Chapter 403: Chapter 263 Conception and Practice

Little did Chen Ze know, until he did some research, that there were so many materials that could be used to make paper.

However, the vast majority were still made from trees, and while papers made from other materials did exist, they weren’t quite what Chen Ze wanted to experiment with for his paper-wrapped fried chicken.

"What material is this paper for the fried chicken made of?" Chen Ze was somewhat at his wits’ end, having pondered for a good half day and still without a clue.

One thing for sure, it wasn’t any of the papers available on the market; after all, there were so many, and if it were, the many chefs of Huaxia wouldn’t have failed to replicate it.

Chen Ze glanced at Baidu again and then stumbled upon some information that might be of value.

"Is it said to be made of Yuzi?" Chen Ze stroked his chin, thinking that if the paper was made from Yuzi peel, it would make sense.

Yuzi peel always has a very strong distinctive scent, something Chen Ze was aware of, with a faint aroma of Yuzi. If Yuzi was used to make the paper, perhaps it could match the deliciousness of the paper-wrapped fried chicken.

Chen Ze nodded, feeling that this idea might be pretty good; the next step was to figure out how to make paper from Yuzi peel.

Besides, it couldn’t possibly be just Yuzi peel that made the paper, so there must be other materials added, only he didn’t know yet what they were.

Chen Ze then ordered some traditional paper-making tools online, and after that, it was just a matter of waiting for the delivery.

"Speaking of which, I will probably have to deliver food all day tomorrow. My WeChat balance doesn’t seem to amount to much either." Chen Ze took a quick look at his WeChat balance; the more RMB, the better.

"For the food to sell... Gourmet skewers, coupled with Exotic Fragrant Fruit juice, and then serve with grilled beef... That should do it." Chen Ze thought for a while and decided on the food he would prepare tomorrow.

Having decided on what cuisine to make the next day, Chen Ze took out the squid tendrils from his Spatial Bag, needing to quickly prepare them today or else tomorrow’s workload would be too great.

"I have to inform Lafra as well, after all, with Lafra here, I can’t let the delivery guys come in." Chen Ze twisted his neck, beginning to quickly process the squid tendrils.

But Chen Ze quickly realized there was no need to send Lafra out; as long as she stayed upstairs, that would be fine.

"Manager, is there any afternoon tea?" A familiar voice asked, and at the mention of afternoon tea, Chen Ze knew who that customer was. freewebnσvel.cѳm

"Professor, we still don’t serve afternoon tea here," Chen Ze said with a smile as he peeked out and greeted the professor.

"Here’s your lemon water, Professor." Betty came over too and poured a glass of lemon water for Moriarty.

"Manager, you really are stubborn. I thought for sure you’d have afternoon tea ready by now..." Moriarty said with a smile, then patted his pocket.

"Oh right, this is for you." Moriarty took out a book.

Chen Ze caught a glimpse of the English title on the cover; although his English skills weren’t great, he could still make out that the book was titled "A Study in Scarlet."

The author wasn’t one that Chen Ze knew; it was Watson.

"A-ha, Professor, did you really manage to get this for me?" Chen Ze happily accepted the book. It was written by Watson himself, which made it all the more valuable.

When Chen Ze was little, he had read a copy of "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes," albeit a pirated one, but even then, he thoroughly enjoyed it and later bought the official version as an adult.

"I just don’t understand why you like the stories of this comical detective so much." Moriarty was unconcerned, then he reached into his coat and handed Chen Ze another book.

"This is my work; I’ve even signed it for you," Moriarty said calmly.

Chen Ze smiled and accepted it, Asteroid Mechanics, hmm, that’s very professor-like.

"Did the Maid of Orléans not come today?" After seeing Chen Ze accept his work, Moriarty looked around and asked.

"You mean Ronna? She usually comes in the afternoon," Chen Ze replied, putting away the two books, planning to place them in the upstairs bedroom later.

"I see..." Moriarty sat quietly in his chair and took a sip of lemonade.

"Then I’ll have a light cheesecake and add a steak to that," Moriarty seemed to be in the mood for a different staple today.

Chen Ze nodded and then went back to the kitchen; he didn’t make customers deliberately order anything specific.

Light cheesecake, a simple dessert that was no challenge for Chen Ze now.

However, Chen Ze did put in some thought into the steak. He didn’t ask Moriarty how well-done he wanted it, partly because he wasn’t sure if in Moriarty’s time there was the concept of steak doneness, and partly because Chen Ze felt that this was the way to do the Bill beef right.

"The temperature should be just right..." Chen Ze looked at the steak and smelled the meaty fragrance filling the air.

Ever since he acquired a skill that enhanced his control over temperature, Chen Ze’s mastery of heat had been improving.

Chen Ze took out the steak and placed it on a heated iron plate, topped it with a sunny-side-up egg, and then had Betty bring it out.

Using the iron plate to retain the steak’s temperature was basic knowledge, and Chen Ze was confident in presenting the Bill beef’s optimal temperature.

"Mmm... delicious..." Moriarty squinted his eyes, a look of satisfaction on his face.

The steak was tender, easily cut with a knife and fork, but surprisingly chewy when eaten, and the contrast between the crispy exterior and juicy inner meat was striking.

The strange green vegetables Chen Ze placed on the side were also crisp and tasty, which greatly pleased Moriarty.

Soon, Moriarty finished the steak completely, including the cooked egg.

"Manager~ I’m here~" The door opened, and it was Ronna pushing it.

"Ronna, what would you like to eat today?" Betty walked over with a smile and took the woven flowers from Ronna’s hand.

"Ronna, come, sit here with me, I have some things to teach you," Moriarty’s eyes lit up, then he patted the chair beside him.

"This..." Ronna was obviously hesitant.

"There’s delicious cake," Ronna immediately sat down.

Chen Ze’s mouth twitched, it seemed Moriarty really was planning on making Ronna into a formidable person.

Perhaps in the future, she should be called Joan of Arc the First?
