Chapter 336: Chapter One Hundred Ninety-Six: Two Guests

"Ah! It failed again!" Chen Ze felt as if his head had doubled in size. He had tried many different methods on the Dog Ignoring Bun, but nothing seemed to work.

If one repeats a task for a long time and keeps failing, it’s a massive challenge to one’s patience, and Chen Ze felt his patience was running out.

"Maybe I should try using some kind of edible film?" Chen Ze was a bit torn.

He had considered this idea before. As long as it could withstand high temperatures without breaking easily, it should be usable.

With the current industrial-grade edible films, this seemed possible, but there was something odd about a Dog Ignoring Bun made this way.

After all, industrial-grade edible film didn’t exist during the famous era of the Dog Ignoring Bun.

"Forget it, I have to at least give it a try and see if my idea works." Chen Ze shook his head and took out his phone to order some edible film online.

"So, the research on the Dog Ignoring Bun can be put on hold for now. Next up, let’s deal with the Edelman Wild Boar tails." Chen Ze lifted the lid of the marinating pot, added some water and spices, and then fished out a few already marinated ordinary pig tails.

Chen Ze took out some seasonings. He planned to try mixing the cut pig tails directly with them to see how it would taste.

Following the methods of the Cantonese roast meat master from his neighborhood, he added chili oil and other spices in succession, then mixed everything evenly.

A moderate assessment, it seemed the problem lay in the marinating process, and of course, there were some issues with the seasonings as well.

Undaunted, Chen Ze set aside the pig tail dish and picked up a slice to taste.

"It tastes entirely of chili. The flavors of other seasonings aren’t prominent, and I feel like something’s missing." Chen Ze licked his lips and then started to adjust the seasoning blend according to methods he found online.

"If I swap these pig tails with Edelman Wild Boar tails, the rating could probably reach the excellent grade," Chen Ze nodded. But he couldn’t process it directly; the best approach was to cut it in half. That way, if the recipe didn’t match well, he’d still have room for regret.

"Is this a restaurant?" a stranger’s voice.

"Welcome to the Dream Restaurant, esteemed guest~" Betty immediately approached with a smile.

"Sir, are you two guests?" Betty’s voice came again, indicating that two more guests had arrived.

"I think I’ll have an afternoon tea, a cup of black tea," the middle-aged man wearing a gentleman’s hat said with a smile as he sat down, while the tall and muscular man stood respectfully behind him.

"Sit down, Moran. Enjoying life is also a necessary part of it," the man said with a smile, inviting his companion to sit. He then started to look around the environment.

"Black tea?" Chen Ze heard the guest’s request, which left him in a predicament. He didn’t actually have any black tea prepared.

"Sorry, guest," Chen Ze came out, and immediately Moran’s eyes fixed on him.

"Since the restaurant doesn’t currently have a supply of tea leaves, may I suggest a different beverage? I personally recommend the Thunderbrew Lager, and Snowpeak Coffee is also available," Chen Ze explained with a smile, then decided that he would buy some tea leaves first thing tomorrow morning.

"Thunderbrew Lager? Quite the interesting name, please bring me a glass then," the middle-aged man said with a smile as gentle as a spring breeze. His voice and demeanor were very comforting.

"Sure, would you like anything else?" Chen Ze waved his hand, and then Betty walked over with the menu. freewebnσvel.cѳm

When the menu was opened, it was filled with colorful photos of dishes, but this time without any text. Chen Ze thought making it understandable to all customers was quite a challenging task. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

"Oh? Then I’ll have one of these, and please bring one for Moran too," the man said, pointing at an item on the menu.

"Certainly, please wait a moment," Chen Ze said as he and Betty entered the kitchen.

"Betty, this time serve the beer the way I taught you before," Chen Ze briefly instructed her.

The guest appeared to be Western, and Chen Ze wasn’t sure whether they liked their beer with a lot of foam or not.

"Understood, Boss." Soon, Betty was out with two large glasses of Thunderbrew Lager, setting them down in front of the two guests.

Moran didn’t hesitate, taking a big gulp from his glass. After a moment, the man beside him also took a sip.

"What a delicious beer..." the man marveled, looking at his glass with appreciation.

"Sir, if I may be so bold, you didn’t need to come personally. I would have verified the message from Jack for you," Moran said with caution, looking around before leaning in to whisper to the man.

"It’s fine, this is just a restaurant, not in the same camp as that detective who likes to trouble me. Plus, this place..." the man glanced at Betty with interest.

If he hadn’t mistaken, the wings and tail on the back of this waitress were real. The look was more devilish than anything, indicating that this restaurant was no ordinary eatery.

"Sir, here are the two slices of light cream cheese cake you ordered, enjoy," Chen Ze brought out the cakes.

"Thank you." The man picked up a fork and knife, expertly slicing a piece and tasting it.

"I never would have expected there are still customers who order light cream cheese cake," Chen Ze remarked as he returned to the kitchen, fiddling with a sapphire.

And that light cream cheese cake came with a special attribute—Flash of Genius.

"Flash of Genius... sounds like it might be more suited to an inventor," Chen Ze yawned, dismissing it as nothing dangerous given its passive effect.

"I’ve heard that a woman got her hands on some scandalous photos of the royal family," the man commented after taking a bite of the cake, then putting down his fork.

"Yes, sir, there is such news, but it’s impossible to verify its authenticity," Moran nodded.

"Hmm..." The man continued to slowly savor his cake. While the truth of the news was in question, if it were true...

"Who is the most famous detective at Scotland Yard now?" The man suddenly came up with a good idea.

"It’s Sherlock Holmes, sir."

"Ah, right, that detective who’s always on my trail. So, if there really is a scandal, this great detective should get the commission."
