Chapter 463: Chapter 323: What Can Top-Grade Wagyu Beef Be Used For?
Chen Ze stood in the kitchen, intently making paper-wrapped fried chicken. Although it wasn’t his first time doing so, he felt the need to be cautious. If the paper-wrapped fried chicken turned out to be less than perfect, it would be quite troublesome.
"This paper-wrapped fried chicken should be alright overall, but maybe it would be even better if I handled it this way?" Chen Ze pondered. In fact, the way Chen Ze was preparing the paper-wrapped chicken was somewhat reminiscent of beggar’s chicken, including poking a hole near the chicken’s rear end, removing all the innards, and then cleaning the inside cavity.
However, this did not mean that this method was the best choice for every kind of chicken, as you can’t expect to make a lemon chicken with the cooking method used for Kung Pao chicken. That would be inappropriate.
But Chen Ze was not in a hurry to experiment with his new idea since he was cooking for Gin and the others; he did not intend to use the guests to test out dishes, or at least not often.
So, Chen Ze decided to make the fried chicken the same way he had before, estimating the result would likely be perfect. Yet, Chen Ze had a nagging feeling that perfect might not be the highest praise from the System, even though he hadn’t produced any dish that exceeded a perfect score before.
"Betty, come in and serve the dishes," Chen Ze said while watching the fryer. The paper-wrapped fried chicken was still frying and needed a bit more time, but the other dishes were ready. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"Alright, Boss," Betty walked in, not noticing Gin’s glance at her.
This time, Gin had specifically recorded Betty with a camera to confirm what he had said before, but there was nothing worthwhile to record afterward.
After some hesitation, Gin still picked up a spoon and held it in front of his chest, facing the camera’s direction, then tried to bend it slightly as his way of offering proof. Because the organization wouldn’t easily believe someone based on a single video, especially since the restaurant indeed seemed a bit magical, Gin needed more evidence.
Gin tried to bend the spoon, but it didn’t give. It was as firm as ever. Raising his eyebrows, he applied more force, enough to bend a steel pipe, yet the spoon remained unyielding.
Silently, Gin placed the spoon on the ground and wedged his watch in the middle of it to serve as a fulcrum. Then pressing down on both ends of the spoon with his feet, he exerted force.
"Big Brother, what’s wrong with you?" Vodka watched his older brother with confusion, not understanding why he’d suddenly started sweating and his face turned red. The restaurant didn’t seem hot at all.
"...It’s nothing," Gin wiped the sweat from his forehead, picked up the spoon, and weighed it in his hand. It wasn’t heavy, weighing no more than a normal spoon, but for some reason, this spoon was exceptionally sturdy. Despite his immense effort, Gin could not make the damned spoon bend even slightly.
"Never mind, I can take it back with me." Gin pocketed the spoon, feeling justified. Such a hard spoon would probably suffice as proof for the organization.
"Our esteemed guests, thank you for waiting." Betty delivered the dishes and set them on Gin’s table, then stepped aside, patiently awaiting further instructions. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"Ah, the familiar taste..." not prepared to wait, Vodka eagerly grabbed his chopsticks, ravenously attacking his dish. Having just eaten a mango mousse, he felt as if the dessert had opened up his appetite.
"Hm," Gin also seemed satisfied. It would be nice if the organization could bring this place into their sphere of influence, he thought. Then maybe he could eat her regularly in the future.
After trying Chen Ze’s cooking, returning to other foods always seemed odd, as if his stomach were rejecting them.
"It seems my stomach has gotten used to this place," Gin thought quietly to himself, relieved he didn’t say it out loud, otherwise Betty would definitely take him for a ’drive’ and roll over his face with a car wheel.
"What? Your stomach has turned into the shape of the manager?" Betty would probably say something like that.
Chen Ze stood in the kitchen, intently watching the oil temperature. The paper-wrapped fried chicken had specific requirements for frying; overdoing it or undercooking could affect the final quality, so Chen Ze usually paid close attention during the frying process.
Even though it seemed a bit silly, Chen Ze thought it wasn’t too bad.
"Betty, come in and serve the dishes," Chen Ze called as he lifted two paper-wrapped fried chickens out with a strainer and placed them on two plates. Now they were ready.
Vodka stared at the greasy paper ball in front of him, slightly stunned. He really hadn’t eaten this thing before.
"Big brother?" Vodka hesitated, glancing at Gin. He had never eaten this thing.
"Use a knife," Gin said, although he had never eaten it either, but he could tell that the thing outside probably wasn’t meant to be eaten, while the contents inside were.
As he cut open the paper, the first thing he saw was the shiny chicken skin, and the rich aroma continued to assault Gin’s sense of smell, making him feel an irresistible craving.
Gin quickly sliced open the chicken skin with his knife. He was also skilled with a blade, although he later used a gun more often. Then Gin stuffed a piece of chicken into his mouth, chewed once, and nodded with satisfaction. The fried chicken tasted really good, even giving a sensation of wanting more with each bite. Moreover, the fullness of the meat and the subtle sweet-and-sour taste with each mouthful were irresistible.
"Big brother! This fried chicken is really delicious!" Vodka licked his lips, then went straight to eating it, tearing off a chicken leg and biting into it with big bites.
"Be careful," Gin was dissatisfied, as he was still recording, and it probably wouldn’t be good for the organization to see this scene later on.
Even though Gin said that, he ate quickly too but hadn’t used his hands, continuing to pick up the delicious chicken with chopsticks instead.
"Manager, let’s settle the bill," the fried chicken was actually quite large, but the two of them ate so fast that soon there was nothing left but the paper; the fried chicken was all gone.
"Alright, what’s this?" Chen Ze had just come out when he saw Gin placing a bag on the table. This was a good sign; at least Gin didn’t point a gun at him directly like last time.
"Top-grade Wagyu beef, I thought the manager might like it," Gin said with a smile.
"Hmm... it’s alright, the payment is acceptable, but next time it would be better to bring something else," Chen Ze was a bit conflicted. He didn’t find it too tough to buy top-grade Wagyu beef nowadays.
But then again, maybe he could use it for grilling?
