Chapter 79: Who?
Denzel quickly stepped back and created several meters of distance between himself and Patrick
The two of them continued to stare each other down.
Patrick remained where he stood, his chest rising and falling steadily while blood trickled from his nose and dripped onto the ground beneath him.
For a brief moment, he simply stared at Denzel with widened eyes, almost as though he couldn’t quite process what had just happened.
Slowly, he raised a hand and touched his nose before glancing down at the blood staining his fingers.
"Huh"
"Hehe, I don’t fucking believe it"
His gaze lingered on the blood for a second longer before he looked back up at Denzel.
"You landed a hit."
"Not just once, but two fucking times!"
There was a pause as if he needed to say the words twice to fully believe them himself.
A smile gradually spread across his face, and before long, a low chuckle escaped his lips.
"Honestly, I thought you were like the rest of the commoners"
"Weak and cowardly, not even able or willing to put up a fight"
"But you’ve shown some grit and proved me wrong"
’Huh?’
’Why is he talking like this? Did he have a change of heart and finally decided to treat me like an ally’ Denzel thought confused at how Patrick was talking now
He shook his head slightly while continuing to laugh.
"Looks like I treated you too lowly."
The smile on his face widened even further as he cracked his knuckles and sparks of bright red flames burst from them
"You are definitely worth crushing now"
Tilting his head to the side, he continued staring at Denzel.
’Fuck!’
’What did I expect’
’It’s Patrick for fuck’s sake’
’The literal definition of a hot headed maniac. No way he’s letting me of the hook’
As soon as the words left his mouth, Patrick stomped his foot against the ground and brought both hands together in front of him.
The reaction was immediate.
A terrifying wave of mana erupted from his body and spread outward in every direction, causing the surrounding air to tremble under the sheer pressure of it.
The invisible force washed over everyone present like a massive tidal wave, and several of the guards instinctively stepped backward as the weight of Patrick’s aura descended upon them.
At the same time, the flames surrounding his body intensified, growing brighter and hotter with every passing second.
Denzel felt a chill crawl down his spine despite the scorching heat filling the area.
’What the fuck is that?’
His eyes remained fixed on Patrick as he felt the overwhelming amount of mana pouring out of him.
’How much mana does this guy even have?’
The amount was absurd.
Patrick continued chuckling to himself, but before long the chuckles turned into outright laughter.
His eyes never left Denzel for even a second as flames began gathering between his palms, slowly condensing into a growing mass of fire.
With every passing moment, the attack became larger.
The heat radiating from it spread throughout the entire area, causing the air to distort and shimmer.
Even the guards standing far away could feel it. frёeωebɳovel.com
Then, just as the attack continued growing stronger
"Patrick!"
A voice suddenly rang out from behind him.
Everyone instinctively turned toward the source, and it was none other than perhaps the only person capable of stopping Patrick at that point.
Aisha came running through the shattered doorway of the house, her breathing slightly uneven from the rush
She was still wearing a coat that concealed her bulky figure, and her eyes immediately locked onto the terrifying mass of fire gathering between Patrick’s hands.
"Patrick, what are you doing?"
"Do you want to kill someone?"
"Leave him alone!"
Patrick didn’t even bother looking at her, his mind however was only enraged the more by Aisha’s words.
"Leave him alone? Why the hell would you say that"
’Did he do something to brain wash her mind or something? I was certain I heard her screams when I came into the masion, she was in pain, I was sure of it. I dont know what he did to you mother, but when I kill him, I’m sure it’s gonna be reversed’
Then, his attention returned entirely back on Denzel.
"Stay away from this, mother."
The flames continued to grow, burning louder as Patrick’s anger built
"It’s nothing too serious"
"I’m just exterminating a bug."
As he spoke, the fire swelled even further, becoming so dense with mana that it made Denzel’s skin crawl.
Denzel remained silent as he watched the attack continue to form.
His eyes narrowed.
’Huh? The fuck is this mana surge?’
’I might not know much about this mana and magic stuff but I’m sure of one thing’
’If he throws that attack, I’m not gonna make it.’
His muscles gradually tensed as he prepared himself.
’Which means I’ll have to attack him before he attacks me’
’It’s the only reasonable option’
’Damn it, this is my chance, but is it really the best option?’
’It’s a coin flip chance whether I can deflect that attack or not.’
He exhaled slowly.
’Still...’
’...I don’t have much chances right now.’
"You’ve stayed on the surface of this world much more than a typical bug should..."
"...It’s time to set things straight"
Patrick said as he prepared to launch the attack towards Denzel
’I’m fucked!’ Denzel thought all his hopes of blocking the attack gone
Just as Denzel was about to move, and just as Patrick’s attack seemed ready to be unleashed
A hand gently landed on Patrick’s shoulder.
"That’s enough."
A voice called out from Patrick, filled with resolve.
The instant Patrick heard the voice, he twitched and stopped mid motion
The madness burning in his eyes faltered.
A long breath escaped his mouth as his body visibly relaxed, the raging flames surrounding him beginning to flicker uncertainly.
Slowly, he turned around and stared at the figure standing behind him.
For several seconds, neither of them spoke, just a moment of intense eye contact which did seem a bit too cringe for Denzel.
The atmosphere remained tense as everyone watched in silence.
Patrick gnashed his teeth, and the frustration on his face became obvious.
However, despite his anger, he eventually looked away.
Then, with visible reluctance, he released the technique.
The massive gathering of fire dispersed into countless sparks, and the overwhelming pressure that had weighed down the area gradually faded away, returning the entire household to its once peaceful aura.
Patrick clicked his tongue before tilting his head toward the newcomer once more.
"I don’t understand what your business in this is."
Only then did Denzel get a proper look at the person standing behind Patrick
