Chapter 2: In The Apocalyptic Earth...

Fredrinn was currently going insane with the crazy situation he had just found himself in.

What was going on?

Why was he not back on Earth?

The spell was supposed to work. It was supposed to bring him back to his family that he dearly missed. To the world he originally belonged to.

But then... what was this... carnage?

Why were the jets bombing the grounds? What were these monsters that were clawing at other human corpses? And why were those corpses standing back up in a minute to continue the same cycle?

This was no Earth... This was madness.

And to make matters worse, Fredrinn was currently suffering from mana overload, a condition that affected wizards who overuse their mana and end up burning up their lifeforce to cast their spells.

It made them unable to cast spells for a long time since the circuits needed time to heal.

Suddenly, a zombie across from him sensed Fredrinn with its pupil-less dead eyes.

It appeared as though the zombie was blind, but yet Fredrinn felt that the monster could actually see him.

Without wasting time on his useless thoughts, Fredrinn’s fight or flight instincts took over, honed by his life as a magic swordsman in the magical world of Apolasia.

But he had no mana to flaunt his superior strength right now. All he had was a run-down revolver that was his family heirloom that he had stolen to repay his debts long ago.

Though he ended up falling into Apolasia instead with the gun, which he hid desperately and didn’t let anyone find out that he was actually an otherworlder.

Since Apolasia abhorred the otherworlders, claiming that they were nothing less than leeches who suck up their planet’s resources despite having no right to do so.

Technically they were right, but Fredrinn hadn’t given them any invitation to pull him to their world either.

He quickly rolled the barrel and checked the remaining bullets.

Only three were left out of the original five, as one was used to slay his first magical beast and one was used to win his ticket back to Earth.

’A gunshot would end up inviting useless trouble.’ Fredrinn figured out, choosing to dash away rather than fight that weird undead bastard.

Since the zombies were slower under the sun, there was nothing that the poor hungry beast could do other than watch its prey bolt in another direction towards a beach.

Fredrinn had finally shaken off the slow zombie, looking at the sun and seeing that it was still in the middle of the sky, so it probably won’t set for another couple hours.

He desperately needed to find other humans and learn what in the hell was going on.

Having that in mind, Fredrinn ran.

No destination, no aim, no overthinking... he just ran. His magical shoes stomped over the sand, not sinking into it as if he was running on concrete rather than the sand.

But even after looking for several minutes, he was unable to find any humans except from the overhead jets that were still dropping bombs in the more ’populated’ area of the city like madmen.

So he realized that this could mean only two things.

One, that all the humans here were dead and turned into zombies.

Or two, that he actually needs to use his brain instead of running around aimlessly and gloating at the slower zombies who couldn’t catch him at all.

The option two sounded more logical and easier to accept as Fredrinn tried his hardest to remember his memories about Earth.

After living for hundreds of years on Apolasia, it was hard to remember much, but he did remember the basics.

There were hospitals that were used to treat the humans when they got sick or ill as there was no magic on Earth.

There were several stores known as supermarkets that held several types of canned foods, some common appliances and basic amenities.

And around him, the tall burning structures were apparently called buildings and were of several types.

How many types? He forgot, but he did remember that some of these had humans living inside them.

Well... all buildings had humans, but the ones in some buildings used it as a home rather than a workplace, since it was more ’space and cost’ efficient.

So after remembering some basics, Fredrinn was hit by the memory of an object that had stopped working and died in Apolasia, but would be very important here.

The mobile phone.

It had many uses, but the most important was communication.

Fredrinn casually cracked his neck after arranging his thoughts much better as he looked at the gentle waves that were washing away the blood on the beach as the zombies very slowly staggered around in search for more food with the least amount of effort on their part.

He had figured what to do first.

Find a mobile phone.

Especially one with a high amount of charge, since he had ptsd from the battery percentage, and was also unlocked since he had no way of learning the passcode from a literal zombie.

He unsheathed his chipped blade he had carried over from Apolasia. The metal had definitely taken a beating due to his duel, but it would do for now. freewebnøvel.coɱ

It was enough to kill a few zombies, at least.

"I hope I find an apple phone... I remember those were good." He said more to himself than anyone in particular while a couple zombies ended up noticing him walking towards them.

If they had a tiny bit of brain left in their brain, they would have tried to think why would a human come to them out of his own violation, but alas... they were as mindless as possible.

So they charged at him in their snail pace, which was almost humiliating for Fredrinn as he was going to cut down such harmless beings.

One slash... That was all it took for Fredrinn to dispatch of a zombie by slicing down its neck while the other was kicked off and stabbed right in the skull.

As for the last one, it had ended up tumbling down on its own due to some rubble falling in its way.

So all Fredrinn had to do was stab its skull to end its misery.

He then cleaned his blade using a spare cloth from the zombie’s corpse while checking their pockets like he couldn’t care less about their rotting odour or the weirdness of his actions.

After all... he had survived worse.
