Chapter 20: Epic, Level 14
From the wide-open door, a young group walked inside the storage room with widened shoulders and confident steps. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
There were 5 people in the group, three males and two females.
At the front was one man who had an UZI in his right hand as he strolled like he owned the place.
His chest was broad, padded with a grey vest that made his figure highlight even more.
Behind him was a blonde woman who was dressed in a short skirt along with a similar vest on her torso, making her appear like a unique mix of sexiness and danger.
At the end, the second woman entered and closed the door behind herself, holding a polybag filled with tons of energy drinks and chilled products.
Clearly, the group had ransacked the main building of the Shimada mart before entering the storage room.
Jacob, accepting his duty as the leader, fixed his cowboy hat before confidently walking towards the newcomers.
Fredrinn on the other hand simply watched with his instincts sharp and focus unshakeable.
His left hand was sitting idle on the sword at his side, while his right hand was inside the pocket which held the revolver.
Even though it only had 3 bullets left, Fredrinn had enough confidence in his accuracy to believe that he wouldn’t miss any shots.
"Welcome to our humble group, my new friends! I must say, I didn’t expect such a high profile entry." Jacob spoke eloquently, his hands making slight gestures while he appeared to be completely at ease.
"Pleasure is ours. Thank you for inviting us." The man at the front said calmly, his gaze sharp and dangerous as he looked around the storage room.
"Inviting? We invited you all?" freёweɓnovel.com
"Yeah, I did, Jacob." A voice answered Jacob’s doubts from the behind.
The same cat-eyed vixen smiled widely as she walked towards the group of 5, her hips swaying silently with each move in a hypnotic manner.
"Didn’t you say that anyone who invites an awakener to the group gets the absolute safety?" The woman explained with a grin, "Then since I invited 3, what am I going to get?"
"You could’ve at least told me that you’re inviting so many..." Jacob’s eyelids twitched looking at the damn infuriating cat-like beauty.
"Ah, I didn’t know that we were being a nuisance." A honeyed, charming voice cut through Jacob’s irritation like butter.
The speaker was the blonde beauty with a handgun in her hand.
It was as if the entire group of newcomers along with the cat-like vixen were teaming up to bully the poor Jacob.
"Are we being a nuisance?" The man with Uzi asked calmly, but his voice had a strange edge to it that obviously anyone could pick up on.
"Of course not." Jacob answered with a light chuckle, "I was just surprised to see you all. That’s it. I heard that 3 of you are awakeners? That’s so awesome! I am an awakener as well." He offered his hand, looking forward to activating his skill once again.
He was really hoping that the requirements would be easier this time around. He needed actual fighting skills instead of a broken cheat that requires infinite prep time.
But the man in front of him simply looked at the extended hand and didn’t bother to shake it.
"Awakener, huh? Level and rarity?" The man asked a question instead.
’Okay, my dear sinful teammate, I kissed Andrea earlier and that’s a fucking lustful thing. Give me a quick rundown about these levels, awakening and rarity bullshit.’ Fredrinn wanted no more excuses.
He was tired of getting shrouded in mysteries that remained unsolved.
Even in Apolasia there were several things that he was unable to unravel, but since his focus was on returning to Earth, he found peace with it.
But now, he was buried under more questions than ever.
[ <LUST> laughs and agrees. ]
[ <LUST> explains that the host’s intuitions were correct. The awakening refers to awakening of the mana channels within a human body.
However to make things simpler, the learning curve of magic has been simplified significantly. Now the awakeners can gain magical skills that only require mana to be used.
The skills gained come in a multitude of strengths and are categorized under the rarities. Pretty self explanatory.
Common < Rare < Epic < Legendary < Mythic
There are special rarities that are outside the ranking, such as Unranked and Unique. They do not follow any strict hierarchy and can either be very good or bad. ]
Fredrinn listened to the Lust’s lecture in his mind while also concentrating on the interaction between Jacob and the mysterious man.
"Myself Jacob. Rarity’s rare and level 5." Jacob replied to the man’s question calmly.
If he was mad about getting his handshake ignored, he surely didn’t show it.
"Rare 5?" The man chortled, as if he had just heard something funny. "Still only at level 5? Wow, you should quit this leadership bullcrap and focus on the grind, my guy."
Jacob controlled his emotions expertly.
"Ah, I see. If you don’t mind me asking, then what’s yours?"
"Epic, level 14." The man replied arrogantly.
’Alright, I get the rarities, but what are the levels?’ Fredrinn asked in his mind, questioning Lust.
[ <LUST> feels bored about explaining the basics. ]
’Stop pouting and drop the information already. We had a deal.’
[ <LUST> scoffs that if it wants, it can break the deal. ]
’So you’re going to go back on your words? I thought sins had pride.’
[ <LUST> laughs and says, sins don’t have pride, young boy. There is a sin called Pride. Be glad he’s not awake yet. ]
’...’
A beat passed, before the hologram visibly sighed in front of Fredrinn’s eyes and a voice began to explain the answer to the question he had been asking.
[ <LUST> explains that a level is like the time that the host had spent doing mana cultivation.
Mana cultivation helps strengthen and boost the mana recovery, physical prowess and the mana tank. Levels do the same, but faster.
Levels are gained by the humans when completing the general quests and killing the zombies. ]
’Wow... literally kill zombies to grow stronger... why the fuck did I have to meditate in the fucking mountains just for a tiny growth then...’
Fredrinn closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying his hardest not to burst out in rage.
’Fine, then what level would I be at according to these people?’
[ <LUST> estimates that the host must be around level 60-70. ]
