Chapter 551: Chapter Four Hundred Eleven: Elegant Way of Eating
"Oh? Which of my works have you read?" Moriarty smiled as he looked at the beautiful Vermouth before him. She was quite attractive, certainly in the top tier of women he had seen.
"Naturally, it was Professor Moriarty’s ’Asteroid Mechanics’." Vermouth held her glass and glanced at the chair.
"Would you mind if I sat down and talked with you?" Vermouth was still graceful. It had to be said that as a member of the distillery staff, Vermouth could be quite tricky when dealing with Conan, but she was quite reliable most of the time.
"Of course not, beautiful lady. Although ’Asteroid Mechanics’ is my hallmark, I would recommend my other works as well, such as ’The Analysis of Mechanics and the Discussion of Gravity.’ It’s a fine read too." Moriarty stood up, pulled out a chair for Vermouth, and only after she sat down did he return to his own seat.
"Is that so? Since it’s a work recommended by Professor Moriarty, I will certainly take a look when I get back." The expression on Vermouth’s face was perfect, a mix of confusion and full of yearning.
"I believe you will be very satisfied." Moriarty nodded and then picked up a cup to pour Vermouth some black tea. freewёbnoνel.com
"Try this, the iced black tea brewed by the restaurant owner. Despite its odd name, it tastes quite good." Moriarty pushed the iced black tea towards her.
"Okay." Vermouth graciously put down her own cup, then elegantly held the tea and took a sip.
Moriarty watched Vermouth quietly, in thought.
"Professor Moriarty, here are your Dai-flavor lemon chicken feet... Enjoy." Chen Ze came over, put a large plate of lemon chicken feet on the table, gave Vermouth a curious look, and then went back.
Even though Chen Ze found it strange that Vermouth had come to Moriarty and had taken a seat, he decided not to interfere. In fact, unless it was a matter of principle, Chen Ze didn’t get involved in the customers’ business.
Watching the congenial conversation between Vermouth and Moriarty, Rum slowly savored her dreamy chocolate cake. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
The cake had an aroma of alcohol but still tasted very good. At least Rum liked it very much.
Moriarty? It probably wasn’t just a coincidence, and through Vermouth’s words, ’Asteroid Mechanics’ was indeed a work by this Moriarty. Therefore, the person should be that major antagonist from a fictional novel world.
"Interesting." Rum chuckled, tapping her fingers on the tabletop.
It wasn’t Morse code—Rum didn’t think the other party would fail to understand the use of Morse code.
However, Rum had more advanced means at her disposal, namely a listening device, which allowed her to hear the conversation between Vermouth and Moriarty clearly.
"Professor Moriarty, you are indeed a learned man. Foggy London... it makes me want to see it too. Life in London seems like a very interesting affair." Vermouth giggled, her voice was distinctly feminine, precisely the kind that easily stirred up a man’s protective instinct.
"London is not a suitable place to live, at least I despise their fish and chips," Moriarty chuckled as he poured another cup of iced black tea for Vermouth.
"Eh? British food seems to be like that. But since Mr. Moriarty knows about this restaurant, you must also come to enjoy the delicious cuisine here," Vermouth said enticingly.
In fact, what Vermouth said was in English, but Chen Ze had previously asked Stan to set up Arcane Wisdom as a wide-area Magic Circle, so no matter the guests, they could all communicate with each other.
"Yes, beautiful lady, if there is a chance next time, I would be delighted to show you around London," Moriarty said as he took a sip of iced tea. Mmm, it really tasted good.
"Okay, then I will visit again in the future, see you next time, respected Professor Moriarty," Vermouth discerned Moriarty’s intention, raised her Lai Mei, nodded to Moriarty, and left.
Moriarty smiled happily, this woman in black, quite interesting.
Only, the plate of chicken feet in front of him...
Moriarty picked up the plastic gloves lying beside him; he had never seen these before, but he could tell they functioned as gloves, and given that Chen Ze had deliberately omitted utensils, the way to eat this dish was quite clear.
Moriarty picked up a chicken foot and gently bit into it.
The sour and spicy flavor was the first thing he noticed, followed by the unique texture of the chicken feet, and then a hint of sweetness, which allowed Moriarty to quickly finish an entire chicken foot.
"A great snack, though not very elegant to eat," Moriarty shrugged. He remembered having similar thoughts during his own parties, when some of the newer nobles insisted on eating in an extraordinarily awkward manner.
They called it a display of noble temperament, but Moriarty thought they were just foolish, focusing on formality, elegantly using a knife and fork to eat even a banana, evidently misunderstanding the concept of elegance.
"Boss," Vermouth nodded to Rum.
"Hmm, I know, so let’s leave the meal price and be off," Rum turned to look at the restaurant. The decor wasn’t very elegant, but the taste was truly quite good.
"Okay," Vodka nodded and then picked up two cases lying next to him, placing them on the table.
"Manager, this is our meal payment, we’ll see you again next time," Rum looked in the direction of the kitchen, calling out in a moderate tone.
"Alright, we welcome you to come again next time," Chen Ze popped his head out of the kitchen, then withdrew it back in.
He was working on improving Magic crispy rice, thinking there might still be ways to refine it.
"An interesting place," Rum took off his prosthetic eye, wiped it, and then led the silent distillery worker out.
Meanwhile, Moriarty quietly drank his tea and gnawed at chicken feet. Truth be told, Moriarty wasn’t particularly fond of this way of eating; he always found it somewhat barbaric. Yet he couldn’t deny that using hands was indeed the best way to eat chicken feet.
"Professor Moriarty, what do you think?" Chen Ze asked without raising his head.
"A rather good dish, although those guests just now were quite interesting," Moriarty nodded.
"Oh? How so?" Chen Ze’s hands kept working despite the conversation.
"Huff...because that woman just now was probing for information about me," Moriarty exhaled, the dish was a bit spicy.
