Chapter 2: Infinite Adaptation Core
And then everything went blank.
After a few moments, Rishub regained consciousness. His mind surged violently, flooded with memories that did not belong to him. They weren’t his, yet they felt complete real enough to blur the line between who he was and who this body had been.
He let out a slow breath.
"You really were pitiful weren’t you?"
The words slipped out quietly, almost like a passing judgment rather than mockery.
The original owner of this body was a fifteen year old boy named Nova Valencrest, His father was a Knight Captain of the Duchy of Frost, and he lived with his parents in a small village called Coldrock.
Nova had been weak since birth, unable to inherit even a fraction of his father’s strength. In a world where power defined worth, that alone had sealed his fate.
Tomorrow was supposed to be his awakening ceremony the moment that could have changed everything , but it never came.
He had gotten into a fight with a Count’s son and his lackeys. What followed wasn’t a fight, but a brutal beating merciless and one-sided until his body finally gave out.
And at that exact moment Rishub took his place. A dull pain spread across his body again, grounding him in reality. Every bruise, every ache, every lingering injury told the same story.
So that’s why it hurts this much He slowly clenched his fists, feeling the weakness in them.
"Well... I guess I didn’t get reborn as a noble." A faint, tired smile formed on his lips, but it didn’t last long.
"But still..." His eyes steadied, the hesitation within them fading. "Now that I have a new life "
"I’m going to live it to the fullest."
For a brief moment, silence surrounded him. Then his expression hardened.
"And from now on..."
"I’m no longer Rishub ." He took a slow breath, as if sealing that identity away.
"My name is Nova Valencrest."
Breaking his thoughts, a sudden sound echoed in his mind.
Ding!!
A faint blue panel appeared, floating right in front of his face.
"What the—?!"
Nova flinched slightly, startled as his eyes locked onto the translucent screen.
[Host’s Transmigration Successful]
[Memories Installation Complete]
[Binding Process Successful.] fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
The words appeared one after another, each line glowing faintly before stabilizing.
A brief pause followed.
Then—
[You have awakened a Innate Skill: Infinite Adaptation Core]
[Rank: SSS]
Nova’s eyes widened slightly, his breath hitching for a moment.
"Is this... my system?" He muttered under his breath, a mix of realization and disbelief in his tone.
[Host is correct]
The response came instantly. Nova slowly exhaled, calming himself as his thoughts began to settle.
Well... I did say I didn’t need a system, a faint smirk appeared on his lips. But if it’s being handed to me I’m not going to refuse it.
[Host’s choice is wise]
His expression turned more focused. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"But what the hell is that innate skill and its rank is SSS ?" Nova asked, narrowing his eyes slightly.
[It is host’s innate skill]
[Infinite Adaptation Core]
[Rank: SSS]
[It enables infinite growth through adaptation and Evolutions , Evolution Points are gained through actions and survival, allowing acquisition of skills and traits. Critical conditions may trigger automatic evolution , All changes are permanent. ]
Nova listened carefully, his mind quickly processing every word. The more he understood...the more his expression changed. This wasn’t normal.
This was...overpowered.
He tried to stand up from the ground.
"Ghh—!"
A sharp groan escaped his lips as pain shot through his entire body, forcing him to stiffen for a moment.
[Condition Detected: Sustained Physical Pain]
[Analyzing Threshold...]
[Infinite Adaptation Core Activated.]
Nova froze slightly as the blue panel flickered again.
[Generating Skill...]
A brief pause.
Then—
[ Congratulations! ]
[Passive Skill Acquired: Pain Resistance ]
[ Rank : E ]
[Description: The ability to endure and dull physical pain, allowing continued function despite injury.]
Nova blinked, then he felt it.
The pain that had been overwhelming just moments ago began to ease. Not gone completely, but reduced enough that his body no longer felt like it was breaking apart.
He flexed his fingers slowly. It’s was still there , but he could handle it now. Understanding dawned almost instantly. Rank E... so it’s not perfect yet.
"So this is how my innate skill works..."He muttered, dusting off his clothes as he stood up properly this time.
[Affirmative]
The system responded calmly.
Nova exhaled and began walking toward the edge of the forest. With the original Nova’s memories now fully integrated, it felt as if he had lived here for years.
Nothing felt unfamiliar. Every path, Every direction. He knew them , Soon he stepped out of the woods and spotted a small river stream flowing nearby.
For a moment he stopped, The scenery in front of him felt... unreal.
