Chapter 465: Chapter 325: The Guest with Persecutory Delusions

Life is always full of surprises, and if you don’t want to be killed by all kinds of accidents, then you must be careful, very careful. This belief had always been upheld by Lin Yi.

"I only eat the food I cook myself, sorry," said Lin Yi with a poker face, seriously declining the invitation from his beautiful colleague to eat together. He received an eye roll from her, but he did not care.

The beautiful colleague turned her head to glare at him and mumbled something under her breath.

"Hey, young man, please wait for me!" In the elevator, looking at the old man hurrying over, Lin Yi hesitated for a moment, then waited for the old man to rush in and immediately rolled out on the spot. He stood far away, under the old man’s astonished gaze.

The old man looked at him strangely, shook his head, and before the elevator doors closed, he also had a word to say.

"Nutcase."

Lin Yi’s heart remained unmoved, and he even felt like laughing. In his view, as long as he was still alive, that was all that mattered. Who knew whether that old man was a disguised fugitive?

Lin Yi knew very well; the world was full of sick people. There were so many who would start a fight over nothing on the streets, not to mention those with mental illnesses, who might stab you and possibly not even be held accountable. So, Lin Yi thought it best to keep his distance from other people.

Even going to work, Lin Yi would choose to come early or take the stairs, even if his company was on the thirty-third floor. He would still opt for the stairs, refusing to ride the elevator with others.

"Survived another day, but it might rain in the coming days. There could be flooding, so I think I should buy some canned food and compressed biscuits online," Lin Yi stretched his arms and said, his desk at the very corner of the office by his own request. His colleagues had come to know him as a quirky, unsociable guy.

But Lin Yi did not mind; he only cared about himself. He just wanted to live a stable life, to live until he dies of old age. For this reason, he had been buying insurance every year and had saved a large amount of money, just in case.

Lin Yi stood in the office, looking at the bustling crowd by the elevator. Without any hesitation, he pushed open the emergency door. Today, he still planned to take the stairs down. What if the elevator malfunctioned when a bunch of people were riding it later?

Lin Yi descended the stairs calmly, already thinking about what to buy later. When he got home, he could further reinforce his room, ensuring that he would survive any potential major crisis.

The dim stairwell was not easy to navigate, especially the section from the third to the fifth floor, where the doors were sealed off. This floor was rented by a beauty clinic. As for why they would act like they had something to hide, Lin Yi didn’t care, and he didn’t need cosmetic services either.

Lin Yi walked patiently, finally reaching the fourth floor. There were lights here, but it was rarely frequented by people, usually just the security guards coming down from the top floor at noon and in the afternoon for inspection.

Suddenly, Lin Yi felt as if something punched him from inside his waist, and it kept spasming. Then, his heart began to beat violently; he struggled to breathe and felt panic. Out of the blue, Lin Yi knew he might die.

"Heart attack?" The thought flashed through Lin Yi’s mind. After all, only a heart attack could easily bring down a young person, leaving no way out.

Lin Yi clutched his chest in agony, lying on the ground, and then took out a bottle of Quick-acting Heart-Saving Pills from his chest. He had prepared for this as the heart disease was now steadily spreading among younger people.

After taking the Quick-acting Heart-Saving Pills, Lin Yi felt no improvement; rather, his body slowly stopped obeying his commands, and a sense of despair washed over him. He was reluctant to accept his fate, having taken most of the necessary precautions. It seemed that getting a health check once a month would have been better. However, Lin Yi didn’t know if he would have another chance.

In this forsaken place, few people ever came, and now Lin Yi couldn’t even shout for help. He could barely walk a few steps.

"What’s this?" Lin Yi looked around in astonishment. Where there had been a concrete wall, a wooden door had appeared. Mustering the last of his strength, he pushed the door open and collapsed inside. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"Welcome to Imon Restau... huh, huh, huh? Manager, come quickly!" Betty’s panicked voice roused Chen Ze from his contemplation, just as he was perusing the menu, almost causing him to drop his phone to the floor.

"What’s up?" Chen Ze walked out, and then immediately saw Lin Yi lying unconscious on the ground.

"What’s the situation here? Did he get too excited seeing you?" Chen Ze frowned, scanning the man’s body with the Magic Circle. He then felt that the man’s life force was rapidly dissipating.

"How could it be related to me? He turned out like this before I even got here." Betty pouted, slightly discontented. She refused to take the blame for this.

"No idea what’s up with these customers, but we’ve got to save him, or he’ll really die soon." Chen Ze wasn’t too worried; he had plenty of life-saving things at his disposal. But since he didn’t know what was wrong with the guy, Chen Ze chose to try the Life Potion that the flying squirrel had given him.

Chen Ze pried open Lin Yi’s mouth and poured the red Life Potion into him, all the while monitoring with the Magic Circle. He then noticed that once the potion entered his system, it quickly gathered around his heart and organs, writhing in a way that was very inappropriate for children.

It wasn’t that the potion was doing anything indecent, but the sight could make one feel sick, so Chen Ze decisively stopped using the Magic Circle to continue the monitoring and, instead, with Betty’s help, lifted Lin Yi onto a chair, letting him lay over the table.

Chen Ze listened carefully; good, there was still breathing, and the breaths were becoming steadier. It seemed like there wouldn’t be any problems.

"When he wakes up, ask if he is alright. I’m going back to look at the menu," Chen Ze told Betty and then returned to the kitchen. He planned to study the menu further to prepare more dishes and to explore the potential collision between otherworldly ingredients and modern cooking methods.

"Speaking of which, I have a green vegetable that seems pretty good. It tastes tender and fresh..." Chen Ze smacked his lips. He took a handful of vegetables from the stone storage, their tender green appearance very appealing.

This vegetable, according to what Alisa said, was called Bird’s Beard, and no one knew who this Bird was, but Bird’s Beard tasted delicious, similar to pea tips.

"Where am I?" Lin Yi opened his eyes and saw Betty with wings on her back as the first thing in his line of sight.

"Hell..." Lin Yi felt dejected.

"Hey, hey, hey! Just because you see a Succubus doesn’t mean you’re in Hell!"
