Chapter 156: Chapter 92: Demon Beast Tide, Dongfang Yao Goes All Out
Dongfang Yao smiled. "Don’t worry about it. We’re a team, so of course we help each other out."
The other team members snapped out of it and came over to them.
It wasn’t that they didn’t want to act, but that they simply had no chance.
The abilities of these three were just absurdly powerful.
"BOOM!!!"
From within the mountains, another explosion thundered, making the ground shake violently. The air ripped apart as a creature as massive as a mountain took to the sky, then hurtled down toward them like a meteorite.
Dodge!
They dodged instantly. BOOM! A powerful shockwave erupted. Dongfang Yao activated her ability, suppressing the expanding wave on the spot.
Their eyes turned to a spot not far away, where a hundred-meter-tall mutant beast lay motionless on the ground. Its Life Fluctuations were gone.
"A Level 6 Mutant Beast!"
Looking at this behemoth, the team members were horrified.
A Level 6 Mutant Beast, killed so easily?!
Their gazes subconsciously turned towards the mountains.
The explosions continued, thick smoke and dust billowed, and the fluctuations never ceased for a moment.
They could hear and see the battle, but Chen Yu himself was nowhere in sight.
Soon, the noise from the mountains ceased. With a rush of air, a figure descended from the sky.
It was Chen Yu.
Looking at the corpses of the mutant beasts on the ground, Chen Yu’s gaze then turned to Dongfang Yao and the others.
"Are you guys all right?"
"We’re fine. It was nothing major," Dongfang Yao replied.
"Brother Yu, you’re not some kind of demon, are you?" An Ran blinked.
Chen Yu: "..."
"Are there demons this handsome?" Chen Yu retorted, widening his eyes.
"Mmm, that checks out," An Ran nodded.
"..."
"Let’s go this way. Behind the mountains is the Abyssal Canyon; there’s nothing to investigate there," Chen Yu said, pointing in a direction.
The others nodded and followed him in the other direction.
「Tangula Abyss.」
Within the deep and remote mountains, on a cliff, a figure appeared.
It was shaped like a person, yet different. Between its eyebrows was a vertical eye.
Otherwise, there was no difference from a human.
The three-eyed man stood on the cliff, his gaze fixed on the distance. A moment later, another three-eyed youth appeared.
"Leader, our star-wave detectors show that humans have entered the area. What should we do next?"
The three-eyed youth asked respectfully.
"What’s the situation?" the three-eyed man asked calmly.
"Many of our fiends are dead. These humans are formidable."
The three-eyed youth replied.
"Release a fiend leader. Have it lead an army of fiends to test them. Don’t reveal yourself. Just observe from the shadows. Hide your tracks and don’t give yourself away."
The three-eyed man said calmly.
"Yes!"
The three-eyed youth nodded, and then, with a flash, his figure vanished.
Watching the three-eyed youth disappear, the three-eyed man’s gaze turned to the distance.
’Looks like the humans here aren’t so easy to deal with. I’ll have to request reinforcements,’ the three-eyed man muttered. His form flickered, and he vanished.
「Tangula Abyss.」
In the wilderness, the figures of Chen Yu and the others appeared.
Three hours had passed. They had already scouted an area of several hundred kilometers. However, aside from Demon Beasts and some other mutant beasts, they hadn’t seen any trace of the Alien Race.
But for Chen Yu, this wasn’t the main point.
If they couldn’t find the Alien Race, it wasn’t a major loss.
This mission was inherently uncertain. Exploring the Tangula Abyss would fulfill part of their objective, and even if it wasn’t perfect, being able to harvest the Source of Life made everything else secondary.
In three hours, Chen Yu had already harvested millions of units of the Source of Life.
The new Abyss World was like an undeveloped dungeon instance. He actually wished he could stay longer.
Anyway, the mission had no time limit. Searching for traces of the Alien Race while harvesting the Source of Life—it couldn’t get any better than this.
"Huh? There’s no fog here. That’s strange," An Ran said in surprise as they walked through the wilderness.
This stretch of wilderness wasn’t shrouded in mist, which was a stark, almost unbelievable contrast to the other places they’d been.
Chen Yu: "When things are this unusual, it means trouble is brewing. Be careful. We might run into something more dangerous."
An Ran nodded. The other team members also braced themselves, their Qi ready to be unleashed at a moment’s notice.
"Hm?"
While moving quickly, Chen Yu suddenly stopped and looked toward the depths of the wilderness.
"What is it, Brother Yu? Is a mutant beast coming?" An Ran looked at Chen Yu.
The others also looked at him.
Chen Yu shook his head. "No. I sense city structures, traces of civilization."
"A city!"
The team was instantly energized, putting themselves on high alert.
"It’s a ruined city. It seems the civilization here was also destroyed," Chen Yu said.
"Let’s go check it out. We might find traces of the Alien Race," Dongfang Yao said.
The others nodded in agreement.
Immediately, they all unleashed their Qi and sped toward the depths of the wilderness.
After sprinting for several dozen kilometers, a ruined city appeared before them in the distance.
Collapsed skyscrapers, the wreckage of airplanes, and several crashed spacecraft littered the devastated landscape.
From this scene, it was perfectly clear that this was a city that had been ravaged by war.
The ground was cracked, and the city was a ruin. Some of the buildings were covered in vines, indicating that the city wasn’t destroyed recently. A considerable amount of time must have passed.
As for how much time had passed, it was impossible to know.
And according to the information they had, this should be the first ruins of a civilization discovered within the Tangula Abyss.
And this area, coincidentally, was not covered by the mist.
Looking into the distance, they could see some mist, but there was none in the vicinity of the ruined city.
