Chapter 113: Chapter 80: Alliance Faction, Lola Abyss

Perhaps this conflict could be suppressed with the Alien Race as a common enemy, but should it ever erupt, a civil war within humanity probably wouldn’t be far behind.

Once that balance is broken, war is inevitable.

The outcome, however, would be anyone’s guess.

"How about we cooperate?" Dongfang Ji spoke just then, his voice deep.

Chen Yu took a sip of his drink and set the glass down. "Since the three other regions are ganging up on us, teaming up to resist them is a given. However, we need to be clear about the terms of this cooperation."

’He wasn’t about to stand by and be bullied right to his face.’

The students from the other three regions were joining forces, and every one of them was Elite Level. Their combined strength was not to be underestimated.

"Of course, we need to be clear about that." Zhuge Qingfeng nodded, took a sip of his drink, and continued, "Our cooperation is simple. If any one of us four is in danger from the other students and calls for help, the rest must intervene. Even if there’s no call for help, if you see something happening, you still have to step in. As for our final scores, that will come down to individual ability. How does that sound?"

"No problem," Chen Yu agreed with a crisp nod.

A smile spread across Zhuge Qingfeng’s face. "In that case, let’s toast to our partnership."

"CLINK!"

The four of them clinked their glasses and downed their drinks in one gulp.

With the agreement made and contact information exchanged, the group didn’t linger. They finished their drinks and left the restaurant.

Chen Yu saw them to the entrance of the villa complex. As the three figures disappeared into the distance, Chen Yu’s gaze drifted toward the other villas.

’This was the first he’d ever heard of clashes within the Superpower Alliance.’

After standing at the entrance lost in thought for a moment, Chen Yu had just turned to leave when Dongfang Yi appeared not far away.

Seeing Dongfang Yi, an idea popped into Chen Yu’s head. He immediately walked over. "Senior Dongfang, do you have a minute? I’d like to ask you about something."

"Is this about those three asking you to team up?" Dongfang Yi asked before Chen Yu could even state his question.

Chen Yu stared at him, taken aback for a moment, before nodding. "Yes, it is."

"You can team up with them. What they said about the other three regions is true," Dongfang Yi said.

"Then what happens if there’s an... ’accident’ in the Abyssal Realm?" Chen Yu asked.

Hm?

Dongfang Yi looked at Chen Yu, a glint in his eye. "Are you thinking of killing someone?"

"..."

Chen Yu put on a serious expression. "Of course not. I’m just asking... what if an accident were to happen?"

Dongfang Yi gave him a long, hard look. "Confrontation is fine, but don’t even think about killing anyone. It’s not an option. There will be people entering the Anomaly Realm ahead of time. They’ll intervene if anyone’s life is in mortal danger. If you really do kill someone, regardless of the consequences, you’ll be lucky to leave Jingzhou alive."

"Not even in self-defense?" Chen Yu asked, looking at Dongfang Yi.

Dongfang Yi stared back at him. "Self-defense is fine, but there’s a limit. You can beat them half to death, just make sure you leave them alive."

"I see. All right then. Thanks, Senior Dongfang. I’m going to head back and rest." Chen Yu nodded and, with that, turned and walked toward his villa.

Dongfang Yi watched Chen Yu’s retreating figure, rubbing his chin. ’Was that guy born to be a killer or something?’

’If he really does kill someone... the Capital City is in for some serious trouble.’

’Ah, whatever. Let him be. If something really happens, I’ll just have to bail him out. I can’t stand that Western faction anyway.’

With a flicker in his eyes, Dongfang Yi turned and left as well.

「A short while later.」 Dongfang Yi’s figure appeared in a manor in the Capital City.

In the main hall of the villa, a man in a suit was looking at Dongfang Yi.

"You want to enter the Lola Mountain Abyss?"

The man in the suit looked at Dongfang Yi, his expression one of surprise.

Dongfang Yi nodded. "Yes. I’m going in to have a look."

The man in the suit hesitated. "This is... this is a bit difficult to arrange. You’re only telling me now, and the finals are tomorrow. It’s not easy for me to pull this off. Besides, there will be people watching. You don’t need to worry about the students’ safety."

"This is the Capital City. Are you telling me you don’t have the authority?" Dongfang Yi said coolly. "Don’t give me excuses. I’m just going to observe."

The man in the suit lowered his head. After a moment of silence, he looked up at Dongfang Yi. "Fine. I can make it happen. But you have to promise me you won’t do anything out of line. Otherwise, I won’t be able to answer to the Old Master."

"Fine." Dongfang Yi nodded and turned to leave. He paused at the doorway and looked back at the man.

"You’re a Dongfang. Don’t let your loyalties get skewed." With that, Dongfang Yi’s figure vanished like a phantom, leaving no trace behind.

The man in the suit: "..."

’Too bad I can’t kill them...’ Chen Yu sighed inwardly as he lay on the bed, enjoying Sophie’s massage.

’If he couldn’t deliver a killing blow, the most he could do was beat them to a pulp.’

’Since Dongfang Yi had warned him so explicitly, his hands were tied.’

’Then again, it made sense. After all, some of the students in the finals were S-rank Ability Users.’

’Their potential was huge!’

’They might even become True Gods in the future.’

’The other three regions could team up to suppress people, but they couldn’t kill them.’

’Those were the rules.’

’With people watching, it was impossible to eliminate anyone, even if he wanted to.’

’And there was no need to guess at the power level of the people doing the watching.’

’Fine, I won’t kill them. Beating them half to death will have to do...’ The thought flashed through his mind, and Chen Yu closed his eyes.

...

The night passed quickly.

The World Ranking Tournament was finally reaching its grand finale!

At nine o’clock sharp in the morning, after finishing breakfast, Chen Yu followed Director Xu into an SUV and soon arrived at Jingzhou Academy.

As he stepped out of the vehicle, Chen Yu scanned his surroundings, spotting the figures of other students in the distance.

"Chen Yu, your safety is the number one priority," Director Xu said from beside him.

Chen Yu gave a slight nod.

Director Xu then led him to the waiting area.
