Chapter 770: Chapter 760: Be Careful
"Alright, alright, she’s already grown up, whatever happens, Jared Quinn is there, it’s not up to you, right?" Howard Seymour pulled his wife over. "Okay, you all can go back now. Private jets are so convenient these days, remember to fly back a few times. If Jared Quinn has an episode, you must stay rational, don’t act impulsively. His episodes aren’t scary, what’s scary is that he might hurt you when he’s not fully conscious."
"Don’t worry, I know," Melody Thorne smiled slightly.
On the plane, it wasn’t until they left Crestfall that Melody Thorne withdrew her gaze.
"Reluctant to leave?" Jared Quinn casually draped his arm over her shoulder.
"Yes," Melody Thorne pinched Jared Quinn’s prominent nose. "Therefore, you need to treat me better from now on and listen to everything I say. Otherwise, I’ll go back to Crestfall alone and won’t return."
"Hmm."
Two days later.
Melody Thorne spent half a day at the company. Harold Chapman had already thoroughly investigated the matter regarding Howie. Indeed, someone had manipulated that obese sister; her death was in vain. However, the mastermind behind it had yet to be uncovered.
"Thank you," Howie stood in the office. He wondered if he’d been rather lucky, from a small-time starlet, signed to the company by Melody Thorne, to now having everyone know his name.
"You’re welcome," Melody Thorne stared at the computer in front of her. "Howie, don’t take on any film projects for the time being. Let everyone think you were devastated when wrongly accused, then participate in a reality show, showcasing your best self. I’ll have Nina King arrange everything for you. Just follow her advice."
"Okay." Howie turned to leave but couldn’t help asking the question he’d always wanted to ask. "Why did you choose to sign me at that time?"
He remembered being uncooperative, refusing to strip when Melody Thorne asked him to.
"Because you have spirit."
Melody Thorne wouldn’t say that she knew he’d become famous from the start.
This answer was satisfying enough, and Howie left the office.
"Melody, it’s raining outside. Let me drive you back," Nina King walked in from outside.
"Alright," Melody Thorne had almost finished handling some matters, and she had promised Timmy she’d return early.
Rain poured down outside the car window, the road was a bit congested, and Melody Thorne took out some food, eating while watching Nina King drive.
"Can you please buckle your seatbelt?" Nina King looked at her actions with a twitch at the corner of her mouth. Did this pregnant woman genuinely trust her driving skills?
Melody Thorne pulled on the seatbelt. "Not many can earn my trust."
"Hehe," Nina King chuckled dryly.
With Melody Thorne in the car and rain outside, Nina King didn’t dare drive too fast. She turned the steering wheel for a corner.
Suddenly, a figure darted out from the roadside.
"Watch out!" Melody Thorne exclaimed in surprise.
Nina King slammed the brakes, but the figure was still struck and hurled away.
Melody Thorne got out of the car, seeing a blood-covered man lying on the ground. "Nina, quickly, quickly call Dr. Moore!"
Hospital.
Dr. Moore performed checks and treatment on the man. "Madam, the injuries on his body were caused by a beating. The car hit didn’t cause major harm."
"It’s all my fault. Why didn’t I keep an eye out? Thankfully, Melody is alright. What’s the deal with this man suddenly darting into the street?" Nina King spoke regretfully.
"What happened?" Leon Rivers and Jared Quinn hurried over from the company, their gaze turning icy upon seeing Melody Thorne’s clothes drenched. "Why are your clothes wet?"
