Chapter 430: Chapter Two Hundred Ninety Sweet Love
Although Chen Ze’s nose was harshly whacked by the System, he was still quite satisfied with himself. After all, his improved barbecue had received the System’s approval, and he was even rewarded with a generous amount of experience points, which directly allowed him to unlock a passive effect.
"But what is this magical operation ’enhancing the visual appeal of the plated dish’?" Chen Ze was a bit perplexed. But then he felt a headache coming as a flood of inexplicable memories rushed into his mind.
By the time Chen Ze had snapped out of it, Betty had already served the five portions of barbecue. But now, Chen Ze understood that those memories were actually methods and experiences of plating dishes. He suddenly acquired theoretical knowledge about plating and some rough practical operations.
"Phew... I thought it was going to teach me some mystical plating method, but it turns out it’s still about mastering the basics," Chen Ze rubbed his temples, though the method of transferring this knowledge was a bit rough.
"What is this, hey!" Flemea couldn’t wait to take a bite just as the plate was set down, and then she let out a genuine exclamation of praise.
The barbecue was very delicious, fragrant, tender, and even had a hint of mild sweet and sourness, which made the whole dish less greasy. The more you ate, the more you wanted, and you never got tired of it.
"It’s so delicious, I’ve never had such great barbecue before. Oh my goodness, I feel like I’ll uncontrollably crave to come here every day!" Flemea licked her tongue, then picked up another piece of barbecue and popped it into her mouth.
Even this time, Flemea didn’t bother to maintain her usual form. Betty watched as a Dragon’s head suddenly appeared in the restaurant, gulping down a whole piece of barbecue, before changing back into the stunningly beautiful Flemea.
"Flemea, what are you doing? You almost knocked over the hotpot!" Reinhardt looked at his companion with dissatisfaction. If it wasn’t for his quick reaction, the hotpot would have ended up on Destiny’s head.
It was as if the direction in which the hotpot was about to spill was deliberately aimed at Destiny, as if Flemea had a grudge against him.
But Destiny didn’t notice this. He was intently watching Flemea, apparently planning to interview her about her post-meal thoughts.
"Flemea, how do you find the taste?" Destiny, seeing Flemea finishing her meal, hurriedly asked.
"Didn’t I just say it? This is the best barbecue I’ve ever had, none other," Flemea glared at Destiny, then protectively pushed the barbecue to the other side.
"That’s good... then order five portions for me and Reinhardt too!" Destiny nodded and decided to try it for himself.
Destiny, having personally tasted the barbecue, smiled with satisfaction. In his opinion, this barbecue might not make He Luo forgive him, but at the very least she would enjoy the dish.
And this restaurant, this barbecue, only he, Lawrence, knew about it. Therefore, in Lawrence’s view, as long as he had control over the barbecue, he could eventually use it to bridge the gap with He Luo.
With that thought, Destiny couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
"Manager, this is the payment for the meal this time. Destiny will take care of the cost for his barbecue separately," Flemea said with great contentment after eating more than a dozen servings of barbecue today. freeweɓnøvel.com
Chen Ze looked over and saw a bag on the table. He picked it up and found it was filled with quite a few Moonlight Mushrooms and an Ice Fish. Chen Ze was rather pleased since Moonlight Mushrooms were becoming increasingly rare, and getting a restock of Ice Fish was a nice occurrence.
"This is for my barbecue fee, Manager," Destiny said as he pulled out a bundle of flowers from his embrace, beautiful flowers adorned with some twinkling things.
"This is... my masterpiece, an Alchemy Item. It’s not much use, but it’s very pretty, and you don’t need to water it or anything," Destiny explained quickly, seeing the confused look on Chen Ze, though he himself wasn’t too confident if Chen Ze would accept his gift.
"Okay, thank you," Chen Ze nodded, then took the flowers in hand. He planned to place them in the upstairs bedroom, which should make it quite romantic at night.
After seeing off Flemea and her companions, the restaurant finally had a brief moment of respite. Chen Ze let out a sigh of relief and then started to prepare lunch.
Meanwhile, Destiny, holding a portion of barbecue, was wrestling with whether or not to enter the Spice Alchemy Shop. After all, it would raise eyebrows if someone suddenly showed up with barbecue and insisted you eat it.
"Mr. Lawrence? What are you doing standing at the entrance of my shop?" He Luo asked, appearing behind Lawrence at some point, startling him so much that he almost dropped the barbecue in his hand.
"Haha... Well, I just came to bring you a gift," Lawrence said with an awkward smile, having been distracted and not even noticing He Luo’s approach.
"A gift...?" He Luo saw the bag in Lawrence’s hand, from which a very appealing meat aroma was wafting.
"Pfft~" He Luo couldn’t help but laugh out loud, her laughter so hearty that Lawrence couldn’t help but join in with a silly smile of his own.
"Mr. Lawrence~ you really are a unique individual. This is the first time I’ve received barbecue as a gift, but I really like it," said He Luo, pushing open the door and leading Lawrence inside, which made him beam with joy. It seemed his progress today was going rather well.
"Nyarlathotep, what are you watching?" Hastur curiously asked the companion sitting beside him, who was engrossed in studying Hearthstone.
"I’m watching the budding of love," Nyarlathotep replied with a smile. It had been keeping an eye on Its three followers and had just witnessed Lawrence and He Luo.
"Oh? Love? What an interesting emotion. I remember many people in the world praising that emotion," Hastur remarked, stretching lazily and exposing Its pristine white belly beneath Its shirt. freewēbnoveℓ.com
"Mortals are indeed an intriguing race. By the way, where is that one?" Hastur rubbed Its nose and continued playing Warcraft.
"Seems to have gone investigating something. That world possesses something of great interest to It," Nyarlathotep explained, scrolling through the phone screen, then mimicked all the cards It saw into Its own eyes.
"I feel like eating, want to come with?" Hastur, standing up, asked Nyarlathotep. Hastur had just been unceremoniously kicked from a dungeon for speaking Its mind.
"Sure, I’d like to try the Manager’s cooking as well. I’ll also bring him this original version of Hearthstone," Nyarlathotep agreed, standing up and nodding.
In Nyarlathotep’s hands was a black mist, inside which countless souls screamed and writhed in torment.
