They proceeded with caution to the entrance of Mist Canyon. Staring into the dense fog, they couldn’t shake a bad feeling.

"Tch. You’re just a coward," the female student scoffed, curling her lip in disdain.

But at that very moment, a strange cry echoed from within Mist Canyon. A giant mantis abruptly materialized out of the deep fog.

The five-meter-tall mantis’s forelimbs, like the scythes of the Death God, slashed through the air as it charged straight for the pair.

"Watch out!"

Startled, the male student immediately fell back.

"Pathetic!"

The female student watched the Mutant Mantis charge, and a dark light began to emanate from her body.

"VWOOM—!"

A powerful shockwave erupted, blasting the Mutant Mantis back into the fog and eliciting a pained cry.

"Tom, you should just go back to the academy. This place isn’t for you." Having sent the mantis flying, the female student sneered at her partner, who stood a short distance away.

The male student’s face turned bright red.

She looked back at the male student with pride. "Tom, what are you just standing there for? Don’t forget this is a ranking match. Our goal is to be champions, and we absolutely can’t let that damned Easterner walk all over us."

The color returned to the male student’s face. In a flash, he rushed forward. But just as he was about to finish off the critically injured Mutant Mantises, a strange roar echoed through Mist Canyon.

Two mantises, each over ten meters tall, appeared.

Their black bodies, faintly glowing, made them look like monsters that had stepped right out of Hell.

The male student followed right behind, charging at the other Mutant Mantis.

The male student was aghast.
