Chapter 330: Chapter One Hundred and Ninety: Choice of Dishes to Accompany Drinks
"Snacks to accompany the drinks?" Chen Ze was a bit puzzled, as there didn’t seem to be any such items on his menu, since he had never prepared anything like that before.
"What kind of snacks do you want with your drinks?" Chen Ze leaned out and asked.
"Edamame, skewers, grilled crucian carp or anything of the sort would be good." Flying Squirrel was very excited, his mood couldn’t be suppressed, and he was able to taste such beer, too.
"Alright, wait a moment." Chen Ze nodded his head. He didn’t have edamame ready, but skewers were easy to handle, and he had experience with them.
After a while, Chen Ze brought out ten skewers of grilled squid tentacles and had Betty serve them.
"Squid tentacles, huh? They seem quite good?" Flying Squirrel picked up a skewer and sniffed it, a very attractive scent filled the air, and it was also very fragrant.
"Ah, life is just so wonderful." Flying Squirrel breathed out contentedly and then took another sip of his Thunderbrew Lager.
"Another one for me, no, make it two!" Flying Squirrel raised his head and then asked Betty to pour two more glasses of Thunderbrew Lager.
Meanwhile, Chen Ze was still in the kitchen, contemplating what kind of snacks to accompany drinks he should add, knowing that skewers were something that wouldn’t increase his experience.
"As for accompaniments for drinks... ’Ghost’ peanuts seem like a good choice, but they also feel quite ordinary, don’t they?" Chen Ze fell into contemplation.
The universally recognized best accompaniment for drinks is peanuts, partly because of the taste and partly because of the price.
After all, peanuts are affordable and accessible compared to other snacks, and they are also the least regrettable to snack on after drinking.
"Server, bring me a bottle of sorghum liquor, and slice up two liang of beef!" Chen Ze muttered to himself, then suddenly slapped his head.
He remembered that in ancient Huaxia, there was an accompaniment for drinks that was also very popular, namely spiced beef, a particularly delicious dish.
However, Chen Ze didn’t plan to make spiced beef directly, because although spiced beef is easy to make—given that Chen Ze had a Quadruple Speed marinade pot—
he felt that the taste of the spiced beef was still not as good as sauce-coated beef, so after some thought, he decided to prepare a dish of sauce-coated beef.
"Let me think... how do I make spiced sauce-coated beef again?" Chen Ze lightly tapped his head, as he currently had no way to search for it on his smartphone.
So for the time being, he could only rely on his memory, and he needed to figure out how to make this sauce-coated beef.
"I remember, in my residential area, there’s a place that sells spiced beef, and it’s particularly tasty, even better with their dipping sauce—the flavor of that..." Chen Ze made efforts to extract the memory.
"First, prepare the spices..." Chen Ze began trying to make this batch of spiced sauce-coated beef.
"Mr. Stan, long time no see!" Betty cheerfully addressed Stan as he walked in.
"Mm." Stan nodded his head, then glanced at Flying Squirrel sitting nearby, drinking beer.
"Mr. Stan? Wait just a moment," Chen Ze said in surprise as he peeked out and saw him, then he put down the star anise and other ingredients, and began making the Buffet.
"How about a glass?" Flying Squirrel looked at Stan sitting beside him, then lifted his beer.
"I’ll take one." Stan was silent for a moment, but then nodded.
"Eh? Okay, please wait a moment." Betty was somewhat surprised, but she immediately went in and poured a chilled glass of Thunderbrew Lager for Stan.
It was the same Thunderbrew Lager with a lot of foam, which she then carried out.
"Come on, with this skewer, the taste is even better." Buffet didn’t hold back the alcohol in his system, feeling like he was in an excellent state right now.
"Mmm, indeed it’s quite good." Stan nodded, finding that this item paired with the Thunderbrew Lager had a unique taste.
"Hehe, I told you so." Buffet was even more delighted. He ordered two more beers and added ten more skewers.
It turned out that the social interaction between two strangers could begin with just a drink and a skewer; nothing too complex was needed, just these simple things.
"Stan, your... um... why is this Buffet so sweet? But it really does go well with the beer!" Buffet laughed out loud, slapping Stan’s shoulder.
Feeling the weight on his shoulder, Stan suddenly laughed too, his laugh so hearty, so loud.
"Haha, your skewer also tastes really good, you know. It’s my first time trying something like this." Watching Stan’s smiling face, Betty’s eyes almost popped out. It was her first time seeing Stan, known as a cultivation maniac, looking so happy.
"You can tell, Mr. Stan is really happy." Chen Ze stood in the kitchen observing the scene, feeling a bit emotional. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Stan could be considered one of Chen Ze’s most characteristic guests so far, a man of few words, and also a fan of Buffet. Apart from that, he didn’t care for anything else.
Chen Ze never expected to see such a unique scene from Stan, and he was quite surprised by it.
The two boned up in Chen Ze’s tavern for well over an hour, and they ended up drinking an entire barrel of Thunderbrew Lager.
"Manager... um... here’s my... um... payment for the meal..." Buffet staggered to his feet, then took out several items, placing them on the table.
"This is mine." Stan still had a sullen face, though it seemed there was a hint of a smile, but it was very subtle. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Then Stan placed a few Moonlight Mushrooms on the table, followed by an Edelman Wild Boar tail.
After sending Stan and Buffet off, Chen Ze picked up the items from the table.
He was all too familiar with Moonlight Mushrooms and the Edelman Wild Boar tail, so he simply put them into his fridge.
"What are these three things..." Chen Ze hesitated, never having seen these two items before.
A heart the color of lava, a rock, and...
"Is this a sun?" Chen Ze doubted life as he looked at this incredible plant in front of him.
It looked like an ordinary plant, a flower, except that this flower’s bloom was a sun, very distinctive in appearance.
"So, should I call this flower a ’Sun Blossom’?" Chen Ze said with a mix of laughter and tears as he placed the flower into a box.
Although the flower resembled the sun, it lacked the warmth of a sun, which greatly relieved Chen Ze. Otherwise, he might have considered changing his source of fire.
"Betty, tidy up a bit, and you can go off work after grabbing a bite." Chen Ze yawned and then glanced at his phone; it was getting late.
"Alright, manager." Betty nodded and began to clean up the cutlery.
Before long, Chen Ze saw Betty off and then closed the door, locking it up.
Another day had come to an end.
