Chapter 613: Chapter 473: Lafra’s Conjecture about the Landlady
"Hmm?" Lafra blinked her eyes, seemingly catching a whiff of an out-of-the-ordinary scent, and judging by Betty’s and Chen Ze’s expressions, Lafra was certain that Chen Ze must have secretly been up to something without her knowledge.
Chen Ze was also somewhat panic-stricken, although he did not know what Betty had been about to say, he could not simply do nothing, and by attempting to prevent her, he realized he might have inadvertently drawn more attention to the matter.
"Dear, I’m hungry~" What surprised Chen Ze, however, was that Lafra did not come over to inquire about anything, but instead walked over smiling and took his hand.
".." Chen Ze was a bit stunned, as common sense would suggest that Lafra ought to have asked him what he was hiding, or at least queried Betty, but instead...
"Hehe, dear, you must have your reasons for keeping secrets from me, so I won’t ask~" Lafra’s smile was bright and her eyes looked beautiful.
"Yeah." Chen Ze nodded happily and then entered the kitchen to start preparing some food for Lafra.
In fact, there weren’t any hard and fast rules to follow, Chen Ze still planned to make a transcendent curry pork chop rice, and serve it along with some other dishes, only today he felt particularly pleased while cooking.
"Dear." Lafra stood by his side, curiously watching Chen Ze cook.
"What’s up?" Chen Ze flipped the pan, puzzled why it always felt as though he and Lafra lacked the vibe of a couple deeply in love, and instead seemed to have skipped straight past the dating phase and onto what felt like married life.
"I’ve learned a few more cocktail-making techniques~ I can help you out from now on, and you’ll be the boss, while I’ll be the lady boss!" Lafra giggled happily, pride beaming from her face as she pulled out a Magic Crystal from her bosom and flaunted it at Chen Ze.
"Eh? That’s great, so all the drinks in our restaurant will be in your care from now on." Chen Ze wiped his hands as he looked at the sizzling pork chops, then pinched Lafra’s cheek.
"Sure, we’ll open a restaurant together in the future." Lafra propped up her chin, smiling sweetly at Chen Ze.
"Manager sir, I’ve come to deliver some things." Just as Chen Ze was about to say something, the door was pushed open, and then Alisa’s voice came through.
"Alisa, long time no see, please have a seat." Betty cheered as she ran over and hugged Alisa.
"Betty, it’s been a while. I’ve been busy helping Lady Lafra find the wines she needs, so it took a bit of time." Alisa smiled as she sat down, having been very busy but fulfilled during this period.
"Did you get all the wines I wanted?" Lafra came out and looked at Alisa calmly.
Even though Alisa had interrupted her alone time with Chen Ze, Lafra wasn’t too angry, after all, she was going to be a lady boss soon, so she supposed such interruptions would not be rare.
"I’ve got them, Lady Lafra." Alisa immediately stood up and respectfully took out a ring, handing it to Lafra.
"Hmm, you’ve worked hard." Lafra took it, sensed its content, and nodded with satisfaction, finding all the requested wines to be present and correct in quality.
"Thank you, Lady Lafra, for giving me this opportunity." Alisa looked at Lafra respectfully, realizing what a great opportunity it was to do business and for her to source the wines for Lafra.
After all, not every company had the chance to collaborate with top-tier entities from negative planes, and to receive their magic insignias was to indicate that Alisa’s company was under Lafra’s protection.
Those previously unapproachable company presidents and kings now treated Alisa with a warm reception and offered her company great conveniences. Alisa was well aware that this was not due to her family’s fame, but because of Lafra’s influence.
Respect and courtesy are for the living strong, not for someone who’s dead and without any influence.
"It’s nothing." Lafra waved her hand indifferently and then happily headed into the kitchen with the ring.
"Lady Lafra’s adorable moments are always in front of Mr. Manager." Alisa sat back down.
"Mm." Betty nodded, then looked somewhat absentmindedly towards the kitchen.
"Betty, here’s your bonus." Alisa pulled out a pouch from the ring on her hand and handed it to Betty.
"Wow, this many Gold Coins?" Betty exclaimed with surprise as she looked at the heavy pouch, which clearly contained a substantial amount.
"Yep, thanks to Lady Lafra, your fast-food business has been growing more and more rapidly," Alisa said as she picked up the lemon water from the table, took a sip, and nodded in satisfaction.
"Hehe, then I can~" Betty gazed at the pouch in front of her, smiling proudly. With the money she had saved up before, she could now afford a Starry Sky Cake.
"Manager!" Betty sat down next to Alisa, beaming with pride. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
"Betty, what’s this about..." Alisa looked at Betty, a bit confounded, wondering if something was wrong with her good friend’s brain.
"What’s up?" Chen Ze came out, looking bewildered at Betty. What was she planning to do, and why was Betty casually sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed?
"Hehe, Mr. Manager, I am a customer, and I’d like to order a Starry Sky Cake. Bring me one quickly," Betty requested with crossed legs, almost as if she was about to sing a cheerful tune.
"...." Chen Ze’s mouth twitched, Betty was really...
"??" Alisa was also looking blankly at Betty, wondering if she hadn’t woken up properly from last night’s sleep and was still out of it.
"Alright, a Starry Sky Cake it is, then? Wait a sec," Chen Ze rolled his eyes, barely suppressing the urge to hammer Betty on the head.
"Alisa, what about you? What would you like to eat?" Chen Ze asked Alisa, since she was the real customer here.
"Ah... I’ll just have the Manager’s special for today," Alisa turned her head blankly, mulling over what she wanted to eat today.
"Okay, please wait a moment," Chen Ze glanced at Betty, who was smirking triumphantly, then walked into the kitchen. He had to make a Starry Sky Cake for Betty anyway. After Betty finished eating, Chen Ze would slowly settle the account with her.
"Betty, are you sure you’re okay doing this?" Alisa asked with concern.
"Hehe, don’t worry, it’s definitely fine. And don’t you think this is very exciting?" Betty rubbed her hands together gleefully, having been at the restaurant for so long, she could finally be a customer for once.
"Well... if you’re happy, that’s what matters," Alisa said sympathetically, recalling the not-so-friendly look in the Manager’s eyes.