The dense green woods, the soft sound of flowing water, the calm breeze brushing against his skin, and the golden glow of the evening sun Everything felt ethereal.
So this really is another world Then another thought crossed his mind. If I go home like this... Mom will definitely worry.
His expression softened slightly, but there was nothing he could do about his condition.
He crouched down near the stream and splashed water onto his face. The cold sensation helped clear his mind a little, though his torn clothes still looked pitiful.
Then his gaze shifted, to the reflection in the water, he paused. In this life he was handsome as well.
A sharp jawline, a straight nose, and deep black eyes that resembled a void. His dark hair only enhanced his features, He stared for a moment longer.
"Haa..."
A small sigh escaped him. Weak... but not lacking in the looks department , He straightened slightly.
He wasn’t short either around 178 cm maybe more.
After finishing, he stood up and began walking toward his house. The sky had already started dimming, the evening settling in quietly.
Then he spoke.
"System... show me my profile."
There was a brief pause. Then the panel appeared.

==================
Nova stared at the information, his mind already analyzing every detail. He didn’t yet know what counted as average or high in this world but one thing was clear.
He was weak...Very weak.
He took a mental note of everything displayed on the panel, deciding to properly analyze it later when he had more clarity.
"Infinite Adaptation Core..."He murmured under his breath .
"It sounds impressive... but in the end, it still depends on me."His eyes narrowed slightly."No matter how strong the skill is, if I don’t act, it means nothing."
With that thought, he dismissed the panel.
It took him around fifteen minutes to reach his house. His body was still in bad condition, so he didn’t rush, carefully controlling his pace with each step.
As he neared his home, his gaze lifted.
A two story house stood before him simple, yet elegant in its own way. It wasn’t luxurious, but it carried a sense of warmth and stability.
His father, Edward Valencrest, earned enough to support the family comfortably.
In the Duchy of Frost, under Duke Theodore Frost, strength and hardwork was respected but so was fairness. The duke was known as a powerful swordsman, yet also a just and righteous ruler who treated his people well.
Because of that his father’s position held weight.
A Knight Captain.
He worked hard... to provide for this family.
Nova stood there for a moment, silently observing the house.
Then he stepped forward. The door creaked slightly as he pushed it open and walked inside.
"I’m back, Mom."
Nova heard faint noises coming from the kitchen and immediately understood his mother was preparing dinner. Then her voice came, "Nova , why are you so late?" There was a hint of anger in her tone, yet it was filled with warmth.
A moment later, she stepped out of the kitchen, a utensil still in her hand. A small pout rested on her elegant face, making her look both strict and gentle at the same time. She was a beautiful woman in her late thirties, always taking care of her small family with her tender hands.
But the moment her eyes fell on him, everything changed.
The utensil slipped from her hand and clattered onto the floor as horror filled her eyes. She rushed toward him in panic, her movements unsteady.
"Honey—what happened to you?! Why do you look like this...? Who did this to you? Tell me!"
Her voice trembled as her hands held his shoulders, and tears began to gather at the corners of her eyes.
Nova looked at her for a moment before replying calmly, "It’s nothing, Mom. I just got into a fight."
As if it didn’t matter.
But she shook her head immediately, her expression firm despite the worry in her eyes. "You don’t have to hide it, son. Tell me the truth... I’ll make sure your father punishes whoever did this."
Her grip tightened slightly, unwilling to let it go.
Nova’s gaze steadied, a quiet resolve forming within him. "Don’t worry, Mother. I’ll take care of it myself."
He paused briefly before adding,
"After I awaken tomorrow." His eyes no longer wavered. This time, he wouldn’t remain weak.
His mother paused for a moment, her gaze lingering on his face. She noticed something different in his eyes a quiet determination, a will to become strong, one that reminded her of his father.
Because of that, she didn’t press him any further.
"Okay... okay," she said softly, her tone easing. "But at least go clean yourself and put some ointment on those wounds. I’ll prepare dinner. Your dad won’t be coming home tonight he’ll be escorting Lady Asia Frost to the Temple of Light for the awakening ceremony tomorrow."
She turned slightly, her voice carrying a hint of seriousness. "Go. Get yourself cleaned."
"Okay, Mom," Nova replied, though his thoughts were already drifting.
He still didn’t fully understand what this "awakening" truly meant in this world. His mind felt scattered, trying to process everything at once.
But for now he decided he would ask the system later.
