Chapter 447: Chapter 307: The Taste of Swamp Eel
Swamp Eel, that’s what Chen Ze found the name to be, and it’s categorized as an ingredient used by Gourmet Hunters. Moreover, its Capture Level is higher than that of the Nut Swordfish.
"But this Capture Level doesn’t really explain anything. I remember some ingredients with high Capture Levels taste just average," Chen Ze twisted his neck and then squatted down to start preparing the grilled eel.
"Huh?" Chen Ze was taken aback, as he suddenly realized something was off.
"I remember... whenever there are customers from another world in the restaurant, there’s no internet connection." Chen Ze stroked his chin, then took out his phone to check. Indeed, there was no network.
That being said, the customer still in the basement must have come from another world.
"But it might also be due to that grey ghostly shadow," Chen Ze shook his head, then took out a piece of Swamp Eel meat, sliced it, and placed it on the grill.
Swamp Eel, while being an exceptionally large eel, is fundamentally still an eel. Once it starts cooking, the distinctive eel fragrance emerges.
Chen Ze flipped the eel meat on the grill. With a light pinch of his chopsticks, the meat indented, but as soon as he released it, the meat sprang back.
"Smells really nice..." Chen Ze sniffed the air, filled with a very pleasant fragrance.
Once the eel was cooked, Chen Ze eagerly brushed on some grilled eel sauce and then cut a piece to taste.
Gently biting into it, his mouth was filled with the savory taste of the meat, complemented by the unique richness of the Swamp Eel’s fats, ungreasy, yet satisfyingly indulgent.
"Ah~ The taste is exquisite, I wonder how a dish of eel rice made with this Swamp Eel would come out?" Chen Ze was very pleased, then trimmed the tasted part, using the remaining meat to make a plate of eel rice.
[You’ve made a fine eel rice dish, Japanese Cuisine crafting experience increased by 10 points]
Chen Ze furrowed his brows, this evaluation seemed a bit off from his expectations. After all, he felt it should have received a perfect rating.
Especially since the taste of the Swamp Eel was too good, utterly surpassing ordinary eels by an entire dimension, not even on the same level.
"The rice is not the problem, I used the best rice, and there’s no issue in how I cooked it, so the issue must be with the sauce." Chen Ze stroked his chin, feeling this possibility very likely; after all, in eel rice, the sauce is a crucial ingredient.
Even though Chen Ze bought the best eel sauce he could find, it’s still a commercial product, different from the special seasonings used in eel rice restaurants.
Moreover, this is Swamp Eel, not the same as ordinary eel. Using a common eel sauce to prepare Swamp Eel is like using a previous dynasty’s sword to behead a current dynasty’s official.
"Looks like I have to speak with Joichiro Yukihira tomorrow, ask him about the sauce for eel rice." Chen Ze was relieved he’d met Joichiro Yukihira; otherwise, he wouldn’t even know where to learn these things.
"Master! I’m here!" The door was pushed open, and the Wind Chime’s sound brought with it Naruto’s energetic voice.
"Oh oh, Naruto, you’re here?" Chen Ze smiled and peeked out, then surprisingly found that Naruto seemed to have grown taller.
At least, there was a huge difference compared to when he first came in.
"Hehe, Master, is Master Lafra here?" Naruto poked his head around, his actions making Chen Ze want to laugh.
"Lafra isn’t here, if you have something you can talk to me about it. Do you want to sit down and have something to eat?" Chen Ze pointed at a chair, planning to let Naruto taste his special eel rice dish.
"Master, look!" Naruto said upon realizing Lafra wasn’t there, feeling a bit disappointed, but he quickly became excited again.
Betty walked over and poured Naruto a glass of ice-cold lemonade, extra sweet, which was his favorite flavor.
"Thanks, Sister Betty, Multiple Shadow Clone Technique!" Naruto formed hand seals and suddenly, many Narutos appeared in the restaurant.
"Wow, not bad at all, did you learn this?" Chen Ze knowingly asked. It seemed that the plot was still moving forward, but he didn’t know whether Naruto’s destiny had changed or not.
But at least for now, Naruto had learned this ninjutsu, which was one of the techniques he used frequently.
The first, of course, was the Rasengan, when in doubt, just whip out a Rasengan—that was Naruto’s signature move.
"Hehe~ Yep, Master, let me tell you..." Naruto immediately started storytime mode, but Chen Ze listened attentively.
The story was simple, though he had mastered magic, Naruto was still despised by the villagers, but he didn’t care and instead practiced diligently, working on his ninjutsu and then on his magic.
"But one day when I was sleeping, I heard people fighting outside the house, maybe the public security is just bad," Naruto added.
Chen Ze twitched the corner of his mouth, damn public security issues, you’re the Jinchuriki, and now that you’ve learned magic, your importance in Hiruzen Sarutobi’s heart is only increasing.
Chen Ze figured it was probably the Akatsuki up to something, but they were stopped by the Anbu. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Yet, Naruto’s fate seemed to be toyed with by invisible hands, ultimately leading him to be provoked by Mizuki to steal the Forbidden Jutsu Scroll.
Then there was the part where Hiruzen Sarutobi behaved like even an idiot could be Hokage, with the grand Hokage Tower having no guards, allowing Naruto to easily sneak in and take the Forbidden Jutsu Scroll.
Looking at Naruto’s face, which was practically begging for praise, Chen Ze gave some insincere compliments to satisfy the kid’s proud heart.
"How are you getting along with your tenant?" Chen Ze went back to the kitchen, planning to make Naruto a dish of eel rice, accompanied by a glass of big-can milk.
"Eh? Master, you mean the big fox? We get along really well, oh, Master, can I have some cola?" Naruto suddenly asked.
"Cola? Of course, you can have it. Do you want to drink it?" Chen Ze was a bit surprised since Naruto rarely drank cola, saying he didn’t like the feeling.
"Nah, it’s the big fox that wants to drink it," Naruto straightforwardly replied.
Chen Ze used the Magic Circle to take a peek at Naruto’s belly, and sure enough, the Nine-Tails was holding its face in distress.
It seemed that the Nine-Tails had tried to teach Naruto how to speak at some point, but when it came to himself, Naruto was still blunt.
"No problem, I’ll give you five crates. Just give it one can a day," Chen Ze said without a care, as the Nine-Tails couldn’t cause trouble beyond Lafra’s five-finger mountain.
"Thank you, Master!" Naruto cheered happily.
Chen Ze suddenly remembered something—if Naruto had already learned the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique, didn’t that mean the manga’s story had begun?
