. "Honey, don’t you think your third brother’s preparations were a bit too rushed? Won’t the Sinclair Family be displeased...?"
Noah Morgan whispered, "I heard from our second brother that he’d originally bought an entire island for the wedding, but Aurora can’t be away for too long. In the end, they had to settle for holding it here."
"But do the Sinclairs know that? I’m worried they’ll hold it against our family."
Zella Vaughn glanced at the simple decorations and then stole a look at the expressions on the faces of the Sinclairs at the next table, her concern growing.
Noah Morgan smiled and poured her a cup of tea. "Don’t worry, our little brother is always reliable. Quick, try this tea. I heard it’s an ice tea from the Kaelan Mountains. They only produce a little over ten pounds of it a year."
Zella Vaughn immediately lifted her cup and took a sip, her attention instantly captured by the tea’s fragrant aroma.
A few minutes later, the sound of a door opening came from the nearby building.
Everyone looked over to see several handsome young men from the Morgan family emerging with trays in hand.
"We’re starting to eat already? Isn’t there going to be a ceremony?" Jade Sinclair asked in astonishment. Her voice was a little too loud, drawing sideways glances from the Morgans at the next table.
"Jade..." Tanner Sinclair said her name, giving her a pointed look.
Jade Sinclair had been bottling up her anger ever since she got off the boat, and at this point, she truly couldn’t hold it back any longer.
She looked toward Master Morgan at the main table, stood up, and said, "Mr. Morgan, our Aurora may not have her parents here, but she still has us, her relatives. Isn’t this wedding a bit too simple?"
"Jade, sit down!" Master Sinclair’s expression flickered as he snapped at her. He immediately turned to Cassius Morgan to apologize. "My apologies, Mr. Morgan. My daughter is just very outspoken. Please don’t mind her."
Cassius Morgan showed no signs of displeasure. Instead, he raised his teacup with a warm smile. "It is true that our hospitality has been somewhat lacking. I hope our dear in-laws will forgive us." With that, he toasted the Sinclair family with his tea.
Master Sinclair quickly rose to return the gesture. "Not at all, not at all. I’m sure this was our Aurora’s idea. Alvin is just too indulgent with her."
The two men exchanged a few more pleasantries, and the awkward moment gradually passed.
Unhappy, Jade Sinclair was pushed back down into her seat by Janet Sinclair, where she sat and stewed in silence.
"Mom, it’s a happy day, don’t be angry. Here, eat something to cool off..." Zeke Quincy quickly broke off a piece of the sponge cake in front of them and stuffed it into Jade Sinclair’s mouth.
"Ugh... what is this stuff? Why is it burnt?"
Seeing his mother’s expression sour again, Zeke Quincy immediately poured her a cup of tea. "Mom, quick, try this tea!" he urged, holding it up for her. "It’s amazing!"
Jade Sinclair noticed the stares from the people around them, swallowed her anger, and took a sip of the tea.
She had to admit, the tea was actually quite good. It was light and refreshing, with a subtle, sweet aftertaste.
Jade Sinclair’s anger subsided slightly, but she still complained in a hushed voice, "Keeping the ceremony simple is one thing, but must the food be simple too? Just look at this sponge cake. It’s burnt black. How could they dare to serve this?"
